Warning To My Friends Here

I just want to warn everyone of something:
If you get a file called “Kill That Crazy Frog.pif” or something resembling that title.... DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!!! Even if it is from someone on your IM Contact list or a friend. It screwed my system so hard, I couldn’t get some of the functions to work.
ie: I could click on Start, but if I went to one of the categories on my Start Menu, it’d close down. I couldn’t get past the splash screen for Norton and I couldn’t uninstall / reinstall it either and so on. I wound up Reformatting C:. Lucky me, I had my entire C: made into a NGF (Norton Ghost File) like 3 days previous when I thought my hard drive was gonna crash. The only thing I lost was some of the new web pages I’d hunted for.
Also, I’d managed to copy all of my Favourites off of IE. How to do that:
Go to Favourites and open it. Right click, select “Send To” and make your own folder to stick that in. I’m glad I did.
Folks, if someone sends you a file through IM or E-Mail, and you’re not expecting one from them... it could be detrimental to your computer to open it. I found out the hard way.
(And if I had a dikshunery, I’d be smaaaaaaaaaaaaaart)

There is also one that runs in MSN messenger, something like, check this out it’s so cute! With the same ext as above.
Don’t click!

It’s appalling that so many people get their kicks solely from destroying what others have produced. If they would turn that creative energy to solving problems rather than fouling up what others have built, the world would run in greased grooves.

Totally agree Oldag, it’s so sad that these hackers sit there all day working so hard on a program that only destroys stuff. They’re obviously smart people to make these viruses, but they use their talent to make trouble! What a waste of time and intelligence.

I also have another warning for you:
I got a file called ’Tibitan Test’ or something like that. It was some rubbish test about how if you answer questions on some stuff - the test will bring you good luck. One of the questions was “pick your favourite number”, and then when it gave you your results - it said that the number you chose was the number of people you had to send the file to via e-mail. It then said something like “leave this file on your PC for 3 days - and you’ll get a lucky surprise”. Well, yes, I got a little ’surprise’, but it wasn’t very lucky!
It deleted all my files from my documents!! Everything! Everything from MP3’s to Word documents to home-made video files! Even the official files I got from iTunes! :(
Just a warning - incase anyone else got it recently.

I have a recommendation to everyone:
Make sure you have a back up of ALL your files. I used Norton SystemWorks Premiere 2005. It has Norton Ghost on there and it’s a simple step-by-step procedure to use. You can either back up to CD-R(W) or if you have a second drive like I do... back it up to that.
Honestly, people... I can’t stress this enough. Some of you have already found out the hard way the damage that can be done by some ass because they ain’t got nothing better to do. I have over 400 mp3s on my computer (most of them are CD’s that I’ve burned to make mixes of) and I’d be violently ill if I lost ANY of those. Especially the mixes I’ve been workin on (take Meatloaf and mix him in with Sarah Brightman).
PS - If someone does send you a file... make sure you KNOW that they were sending it to you. ie - I send Denny a pic of me and my buds from the Paintball Scenario Game I played in back in October, I’d make sure that Denny knew I was sending it by either putting the name of the particular file in the Subject, AND by sending an email to her previously stating my intentions.

this is why i never throw away my old systems, i keep the older one for web browing and dl purposes just in case this happens, I’ve learned the hard way that there are alot of retarded overachievers out ther ewhose moms didn’t breast feed them enough and they feel its thier duty to hack n destroy so i just one up them
Oldag75 said on March 19, 2005 23:28:
While it probably has not yet been established that insufficient breast-feeding produces computer/online sociopaths, it is true that an abnormal number of folks on the web are intent upon destruction. The good thing is that, being online, these demons leave a trail that authorities can trace to the very hard-drive from which the damage originated – such as some world-wide worm being traced right to the apartment of some puss-head in Munich.
In the US, prosecution of these hacking crimes is very aggressive – so much so, that reasonable people hope constantly they don’t do something wrong, like accidentally hitting a child-porn web site. Yes, there’s always a risk when you click any site dealing with Michael Jackson.

I actually think it is quite funny. just a little reminder not to take the net too seriously and
live a real life.

Sweets: While I’d find it ironic or something like that with your words, I still get upset when I have to rebuild my computer. I spend time on the net to talk to my friends from around the world, and I shouldn’t have to deal with someone’s pathetic attempt at “proving their manhood”. Whatever thrill people get off of destroying someone else’s stuff... well, I’m just not impressed.
