If I remember well, Roxette performed in front of 60.000 people in Buenos Aires (May 1992). They did 2 shows, so it makes 120.000 in total. The show in 1995 was much smaller: just 12.000 people attended... The 2nd show was, of course, cancelled.

It´s true...i was there in 1992 and 1995. But in 1995 there was around 20.000 or 23.000 people.
It was better because in 1992 Rox was a big success and all the people was going to see them for the hits.
In 1995 all the people sang all the songs, hits and no hits...included, so you wanna be a rock and roll stars.

However, it still amazes me that none of the South American shows were released on VHS or DVD...
Room_service said on December 11, 2006 22:40:
No, no one was ever officially released. But one of the shows from 1992 was broadcasted on TV. No in its entirety, sadly.
I wouldn’t be so sure about Rio... According Roxette20.eu, they only did one concert there. In Buenos Aires they were 2.

65,000 sell out- Praca da Apoteose Rio de Janeiro
55,000 sell out- River Plate
Room_service said on December 12, 2006 00:25:
Let me tell you Roxette never performed in the River Plate Stadium. They did 2 shows in Velez Sarsfield Stadium, 60.000 people each.
sylviah said on December 12, 2006 03:39:
Thats right...River Plate was the show we did with the Stones...however in attendance Brazil was the biggest show in South America. As per to concert venue refers. As for attendance in BA Roxette had 55,000 tickets in the market per show.

It´s fantastic to read about this huge attendence numbers at every concert that Roxette did in those days. I mean, come on, 65 000 at a concert, that is amazing by a band from a little small country like Sweden. It must be a great feeling to perform in front of such a hugh audience. The sing a long in various songs is fantastic when i hear some of the bootlegs from these concerts. When I think of it, I think Roxette can sell out concerts like these again. What do you think of that????
Room_service said on December 12, 2006 21:38:
sylvia, one way or another I think 2 sold-out gigs with 60.000 fans each (or 55.000) is a lot more than 65.000. I am not brilliant in Maths, but you don’t need to be Einstein to realise...

Did you perform with the Stones or what???
Debora said on December 12, 2006 22:40:
@Room_service
And you don’t have to forget the shows in Cordoba and Tucuman. In both places stadiums were full. Maybe 100.000 people more?
Santi said on December 13, 2006 07:33:
And could it be that the same people was repeating for the second concert? That would jeopardize your maths :P
Sascha said on December 13, 2006 08:47:
Shouldn’t “biggest gig” always refer to only one concert? Counting two gigs together is a bit strange for naming a “biggest audience” number...

I always thought that Zurich 1991 was one of the largest? Am I mistaken?

Well if you live in South America the promoting company for all the “Artist World Tours” were handled by Rock & Pop International. That includes all major anglo artists including Roxette. And no I did not perform with the Stones, I just put the concerts together in all of the cities that were confirmed for the tour...other words main promoters or for example same as what EMA Telstar does in Scandinavia as a Live Nation Company.
