I am absolutely, totally, globally and thouroghly DISAPPOINTED by the Rox Box. If I open my Winamp now with the Roxette folder in it, I get 95% of the Rox Box, almost 2 months before its release. The cover is cheap, even the Billy EP’s cover is better designed than this one.
I think Roxette will lose a REAL FAN soon and Bon Jovi will get a new one...

I was expecting a few more “unreleased” tracks, so i’ll be having a good think about getting it. Although in the end i’ll probably buy it anyway.
Maybe BadHairDay will come back and give us a few bonuses :-)

Just to say that I am not surprised, but dissapointed because I hoped to find new stuff in that track list. Who has the offical Cds and Demos won’t have interest for this album.
I think that the last 10 years Roxette did a lot of gretes hits but not so much new music like we wish, in my opinion the best way to celebrate 20 years together is by making new songs and a wolrd tour just for FANS.

Who needs just another ´Best Of´ or ´Greatest Hits´ album after ´Don´t bore us...´ and ´Pop/Ballad Hits´? NO ONE !!
I´m very dissapointed about the track list and I can´t believe it is true. There´s almost nothing what makes the RoxBox interesting for me. Where is really new stuff? Remixes, Live...
There are so many things who would be really highlights for a 20th anniversary box. I´m sure there are lots of unreleased songs and videos who had never seen or heard before.
I don´t feel up to pay lots of EUR (at least 60 I think) just for a few new demos.

no RoxBox or Greatest hits for me then...
I wonder if I should call it a quit with Roxette... >:-(
*edit*
I was always quite optimistic with Roxette’s future but now I’m not anymore... I think it’s kinda a goodbye...

not time to read all the comments ...
As I’m concerned, I’ve expected “myth” for a long time (they spoke about it in a “tour book” during the Crash Boom Bang world tour in 1994-95 together with june afternoon and T-T-T-Take it. The two last ones were released, as i know but never heard “myth”.
There are some demos and some new songs (if you see for the most complete version).
It was high time the Unplugged Show to be released ... (but we all know the reasons).
for the rest, nothing really interresting, one more best of, I’d better expected a new album or at least, for the ones who already have one bestof, a disc with demos and new ones, it would rather be more interesting for the fans !!!
brunorox said on August 30, 2006 16:25:
sth else to add
for this Rox Box, which is worldwide (as i suppose) they could have put a best of the swedish songs together with some songs as “hey Mr DJ” for example,
and not songs from the last Roxette best of.
I mean some GT, MF and PG’s songs from the last albums 2 or 3 years ago). Don’t you think so ???
gyllene_tjej said on August 30, 2006 16:54:

Looking forward to the release of “Hits” and The Rox Box.
I have to agree with some others though that June Afternoon is a glaring omission here. It might be blasphemous to say this, but it would have to been OK for me to drop “Dangerous” from here and put “June Afternoon” in its place.
The problem is (and this is a good problem to have if you are Per and Marie) is that Roxette has so many good songs that it is hard to compress a list to 20 songs (including the new tracks “One Wish” and “Reveal”).
It looks like The Rox Box will take care of all of Roxette’s fans’ needs.

and the 5th GH (2xDBUGTTC, TBH, TPH) album in 11 years is too much... during that years Roxette released only 2 (!!!) new albums HAND & RS + Spanish Ballads & re-release of PoP but 4 GH albums and now is coming the other one...

Per in Helsinki, April 2006:
The eagerly awaited RoxBox collector’s set will be out then as well.
“We don’t know yet,” Per discloses when TDR probes for new details on that project. “In the ideal world we would have ’MTV Unplugged,’ but it’s owned by MTV and nothing’s been solved yet. Otherwise it will be a mix of Roxette’s material, excluding the hits,” describes Per. TDR asks if the accompanied demo album will have previously unheard songs. “Most of the demos will be from the well known songs, like ’The Look,’ ’Listen To Your Heart’ and ’It Must Have Been Love.’ Famous songs that Marie is singing, I will be present in the demos. I want all the demos to be enjoyable, and not being there just for the sake of being there.”
Per does, however, reveal at least one mythical unheard Roxette song that will be included. “’Myth’ will be on the album. It’s a great song, written by Marie [with] my lyrics. Then I hope we can have a couple of unknown tracks by Marie.”
Per certainly doesn’t have a shortage of demos to choose from. “We did eight, nine demos for the ’Look Sharp!’ album. ’Silver Blue’ was there, ’One Is Such A Lonely Number’ was there. We have a couple of tracks from those sessions that are fantastic, like ’Sleeping Single’ and ’Dance Away.’ And there’s a demo for ’Cry’ which is totally different from the album version. I want to have those demos on the album because they mean so much to me and they are enjoyable to listen to.”

Per in The Netherlands, May 2006:
Any more updates on the Rox Box? Will it include the CD Kill Your Darlings which was cancelled a few years back?
No, the RoxBox will be 3 CD’s, the core of Roxette’s music. It will have the most common songs as well as some hard to get songs like for instance “Happy Together.” And then we have the demo thing. And then we have a DVD thing, which is videos I think. We’re trying to get permission to release MTV Unplugged. It’s really hard, but I have people working on this, I’m not that involved.
[...]
What is the market for the Rox Box? Is it only for fans or will it also be in the record stores among the normal Roxette CD’s?
Yes, it’s not like it’s mostly hard to get stuff and b-sides, things like that. It should be like an introduction to Roxette. I think it’s almost 60 songs on there. It should be like an enjoyable ride on these CD’s, as well as some hard to get stuff – if they’re good. There are two songs we really loved, “See Me” and “Weight of the World,” which we didn’t include because we didn’t want to lose the tempo of the album by having these acoustic tracks, even though we loved them. So both of them are included here. So it shouldn’t have songs which are inferior to the others, it should have songs which are hard to get but really good.

- Excluding the hits?
- Demos from “The Look”, “Listen To Your Heart” and “It Must Have Been Love”?
- Demos from “Sleeping Single” and “Dance Away”?
So this must be a different box set Per is talking about...
TheRain1981 said on August 30, 2006 23:02:
I just want to add that us fans can only hope that EMI/Roxette/Per (whoever!) decides to release a “singles box” (or boxes) with the demos, remixes, and b-sides not featured on this ’RoxBox’. I’m still amazed at how much solid material was left off. EMI has released single boxes for Duran Duran and Blondie, for example. I think following this disappointing box set with a “singles box” would be cool.
I was really hoping to get the U.S. remixes of several of their singles on this release (“Listen To Your Heart”, “Spending My Time”, etc). Perhaps they will find their way on a “singles box”. I won’t count on it. But it’s a thought.
My main problem with this ’RoxBox’ is that it’s jammed with far too many album tracks. All EMI had to do is remaster the albums. I would have bought them in a box! If this release had been mostly all b-sides, demos, remixes, and rarities (even if 95% of them were previously released) I couldn’t complain much. Honestly, that’s pretty much what I was expecting, not all these album tracks. Save the album tracks for the album remasters.
I’m ranting again. Just a few more thoughts.

OK, TDR, I’m kinda glad you removed my ’lw,sp’ comment- it was majorly below the belt...
Chaghi said on August 31, 2006 02:05:
Ok... I was reluctant to post since yesterday, as it seems there’s hardly anything new to add :( But I really need to add my 2 cents... at least to take it out from my mind.
When I saw the first picture the other week, you know, the one with Marie & Per at the front, Marie in a white jacket and Per in a grey shirt... I was soooo excited. They looked soooo happy, so relaxed, and so *NATURAL*... everything was perfect.
Then, I saw that *lame* sleeve for One Wish... it’s awful. It’s... irreal!!!! very un-natural. I can’t believe they’ve choosen that picture :(
And then, the tracklist. I was really expecting the RoxBox. I’m not stupid: I knew that in such a collection there would be known tracks... but we have been waiting this damn thing for ages... and the latest comments from Per let us imagine that it would be smething really interesting. I can’t believe we waited so long to get this. I think we do not deserve this.
I’m still waiting for the tracklist for the MTV Unplugged... I was looking forward to that... but if it is going to have just 15 tracks, then it’s not the real thing. It’s NOT the “complete” MTV Unplugged, as Per told us a few days ago. I wonder if they at least remastered it...
It seems to me that they are doing this just to do “something”. Because it is the 20th annyversary, and they are supposed to do something. But it seems neither of them (Marie & Per) really cares.
It’s sad. And then I read the latest news in Aftonbladet (about the One Wish video), and somehow I want to think I’m wrong... but I just can’t believe that Per & Marie *really* think that the “RoxBox”, as it is, is a “real Jewel for the true fans”.

TRASH! SCAM! CRAP!
They should entitled this silly release as that.
I´m always messaging against people that uses to complain here.. but this is a THING i must complain..
The tracklist...i´ve thought it could be more excentric..., more surprising, sexy, or at least more enjoyable..
i dont buy more rox related Greatest-Hitsabilia since 1996, because i just hate to have It must have been love in almost every cd of my rox cd´s i still have.
But if they start to promote the BOX SET,as it contains “unheard material”, “rare things”,things that a person that follows a band really likes to see.. or hear... but no... this is just a crappy bunch of cd´s that almost no one will buy, because it doesn´t have any decent sh*t... nor the tracklist..the video list.and the single cover...
-The hits... OK!!!!! ANNOYING..BUT OK..
-The Demos... or outtaken txs.. GIVE ME SOMETHING I DONT HAVE!
-Music Videos... NOT ALL, AND U STILL PUT THE CRAPPY P.O.P. ONES!
-Album versions from many songs.. GIVE ME A BREAK!!, I BETTER TAKE YOUR SISTER FOR A JOYRIDE!!
This just smells like your grandma´s feet
Crappy.. horrible... non existent surprise...
C´mon.. rox have MUCH more material than this .., even Marie´s outtaken from her carrier..demos.. same as “always-so-wanted-gt-old-demos”...
What they need to put in the dvd(s)..:
What every fan wants from his teenager band:
- Backstage things..
- Roxette Ruled the world 2 times!!! c´mon!!! the HI 8 camera from åsa must record tons of saucy things!!!
- VPK´S... from every album... i just own a few..!!!& are just cool!
- TV Presentations around the world.. and yes..there MUST BE A LOT AROUND THERE.. how many countries Roxette has made Press tours, and live perfomances?
- Live perfomances: audio or video... “not 91 - 92 always-in-my-collection-sh*t” - actual things.. there was a world tour in 1994-95... someone remember?
That is what i can start to call a “decent” BOX SET!”
Aww..i forgot...
I remember read about this BOX SET, many many years ago... in an european music magazine.. (92 - 93)

I’ve just read most of the comments here and I would like to say this - from the very start I was quite sure that this box wouldn’t turn out the way the fans would like it to be. Even the announced 14 previously unreleased songs seemed like too-good-to-be-true news to me. So I really can’t say I’m too much disappointed... well, don’t take me wrong - I am, because it could have been a real treasure, had we been given what they tried to make us believe we would, but on the other hand - wasn’t this to be expected? It’s all about money in the end.
However I wouldn’t mourn that we get e.g. Love Spins as a “rare song”, while it is easily downloadable from Internet. If we take it “officially” - it IS a previously unreleased song, never before available on any official CD. We should be grateful for that. Actually I would love to see for example Crazy About You, Entering Your Heart or Makin’ Love To You included, though most of you wouldn’t call these tracks “rare”. Released as B-sides they’re hard to get these days and should have made it to the box. It’s a pity they haven’t. I guess I’ll buy it anyway, just to have some of my all-time favourites (Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye; The Voice and some others) on CD finally and the MTV Unplugged Show (though probably incomplete) in DVD quality.

You guys and gals are never happy. Are you sure you a true fans? I stopped coming into this sight about 3 years ago and when I got word that Roxette was back with a couple a new songs and a box set to re-introduce themselves for new and old fans, this place hasn’t changed a bit. So you can’t get what YOU always want, too freakin’ bad. Either go out and start your own band or find a new band that will make your expectations. jeez.

The rest of us fans have a right to express our disappointment over the tracklisting of this upcoming release. Quite frankly, the amount of unreleased material could have easily fit onto one CD, and released as Roxette Rarities Volume 2 - then I might have been interested. This “Rox Box” indeed offers very little to the existing fan. Why were other hard to find b-sides like “Crazy About You” not included? Why no COY remixes or live tracks? If the Rox Box was really intended for the loyal Roxette fans, who already own all of their full-length releases, why were so many darn album tracks included in the collection?
There was so much potential!
No, this is absolutely ridiculous! - I will not waste my hard-earned money on anymore Greatest Hit packages and album tracks, which were previously purchased. If the singles are half decent, perhaps I will purchase them.

If it is the full length Unplugged gig there also should be Fading Like a Flower on there ( duet Per/Marie)
Was never showed on tv but they did perform it.

I can’t believe that I’m saying this but I’m also quite disappointed with this Roxette release. Well, I’m happy that there will be a few unreleased trax and hard-to-get songs. I’m also very happy about the MTV Unplugged show, even it’s incomplete, as I’ve never seen it.
But it’s very sad that there are so many regular album trax. I didn’t expect them to be sooo many. And why so very few b-sides which are really hard to get? Why the same video hits? Why?

I’m also happy there are SOME new tracks. But i am not happy to pay like 80$ for those songs.

Stop whining and get a life, will ya!
Rox Box is actually having suberb tracklist.
and by the way, Roxette is Per and Marie, not you!
If you don’t like it then don’t buy it, ok?

I totally agree about having your own oppinion but, to a certain extend. Not to verbally abuse a band that has made us so happy with their music for 20yrs. Your personal expectations will almost always be higher than any record company or even “the” band could or would imagine. Remember were all human but again it’s nice to keep “negative” comments to ourselves. Don’t you remember what our mothers always told us, “if you can’t say anything nice, than don’t say anything at all!” peace.
p.s.: nate: thanks for the response.
ps.s.: I think i spelled oppinion wrong! ugh- oasisvsroxette= terrible speller and too lazy to get the dictionary!!!

I appreciate your response, and I apologize if the remarks I made seemed harsh. It’s not my intention to personally attack you or Per and Marie - but I prefer to call a spade as a spade. Admittedly, I could have been a little more diplomatic.

I agree, THE SHAME BOX, it´s the right name.
No commets ´bout the tracking list, everything was said about it.
Per, I really love you and your lyrics, I hope that fucking tracklist is not the final one.

I’m very DISAPPOINTED about the new Roxbox. Less new songs. I’m very happy there where 2 new Rox songs. And I’m very glad that’s the Unplugged concert comes out on DVD. But Roxette has so much GH albums out the last years. 3 years ago, the last 2 album where greatest hits albums. I don’t understand it.
