“Why Do You Love Me” is the new single from Garbage’s forthcoming album, and I’d been DYING to hear this one because it’s been so long... well, it was DAMNED worth the wait, this song F**** ROCKS!!!!! Anyone else heard it yet?? What do you think? If this isn’t a hit for them, nothing will be... it’s so good to have them back!!
coyboyusa said on February 18, 2005 16:42:
its the forst garbage single thaty has no obvious hook i don’t like it much :( guess this is gonn abe their last album
roxtexanet said on February 18, 2005 20:26:
@coyboy: I would have said this song is loaded with more hooks than any single since “Push It” (and maybe even then...).
@RoxRyder: Hey, thanks for the link to the full mp3!!! I had a crappy radio rip before... by the way, I thought “Beautiful Garbage” was their best work ever, so many great songs like “Parade” and “Silence is Golden” and “Breaking Up The Girl”... I wouldn’t be unhappy at all if “Bleed Like Me” sounded like “BG” (but it doesn’t really look that way (-: ).
RoxHard said on February 18, 2005 22:41:
I LOOOOOOVVVVVVVVEE this song! Thanks so much for the link Roxryder!
It sounds like a GREAT return to form! And, from the reviews I’ve read of the promo album - this REALLY is a GREAT album they’re releasing! A real rock opus! And... it’s also released the same day as Natalie Imbruglia and Melanie C’s new albums! Typical... you wait ages for one album, and 3 come along at the same time! ;-)
And yet another negative comment from coyboyusa swept under the moderator radar... so negative and unnescessary... and yet if I were to reply to it, I’d be flamed!

i love this song!!
if i compare it to anythin from BG.. it doesnt compare!! the quality is so great on this song!
roxtexanet said on February 20, 2005 07:40:
@LaMan: “Version 2.0” by a million times... one of the top albums of all times, in my opinion, not a bad song on it and the tracks hang together really well. Love it!
coyboyusa said on February 20, 2005 15:16:
my co9mmenbt doesn’t need moderation theres no profanity or flaming in it so please lets not become so judgemental, beautiful garbage wasa just that pop garbage it wasn’t garbage as we know them, and if this single is any clue the new album is gonna be a big skipping exercise like the last one
tevensso (moderator) said on February 20, 2005 23:02:
“Guess this is gonna be their last album” is an opinion. Now please stop whining.
RoxHard said on February 21, 2005 01:54:
You know... this wouldn’t have been a big deal if you moderators weren’t throwing “your two cents” in at every occasional opportunity...
Now... let us positive-Garbage fans continue this discussion!!!
Jud (moderator) said on February 21, 2005 06:34:
neither if you wouldn’t keep on reminding us how to do our job and “throwing yours” in every single post. We actually thought you had understood the difference long ago... ;)
Jackeill said on February 21, 2005 13:14:
this song is average. or maybe even weak?
nothing special.
RoxHard said on February 21, 2005 19:11:
Really coyboy? I thought creating a fracas was your reason for being here! ;)
And I had my doubts with this song when I first heard it... but I put in on CD - and I LUUUVVVV it!!! You may think the guitar sounds out-of-place in the beginning... but, when you listen to the song on headphones - you hear it’s not!
Cerchio said on March 11, 2005 18:46:
This single has some of the old songs that were on the original edition of the album (Hands On A Hard Body). “Why Do You Love Me will be backed by the songs “Nobody Can Win” and “Space Can Come Through Anyone”, plus their cover of The Ramones “I Just Wanna Have Something To Do” which was available on The Ramones’ compilation “We’re A Happy Family” in 2003.” So maybe all the people complaining about how they liked Hands On A Hard Body and it’s tracklisting more than Bleed Like Me, maybe they can just buy all the singles and make their own edition - copying Hands On A Hard Body, no? :)

How is “Queer” video?
I hope there´s Garbage DVD sooner or later.
I love love love “The Trick Is To Keep Breathing” and “Cup Of Coffee”... and of course “Queer”.
Don´t you think they remind of UK group Republica? Same style if you ask me.
cheers.

@ LaMan: “new album out April 14”.
Isnt it April 11th?
Just thought I’d let you know, just so you don’t be missing out on 3 days of Garbage brilliance :)
*so excited about this new album!* :)
roxtexanet said on March 13, 2005 06:18:
@Cerchio: Me too!! Counting the days... April 12th in North America. But I’m going to see them on the 8th, so hopefully I’ll get a little live “preview”!
“WDYLM” is a big alternative radio hit already (#10 this week in the US) and it’s Garbage’s first song to crack Billboard’s “Modern Rock” chart since 1999 (currently #20). Yes!!
Nox1983 said on March 13, 2005 18:21:
I like the song, but i have to say that I was expecting more, since i got the song i have not listened to it so often as i still do with old Garbage songs...
coyboyusa said on September 23, 2005 00:31:
the cranberries released a similar statement just b4 they broke up
roxtexanet said on September 23, 2005 02:04:
@coyboy: The Cranberries haven’t broken up... they made the very big mistake of waiting about two weeks to dispel some rumours started by an Italian journalist and the “myth” of their breakup has persisted ever since. They’ll be back, eventually - they’re just taking a break like Roxette, Garbage, K’s Choice and most of my other favourite bands.
roxtexanet said on September 23, 2005 02:07:
I think the label doesn’t really know anything... Garbage themselves seem to have this idea that if they take a break now while they’re still friendly with one another and enjoying being in a band, they can ensure the band will be around for awhile longer, but if they push too hard, it’ll all fall apart. It’s irritating for fans, but having no plans means having no plans... it’s not a break-up, but it’s not a guarantee of anything new either. Frustrating, but that’s where we’re at.
coyboyusa said on September 23, 2005 20:18:
does it really matter bleed liek me flopped worldwide the album isn’t even on the top 100 in alot of countries, their time has come and pass
roxtexanet said on September 24, 2005 17:30:
Actually, I think Garbage are quite pleased with the success of “Bleed Like Me.” It’s given them a modern rock top 10 and a dance top 10 in the US, and the album was a top 5 in a host of countries including the US. Not bad, I think - this isn’t 1995, after all, the criteria for success have changed quite a bit.
This from their website:
Dear worried and confused,
After reading all the bullshit out there about the future of Garbage, we felt compelled to write a few lines here to address the issue and set the record straight.
Certain journalists have taken the liberty of running wildly inaccurate stories in recent days about our so called “break-up”. Made up out of cobbled together, out of context quotes to feed some perverse agenda of their own, these stories are nothing more than idle speculation and are completely inaccurate.
The truth of the matter is really simple and surprisingly hard to misconstrue. For more than ten years, we have been in a cycle of album-making and touring and for the first time in our history, we have made a decision to break that cycle and take some time off. What does that mean? We are NOT breaking up. However, we ARE taking some much-deserved time off to spend with our families and friends. How much time? We don’t know.
This decision came as a difficult yet necessary one in order to preserve something we hold very dear. The last ten years have been an incredible experience for all of us and we appreciate all the freedom, love and support you have so generously given us during that time. We are eternally grateful to you all and we look forward to the next chapter in all of our lives with great excitement and enthusiasm.
True Love Forever,
Garbage.
