Oh gawd i’m busy helping a friend siff through some of these penpal sites. (aka ONLINE DATING sites cuz they claim to be for “friends” but a quick look around and you see the real picture..)
Anyways did you ever have penpals? Any funny stories? I had 3 when i was a teenager. Real snail mail penpals. It was great fun. Still friends with one of em. Chatting to her online rite now :D

I use to recycle my stamps... but don’t tell Royal Mail!
I still know there are a few around in the Roxette world now... and there is just one that I still write to as snail mail as we’re great friends!

Rox: Well, it depends on what you start out with. The one I’m hoping to renew gravitated around our jobs and daily lives, and we tossed in some sci-fi stuff as well.

It was real fun to get back home and found her letter (sometimes with an audio cassette ;) But back then i was through a really tough time, and with the time i stopped answering her letters. And the same happened with a swedish email friend i used to have from the HAND forum (’99 - ’00) and around the äntligen era i lost my job and didn’t feel comunicative so that was it.
Till this very moment that i regret quiting with them that sudden way. Hope one time i get to have other friends.

I went to college, far away from home, a hundred years ago in the snail-mail days. The post office was a nucleus of campus activity six days a week, especially at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm when new deliveries were placed into post-office boxes, everybody checking his/her mail and getting out those little keys to unlock the boxes. You could always spot the kids who had not gotten any letters, they really looked sad. And it was GREAT to find a little pink slip, advising that a package was waiting... then take it to the counter, and be handed a big box of cookies or cake from Mom back home. (Not that anyone was starving.... heck, you could walk across the street and buy cookies or cake... but that package from HOME was always fabulous.)
And, folks on occasion got what we called “flush notes” – letters from a girlfriend or boyfriend far away advising they wanted to break up. It was called being “flushed,” like a toilet. VERY appropriate description!

Well I thought ....I had a pen pal back in primary school. Her name is Heather if I remember correctly... Funny thing is She wrote, I replied and that was it! I can’t even remember which particular country she is from, all I know is that she’s from overseas, finito.... My classmates continued writing to their penpals but mine just disappeared. I wonder what it would have been like having one...

My first penpal when I was about 10 years old was called Heidi from Germany!
We stayed friends for a good few years, but then I think she moved and we lost touch which was a shame as I would love to know what or where she is now....
I actually remember her mentioned the Joyride album in a letter once, that must have been around 1991 before I’d even really heard of Roxette!

Penpals! lol had loads of em, dont think i can rival ally but prob had 40 on the go at one point. It was great getting 5 letters a day. I loved it, swapping Roxette stuff (all my ppls were roxette fans) getting foreign xmas cards etc. When i went to 6th form i didnt have time so got rid of a lot of them and then at uni well.. they all got the boot but tried to keep in touch with a few via email.
Still have FBS now, the last few that i couldnt pass on to anyone, might just go and send them to the sender or whatever cos i loved getting those things back. I have about 10 that i made and sent around the world, i wouldnt chuck em.
Actually im really bad at hoarding and i have EVERY letter that any penpal ever wrote to me! hundreds of them.... :)

I have met only one of them. It was Mareike from Germany. She once came to Holland to stay with me for a few days and I visited her once.
Funny is that we were both on the Hannover concert of the Roomservice tour and that we stood quite close to eachother (we could tell after seeing the photos we took of the show). We knew that we would both attend the concert but since I was late we didn’t go into the hall at the same time. We really looked after eachother, but in spite we were actually really close to one another we haven’t seen eachother. A real shame...

Penpals? I used to have a lot!!! However, the poor service of post office in my country made me lose contact with some of them.
I have around 100 from my own country(mostly roxette fans). I still contacted with some of them, but through emails and phone..
I once had penpal with a girl from Sweden, also two other from Australia, but then I lost contact with them all.
Now I only have one penpal from Scotland. We met in movie website, and decide to do snailmail.

Also some other, from places like Greece, Finland, South Africa and the USA.
They were all girls, funny! :D
