OT/ STAR TREK ENTERPRISE

Hello everyone!
This post is totaly off topic but very very important. I need many people to read this!! Please don’t close!

The Star Trek fans have always been the best. No other show in television history has such loyal, intelligent, caring, appreciative, or dedicated fans. Last year we did two remarkable things. We gave everyone on the scene at Paramount’s Stage 18 a “warm and fuzzy” all the way to Porthos by our ourpouring of support to the production company known as Star Trek. At the same time, we let everyone know without a doubt that no matter what the Neilsons say, we’re out here, and we want to be heard.

For several reasons, we need to do it all again this year. We actually need to DOUBLE or efforts and REDOUBLE our numbers.

This one can just be called the Star Trek (DOT) Com Fan Supernova - an all out explosion of appreciation for the show and the people who make it all happen.

I mean it. We really need to go full-throttle this year. Through the first weeks of March, the cast, producers, and crew of Star Trek: Enterprise will be all together under that soundproofed aluminum soundstage, reading your letters while sitting on the set of the Bridge or in Sick Bay or aboard a Shuttlepod. This opportunity won’t exist past March.

WE REALLY NEED TO DO THIS. This is a two-pronged approach. Let the cast & crew know how much you appreciate them - in YOUR OWN WORDS. You must have your letter in the mail (in order to be effective) by February 28th, 2005. Address it to (specificially):

FS - ENTERPRISE
c/o Paramount Pictures
5555 Melrose Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90038-3197 U.S.A.

FS means Fan Supernova. This is really important that you do this now. The more letters that appear from places that don’t even have UPN, (including overseas countries) the better. If you’d like your letter to go to a particular person in the cast, crew, or production team, then put that name above the FS Enterprise part.

———————————–

NEXT we need to do what we can to get renewal OR network transfer for Star Trek: Enterprise. I never tell people what to say. I only highly suggest that you mention that your hopes are that UPN is unwilling to renew Star Trek Enterprise, but if not, that the possibility be raised that the show can be transferred to CBS, where its larger reach will spark new interest in the show.

For these, please write to all of these people to express where you’re from, what this show means to you, and how much you’d enjoy new episodes next season. Write as follows:

Chairman Sumner Redstone
Viacom International, Inc.
1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10036-5794 U.S.A.

President Leslie Moonves
CBS Broadcasting Inc.
51 West 52nd Street
New York, NY 10019 U.S.A.

President Tom Freston
Viacom International
1515 Broadway
New York, NY 10036 U.S.A.

Make your words from the heart, original and sincere. Best not to ask for advice on what to say. Just let your own heart, soul, and mind do the talking. Give them LOTS of opinions and LOTS of numbers that they aren’t getting from the Neilson ratings which are about to axe this show. Let it all out. My own letter will be posted somewhere in this string, and I suggest that you post your own letter on this string as well.

UPN is also interested in hearing your opinion, but only via a phone call to the “Enterprise Feedback Line” by dialing (310)575-7000. Although the “Enterprise Production” number has been publically posted before by others, DO NOT call this number - they’re a little busy right now!

And today, Enterprise Cast & Crew, welcome back from the Hiatus!

Now, while I admit that this particular individual (who shall remain nameless) is a bit... ah... eccentric... and certainly quite opinionated in some of his posts at St.com/E, I also believe he has a valid point that it is going to take an ALL OUT EFFORT by Enterprise fans in order to sway TPTB and get them to continue airing/producing the show.

IMHO we DO need a MASSIVE write-in/call-in effort to pull off a miracle and help ENT get at least another season.

I have a challenge to issue to all Enterprise fans: Are you willing to spend approximately $1.85 in stamps to send letters from the U.S. to the four or five decision makers at Viacom/UPN? (For most other countries the cost would come to $4.00 American)

Are you willing to take a half hour or so out of your busy lives to compose and send a letter (it needn’t be long) to those decision makers assuring them of your loyal viewership and asking them to give the show at least another season - and hopefully more? (You can use the same letter for each exec and merely change the heading and any pertinent words.)

We all need to start writing letters and making phone calls to that effect, now.

Earlier, someone on another ENT forum brought up Valentine’s cards - and whether we should do another February project this year to send cards to the cast/crew/UPN/Viacom? My answer to the question is YES.

Let’s flood them with mail/cards/calls again and see if we can turn the tide, shall we?

I sincerely hope you are all onboard with this idea... I know all of us who love Enterprise want more than anything to have ENT airing on our TV screens next year. Let’s take matters into our own hands once more.

Thanks for helping!
Inga

if fans had any respect for the past casts and crews they’d beg paramount to take enterprise off the air before it alienates the entire fanbase from the franchise

I don’t see any problem in the fandom!!! I have respect for all the cast and crews, INCLUDING the cast of ENTERPRISE!

Coyboy means that Enterprise is not worthy being called Star Trek, and I have to agree. Enterprise is the worst ST show ever.

It was apparent Star Trek was declining at the point where every other show featured the Borg – as though that characterization represented the final peak of creativity for the franchise.

One of the old ST-TNG episodes had a situation wherein Riker was duplicated – there actually came into being two William T. Rikers. One of them got trapped in some remote facility for eight years, while the other continued serving on the Enterprise. When they found the trapped Riker, he came aboard the Enterprise and, among other things, tried to resume his romantic relationship with Deanna. However, she had moved beyond that, and she rejected him. That Riker then took his middle name, Thomas, and departed the Enterprise to serve elsewhere in the Federation.

THEN – the final (probably) Star Trek movie, Nemesis, sees William Riker and Deanna get married finally. But what about poor old duplicate Thomas Riker, still out there in the Federation somewhere, who also loved Deanna (but got rejected, because she SUPPOSEDLY no longer wanted to have a relationship)? Talk about getting burned by love! The Riker family reunions really must be something, when both William and Thomas show up.

the borg was one of the few thingsa that enlived the franchise, first contact which feature the borg was if i am not mistaken the 2nd highest grossing trek film ever. the problem with trek weas they got away from the family feeling the original crew had, you got the feeling that they had bonded, they liked each other. On enterprise scott bakula is stiff as a board, he has no strong supporting charaters to deal with, they avoid the whole vulcan human relations issue like its the plague, thewy retread old stories liek the augments, hello wrath of khan etc. The show is just bland and booring. Granted, i think the next generation was far too perfect world in its view, ds9 was the perfcet blend of cultural conflict, well developed characters, very well written plotlines, now all we get is some techno jaregon and if we are really lucky a shot of scott bakula in his tight blue federation undies :)

I have to dissagree here!
I think that Enterprise is the BEST Trek show ever. I have been a Fan since TNG and I have to say that for me, the worst Star Trek show was DS9!
For Enterprise, it gets back to the roots of what Star Trek meant in the first place. The actors are a great deal better than other ones in Trek, the storys are intelligent, funny and interesting.
The only problem is UPN and Paramount, with there stupid decissions, concerning the show and a small amount of fans who just don’t recognize that a premature end of Enterprise will mean the final end of Trek !

Anyway, I guess it was a mistake to post a request for help here!

DS9 wasn’t the best Star Trek series for sure IMHO.
But I think Enterprise is even worse than DS9 - I never liked Voyager much, but in the end I watched it, I started to like it, the stories got much better, the characters developed and everything seemed to be much more professional. Then Voyager came to an end and we NEVER got to know what happened to the crew after coming back to Earth, though we saw some scenes of the future of which we can’t be sure, of course!...I always wanted to know what happened after Voyager found its way home..but instead they put us back to a time even BEFORE Kirk!! I NEVER wanted to see that and for that reason I NEVER have watched even one episode of Enterprise - quite boring for a TNG-Trekkie like I am and I always will be..
The “time-line” started with Kirk, had a break, continued with Picard, Sisco and Janeway - and then?
BTW: Scott Bakula is great!
Well, I am not sad about the way “Enterprise” is going now..it was obvious to come some day. I hope they will bring us back to the TNG/DS9/Voyager-course to the real Star-Trek-universe.

Nice discussion, btw..

@Inga:

I don’t think the end of Enterprise means the end of Star Trek– I think it’ll just be a break... kind of like the break between TOS and TNG. Star Trek needs this break to rejuvenate the franchise, to recruit better writers... we fans deserve more this dreck called Enterprise.

The start of a new year and a new user to this forum requests some help with something they care about.

And what do they get from us?

@ Inga:

Thanks for taking the time to let us know about the campaign. Keep up the good work.

Scott Bukula rules!

Thank you Steven for your nice words!
You have been the only one so far! I’m pretty sad that so many people let their personal tast overvhelm their behaviour towards others. There have been no constructive thoughts about Enterprise is bad!
Please if someone here is willing to help keep this WONDERFULL show, we would all be very happy!
Thanks,
Inga

And by the way: CONNOR TRINNEER rules :-)

Seven Of Nine in Voyager was OUTSTANDING in every respect.

inga, please realize i don’t hate enterprise i just think for a show that could go off inbto so many creative avenues, such as truky explaining how humanity stopped warring and unified to explore the univeres, or truly cover the whole klingon/human war, the show just is in this cresative rut, like the episode about the temporal wars and they went back to ww2 and the nazis, when the original trek was running out of ideas they did the same thing, enterprise had so much potential, and instead after 3 seasons the show has had no growth, benna braga and the other trek co-write were brave with tng, ds9 and voyage when they were willing to not show the federation as this ridiculous epitomy of good and utopia, if enterprise had more of an edge i would like it. the simple fact is paramount used trek as a cash cow and now that it doesn’t hold such financial influence they are canning it, even patrick stewart said that about when they abruptly cancelled tng, it was about money

@Inga: I was just stating my opinion, I didn’t disrespect you in any way. I understand you want to save the show, but you also have to realize that a lot of Trek fans just don’t think Enterprise is worth saving.

Hi Inga. Welcome to TDR. Don’t be discouraged, you’re perfectly welcome to talk about what you want. That’s why they call it Off-Topic.
I was sorry to hear that Enterprise is in danger! I guess alot of people don’t like it because it’s so different from all the other series. I personally love it. Although, in Australia, we’re STILL waiting for season three. Grrrrrr! Oh, and as for Connor Trinneer....wooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
I do, however have to disagree with you on one thing: DS9 was my favourite series. Dr Bashir....there’s another one I can’t get enough of!!!

Just to jump on THIS bandwagon *lol* I know a couple of people were waiting for me to sound in on this.

To let everyone know, this is how I’m referring to everything:
TOS: The Original Series (Kirk & Co.)
TNG: The Next Generation (Picard & Team)
DS9: Deep Space 9 (Sisko & Friends)
VOY: Voyager (Janeway et. al.)
ENT: Enterprise (Archer & Crew)

Here’s how it goes: You start to tell me a story (TOS), establishing some of the time lines on how things occur. You continue the story with the “next generation” of crew... you want to show us how the future is starting to turn out. Our former enemies are now becoming our allies. You continue the time lines. In TOS, we met the Klingons / Romulans / Tellurites and so forth on such and such dates.
In TNG, we met the Borg / Ferengi on such and such dates.
In DS9, we met the Founders / Jem Hadar on such and such dates.
In VOY, we met Species 8479 / and a whole SLEW of races never met before on such and such dates.

Here comes Enterprise and blows all that out of the water!!! Picard and his crew got their ASSES KICKED by the Borg!!!! There is NO WAY IN HELL Archer and his crew should have survived using the pea-shooters they have. And where in the hell is the computer reference? When Picard had Data do the research on the Borg, nothing came up in the Starfleet / Federation Archives. And don’t use the lame assed excuse of “maybe some of the files got lost”. Unless Gene Roddenberry established that there was a problem in the Starfleet / Federation computers and such... SOMEONE somewhere SHOULD have a reference.

I’m glad to see Enterprise end to be honest. Gene Roddenberry must be rolling over in his space capsule with the bullshit that Berman / Braga tried to pull. They destroyed MOST of everything he worked to create. He did everything up to a couple of seasons into DS9 before he died (I believe, I’m not sure about how far into TNG / DS9 he’d gotten).

The long and short of it:

Don’t start to tell me a story and get it going and well established, then change everything and expect me to swallow it. You lose my respect that way.

Two things:
1. I like Enterprise, and I think it’s kinda cool that they come up with weird and wonderful ways to bring the Ferengi and whoever else into it.

2. It’s Species 8472! I don’t mean to be picky or nuffin’! It’s just that my husband gets that wrong ALL the time! grrrr

Shameless plug for a little something one of my favorite TV writers (working on “Lost” right now)wrote:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/chaodai/7018.html

Agree in full with Spook. Enterprise wasn’t Star Trek at all.
BTW, it’s now been decided it will be canceled.

Kaz: Sorry on the typo hun... I have been having technical issues with my computer that I have fixed. New touch pad.

gives spooky a big thumbs up i think someone should also shoot majel barret his widow she’s allowed treck to become more of a parody than a culutualr elelment

@Spooky:

Amen, sista!

@LittleSpooky: “Kaz: Sorry on the typo hun... “
A-ha. I knew there must have been a good reason for that! You’re forgiven.

I reckon they should do a new series in a couple of years. They haven’t explored the Beta Quadrant yet....

Kaz: Thanks :o)

Had been stressin the troubles over the computer... and they’re not 100% solved. I’m not sure what to do anymore. I just have a “routine” that I follow when it comes to it....
