Yesterday Germany made its choice.
A country band called Texas Lightning is going to participate with their song No, No Never.
I love it. It made me flip through the bathroom while brushing my teeth when they played it on the radio this morning.
joyrider said on March 10, 2006 13:23:
germany 12 points – from austria. sounds like a joke but could be possible this time ;)
rox-kuryliw said on March 10, 2006 15:19:

Rich-UK said on March 17, 2006 11:02:
Hi. Does anyone know if the Melodifestivalen final tomorrow night has a live web stream? It would be nice to watch the show. Cheers, Rich
ally77 said on March 17, 2006 21:06:
I am not sure but there is an official site...
http://www.melodifestivalen.se/
You can see the songs and watch them here...
http://svt.se/svt/road/Classic/shared/mediacenter/index.jsp?&d=49118&a=5...
There are 10 I think in the final tomorrow... and I love at the moment...
Rednex - Mama Take Me Home (I think this is the best)
Andreas Johnson - Sing For Me
The Poodles - Night Of Passion (A Swedish Darkness!)
BWO - Temple Of Love (not really my kind of music but actually a fave to win according to the betting...)
ally77 said on March 17, 2006 21:08:
Shame Patrik Isaksson - Faller Du Så Faller Jag didn’t get though as I like that ballad, really powerful as he has a great voice... :)
Rich-UK said on March 18, 2006 16:54:
OK OK, I know I’m sad, I admit it, but I’ve now heard 17 entries for Eurovision 2006 and here is my top 5:
1. ESTONIA: also known as Sweden’s second entry but just possibly this could be even better
2. SWEDEN: great song – on the assumption that Carola is elected – we will find out soon
3. UK: after dismal efforts in recent year at least this is different and I think that it’s good fun
4. ICELAND: I know, I know, I know but it is rather catchy and the strip show is quite hilarious
5. FINLAND: Wig Wam was my favourite last year and this heavy style is fun to see at Eurovision
Also good songs, in my opinion of course, are Denmark and Belgium. I have liked songs from the south of Europe previously (Albania was my favourite in 2004) but not so much this time. So will the Eurovision crown return to northern Europe this year?! Roll on May 18th & 20th :-) All the best, Rich
ally77 said on March 18, 2006 19:48:
I think last years entry Wig Wam was from Norway not Finland... :)
Room_service said on March 18, 2006 20:01:
The British song is nice. I didn’t like it at first, but now (that I am used to it) I can say it’s catchy and fun.
Armenia revealed their song, it’s a good one melody. I am sure they will achieved a good result in their debut. Other of my favourites are Turkey (Sibel Tüzün is great!), Macedonia, Norway, Iceland, Monaco, Romania, Germany...
I dislike Lithuania, Ireland, Finland, among others. Some songs are just HORRIBLE!

OK OK, I know I’m sad, I admit it, but I’ve now heard 17 entries for Eurovision 2006 and here is my top 5:
2. SWEDEN: great song – on the assumption that Carola is elected – we will find out soon
I think she did.... it was the one song I didn’t listen to last night, but I’ll play it soon...
Rich-UK said on March 18, 2006 21:54:
Hi Ally. Yeah, Wig Wam are Norwegian. I bought their album after Eurovision last year!! I guess what I mean is that their glam rock track last year was seen as quite ’extreme’ for Eurovision, but the Lordi song for Finland this year is even more extreme, in fact it’s some sort of death metal. But in a way maybe it has more chance of making a lasting impression. Overall I think the standard is higher this year than in 2005, and I’m looking forward to the event. All the best, Rich ;-)
PS It seems that Carola won Melodifestivalen which is the right choice in my opinion. Good luck to the two Swedish contestants :-)
Rich-UK said on March 18, 2006 22:23:
I have just seen Carola’s winning performance through the ’Video’ link at www.melodifestivalen.se and it’s clear that towards the end of the song her vocals were not nearly as strong as in her first performance. Maybe she has a sore throat as she did not perform at the dress rehearsal earlier? Her visual act to the cameras though was more refined this time. I really do think that if she matches the vocal performance of the first round with the visual performance of this final then Sweden has a real chance of winning the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Good luck!! Best wishes from Rich ;-)
Room_service said on March 19, 2006 17:21:
I don’t want Carola winning again. In fact, I didn’t want she winning the Melodifestivalen either. She was in Munich ’93 (she achieved a #3) and in Rome ’91, where she finally won with “Fångad av en stormvid”. What else does she want? I want new faces, not always the same people...

I’ve also placed my bed for the world cup as well!

For an unusual bet, put some pennies on Estonia... great song, great artist and currently an outsider at 25/1 but has potential to go far because of the artist! :)
The UK entry Daz will be on This Morning on Friday!
rox-kuryliw said on May 2, 2006 07:35:
i liked Magnus Carlsson from sweden looking back at the clips best.

Estonia is a good outsider to back.....
UK is cheesy, but one of the best we have entered...
Sweden.... so so, still marked as a fave
Romaina is good as well!
I am running a sweepstake at work!

oh my! I hadn’t seen so many bad artists in a row for a long while! What the hell was that girl in Iceland, and those three from Netherlands! Not only the songs were awful, they couldn’t sing! I think if it goes on like this, I’ll pass next year..
PS: Carola still living in the 80ies?
tevensso (moderator) said on May 19, 2006 06:07:
Carola never left 1983. Sadly most Swedes don’t realize that and they think that Sweden will win - again. When in reality Sweden will probably lose big - again. And then the Swedes will go “:| huh?! But Carola is so big!!?” Yeah, right.
Kiwein1 said on May 19, 2006 06:29:
Carola was a mess! This woman can’t sing or is that only my impression?
ally77 said on May 19, 2006 07:19:
Damn don’t say that, my friend just pulled Carola out of the sweepstake at work and I told her she had a good chance to win!
I thought Lithuania was a good entry.... loved the song title!
rox-kuryliw said on May 19, 2006 10:38:
i just wondered how do they choose the order of which country is singing first ect ?
tcooh said on May 19, 2006 11:24:
The order in which to sing is done by lottery (and perhaps money :P )
What bugs me about this is the fact they all use horrible playback, grrrr. (probably forced to do so also) Stupid!
per_mson said on May 19, 2006 12:01:
@Tev: Here’s one swede who absolutely does not like Carola. She could sing once I think, but nowadays she totally sucks. She can’t even hold a single tone.
My father said they called her “world star” the other day on the radio. I wonder if they considder Sweden (and maybe a bit of Denmark+Norway) the world?! ;-))
So I really, really hope she will end up really down so she maybe finally can get that she is NOT good!
tevensso (moderator) said on May 19, 2006 12:54:
Ha ha, but then it will be a part of the “sabotage” against her...
davidc4 said on May 19, 2006 13:37:
maybe sweden should get abba, ace of base and roxette to form a supergoup and set out to win lol didnt katrina from katrina and the waves try and enter the swedish contest last year?but she didnt get the vote from the swedish public?
RobS said on May 19, 2006 23:30:

I would just love to see Finland win with this entry... it just rocks!
Jud (moderator) said on May 20, 2006 13:01:

ally77 said on May 20, 2006 17:57:
Vix you have to watch just to see Finland!
I just read this on the BBC website comments....
“I hope Lordi win; their stage show is amazing, and the song good fun hard rock nonsense. Who can doubt the genius of a song that includes the word “aROCKalypse”?! They’re the best thing to happen to this show in years...
...We should have sent The Darkness!”
I think Vix might agree with that....
You drink the beer I’ll drink me cider!
ally77 said on May 20, 2006 18:22:
Another comment... from the good old BBC!
Normally I wouldn’t watch the Eurovision but I will this year, and why? I just want to see what Terry Wogan will say when confronted with Finnish band Lordi. I think that will be quality television.....
Those people in Europe I don’t know what presenters you have presenting your own Eurovision on TV, but Mr Wogan has been at it here for over 30 years and the guy just makes the show with his comments!
ally77 said on May 20, 2006 18:49:
Totally off topic....
but did you just see the UK Lottery show....
some weirdo ran into the audience ranting and raving..... waving a banner and then security ran in for him but they could not get him! lol
ally77 said on May 20, 2006 19:18:
Israel
Powerful, good act, good song! Why was it 125/1 at Ladbrokes!
Latvia
Out of tune, or was he suppose to be trying to sing like that! OH MY GOD! Actually sounded like a bad version of Queen! What was with that dance or should that be stupid head movements! I am sure I spotted Snape from Harry Potter in there!
ally77 said on May 20, 2006 19:32:

Looked Norwegian, but didn’t like the song!
Spain
Should be squashed and put into a bottle like ketchup!

To Judith: as lithuanian, thanx for such opinion. Yeah, the purpose of the song was to show that Eurovision contest basically sux, it is not about music and you can win with one note... In local final this idea was supported ;)
Vixzter said on May 20, 2006 19:55:
am i the only one thinking this is bollox but i’m gonna watch it cos god i need al augh!
i’m waiting for a song along the lines of waterloo!

Now why do Germany like Turkey so much!
Mr_Floppy said on May 20, 2006 21:42:
Well, I don’t think that we like Turkey more than other countries. I think it’s because there are A LOT of turkish people living in Germany. And they vote for their country of course from Germany.

ha! I was for Finland or Lithuania, and FI won, L ended up quite high! I just loved their way of making fun of the Eurovision.
Too bad Sweden ended that high, Carola sucks!!! Damn fanatic hipocrite homophobic >:|
And Spain: I hadn’t heard the song before, and man, did that suck! What were they thinking??
per_mson said on May 20, 2006 22:23:
I think it all just show how extremely pathetic the whole Eurovision show has become when something like this finnish garbage could win. Sure, they were fun, but good?!?!?! Nah!!!
I thought the best this year was without a doubt Germany. I also thought Norway was nice and also Denmark.
I agree with Judith that it is crap that Sweden got so high. That Carola-snake didn’t deserve that much!
Mr_Floppy said on May 20, 2006 22:35:
Finland did never win the contest before. I think this time they did win because the people really liked it most. Okay, there are a lot of countries which voted for their neighbours (like always) but Finland has got a lot of votes not only from their neighbours.
Kiwein1 said on May 21, 2006 04:48:

Well, I don’t know why the UK bother to put in a song anymore. Next year, I say don’t bother!! It’s just embarrasing

We gave 12 points to Finland and 4 points to Sweden, didn’t take note of the rest....
Just ordered Lordi’s album online at CDON! :)

I can’t believe FYROMacedonia didn’t get higher, did you see the short shorts on that girl!! :-p
I don’t think Lithuania, Armenia and turkey should’ve have got as high as they did.
I never would’ve picked Finland to win, was quite a surprise :-o

Finland can win eurovision every year if they want to. As long as they don´t win any gold medal in hockey. (which sweden will do again, starting now)

Cool....
I love the video for Hard Rock Halleluja!
Cheerleaders freak out! lol

i was wathching the news i forget which channel it was on but i had to laugh when they said that Finland arent used to coming top in anything but their suicide rate.nice.
as for Daz he did the best he could with the song i think we should try and pick something good for once though.the last few years positions have proved our bad choices of entries
2006 daz sampson(19th)
2005 javine (22nd)
2004 james fox (16th)
2003 jemini (26th)
2002 jessica garlick (3rd)
2001 linday d (15th)
2000 nicki french (16th)
1999 precious (12th)
1998 imaani (2nd) yay again
1997 kat&the waves (1st) yay!!!!
the last 4 contests we havent even finished in the top 15 so i think we should either drop out of it before we start to get a reputation like norways nil points or the contest should change so that the artists and songs name appear but not which country they are from that way people can only vote for the song.
roxgirl_germany said on May 22, 2006 15:44:
On the German “after show” show, the host said, “The Orks won the Song Contest”. :-D
(I also head them being described as Klingons.)
ally77 said on May 22, 2006 16:42:
Yeah I heard the klingons thing a few times!
They where all winding me up at work that I ordered the album, but I shut them up when I told them how much I’d won!
josefin said on May 22, 2006 17:43:
Here in Finland someone had bet 5 000 euros that Lordi wins, and won 295 000 euros!
Still can’t believe we actually won the contest, never imagined to hear the words “Finland, twelve points” and even more than one time ;P Well, won’t happen again so must continue enjoying this! Lordi rocks!
davidc4 said on May 23, 2006 10:23:
i didnt expect to hear the words United Kingdom 1 point..........and i wasnt to hear those mortal words either as they didnt read out points 1-7 ha ha we nver got more than 3 points and i cant remember which country loved us enough to give us 3....

lonely_girl said on May 23, 2006 18:24:
Anyone would like to have Ralph Siegel as the song-writer for their country’s entry next year?!
Switzerland would gladly resign from using his services ;-D

i probably was mad when i bumped in2 chris cromby from Jemini in The Lisbon in Liverpool and told him that he wasnt that bad..........a few weeks earlier he was in the Poste House a small pub and there had been shouts of NIL POINTS!!!!!!!that was my m8 ha ha.he always seems like an ok lad though and whenever he goes in GBar the DJ always plays Cry Baby...........

Wow, there was huge Lordi party yesterday. I was also on market square, center of Helsinki. Over 70 000 people were celebrating Lordi. It was sooo funny to see old ladys, small kids with Lordi-masks etc singing together Hard rock hallelujah. Lordi of course was really good on stage. Check this picture :D http://www.iltalehti.fi/osastot/lordi/kauppatoriilmasta_lo.jpg
