An insult to Roxette!!!

When I walked into HMV here in Dublin, Ireland on Tuesday, my heart almost stopped when I saw that Fading Like a Flower entered the Irish Charts at no. 12. Excellent news! BUT what I thought is incredibly insulting, to have a picture of another female on the cover! It is just a remix of fading like a flower, it is Marie’s voice, putting another female on the cover of the single will make people believe, it is her singing, not realizing it actually is Marie!!!

On this eBay auction there is the cover of the single that is also being sold here in Ireland:

You might have to copy and paste the full link into your address bar too see it..
Yes, Maire is in the background faded out, so much that it is like impossible to see her.

That’s the one i was thinking of. I don’t remember the woman on the left side though?!

What’s the problem about? People is over-reacting these days...

Staff: I think eBay’s talking about misrepresentation.
From what I’m reading:
The woman in this picture or album cover that eBay’d seen is not of Marie Fredriksson. HOWEVER, it is Marie’s voice doing FLAF (even the “remix”). Some people might come to the conclusion that the woman shown is the vocal being heard.
I don’t know what the deal that went down with this particular group / individuals, but DHT got permission to redo LTYH, and from what I gather, this folks didn’t. Changing the art work’s wrong imho.
Kinda like people assuming that Roxette did Take My Breath Away from Top Gun, when it was Berlin.

Spooky, the Dancing DJ’s did get permission from Roxette. I think in fact, from both Per and Marie, unlike D.H.T. who would have only had to get permission from Per and MP, as writers of the song.
I dont think its a big deal that Marie is not on the cover. They are doing the mix and they can choose their own sleeve. I think they already gave Marie more credit than they had to when they showed her in the video.

It’s hardly an insult. We know it’s Roxette. I don’t think this is gonna earn roxette any new fans... I detest this remix, I think that remix is the insult myself! It’s poop! Roxette are not!
I don’t think Per and Marie are gonna throw their dummies out of the pram cause they’re not on the cover.

Neil: I thought I saw something in the TDR news section where Per went after Dancing DJs in a law suit for not obtaining permission or something...???
ncurran said on August 6, 2005 17:55:
No, they got permission. In fact they are kind of Roxette fans and they said that if they hadnt got permission they would have scrapped the idea because they thought re-recording the song with a different vocalist would have killed the track.

i dont think it’s so much of a problem
i like the song, came on in Leif’s when I was there the other day...
*thought I’d casually drop that one in ;) lol *

all that matters i think is the songwriters names on the record/cd

I still can’t decide if it were better if Marie were on the cover actually. Well, Roxette did not create this remix. It was Dancing DJ’s remixing their hit Fading Like A Flower.
Maybe it would have been better to have no woman on the cover :D
RobS said on August 5, 2005 07:30:
Are they allowed to do that??
and didn’t they already have a cover design with a picture of Marie in the background all faded out??
