Midis? Really?

Does anyone actually enjoy these things? While I admire the ability it takes to play a song, even to create the midi itself, they always sound so cheesy and bland. If you like ’em, bless your heart, but for me, I’d rather take the time and listen to the CD.

Well, they don’t sound that bad if it somneone professional who made them and you have the right equippment to play them... But on a normal sound card in the PC or a mobile phone they sound crap.

I don’t think MIDIs are really meant to be enjoyed from a musical point of view: I think their strength is that they are very small in filesize meaning that they can be used in a wide range of online situations (as background music for websites, for example) plus on keyboards that have a MIDI card (meaning you can learn to play Roxette songs in your own home without sheet music).
Moreover, they [can] make for great karaoke tracks!

Great when used as ring tones for older style mobile phones.
