Did anyone follow the whole thing? What do you think of the awards? Did the people you expected receive any Oscar?

I just watched parts of the ceremony. Talking about “Mar Adentro”, I think it was a good movie but I would have prefered “Les Choristes” or “Der Untergang” to win...
I don’t think the academy awards really speak for the quality of the movies, but the influence some people have, but it’s a cool night for actresses/actors to become prostitutes of some outstanding italian designers..

I think all these big ’prestigeous’ US awards ceremonies are the worst award shows in the world. They always seem so fake and contrived. It’s all just too tacky. And, like stillfar said before, all these things (Oscars; Golden Globes; Grammys) are really about how many connections the production-crew and the actors have... and also who has just died. I guarantee that Ray Charles wouldn’t have won all those grammys if he hadn’t died. I’m not ’dissing’ Ray Charles or anything... I haven’t heard most of his music so really can’t judge... but the timing of his death and all his grammy awards - it just seems too conincidental to be based on genuine critical-likeness.
But hey... if your fav movie won - who cares what I have to say? ;-)
Excuse my outburst and continue on :)

Anyhoo, I am thinking of watching “Mar Adentro”, I love Javier Bardem– such a talented actor.

Home on Range wasn’t nominated. The Incredibles, Shrek 2, and Shark Tale were. Incredibles won.

RoxHard has properly nailed the US “entertainment” crowd, an overwhelmingly liberal bloc of narcissists and uneducated pretenders who have prospered immensely in a free-market capitalistic nation upon which they verbally defecate at every opportunity. And yes, the awards ceremonies are little more than gaudy circular self-gratification sessions. These “stars” represent the substance of the US to the same extent everyone in France is represented by Inspector Clouseau.
Though I really did like Selena and I thought she fully deserved her Grammy.
