Marie's documentary - interview transcript
sweepi said on November 25, 2004 11:33:
I still can’t focus the screen right, from the tears I have in my eyes, after go on reading the comments on the front page following to the broadcast of Marie’s documentary... And I know, I know this is a huge thing to ask, too much, and I’m sorry I’m daring to ask all this very much, but I wonder, I wonder if someone who got the chance to watch and tape the documentary, and has the ability, and the opportunity and time, could please, please please, if possible at all, write here the translated transcript from Marie’s interview... It doesn’t even have to be the same person having all the trouble and doing it all, it can be just like, someone writes a bit, then someone else writes a following bit, and so on, just the bit each one has the chance to add on... Again I say it, I know this is too much to ask... But I would so very much love to be able to “watch” this documentary too... And perhaps more fans, who also didn’t get that chance to watch it, would too?... I’d be so endlessly grateful if someone could please please share some, for as few as it may be, some of Marie’s words with us... Thank you so so very much and God bless.
P.S. I’m only sorry to TDR if this is a thread I shouldn’t have started at all for this being something I shouldn’t have asked at all?... If so then someone do please please delete it and I’m sorry again.

Ah Jesus Christ, I haven’t even had the courage yet to watch that little clip on TV4’s site... Think I’m a little too sensitive, especially now after those comments on the front page... Oh Lord... It’s so hard to hold the tears, just to think about it... Jesus... I only feel like shouting “I love you Marie!” and embracing her and... Man, this is gonna be hard, so hard...
Kama said on November 25, 2004 12:18:
I just watched it at tv4. But I can only watch it, i don’t understand what they say in there, and I wish so much that somebody did some english verion of what do they say.... not mentioning about ripping it and somebody doping englisdh subtitles. I know I’m demanding too much, but in general it piss me off, that I cannot understand what is it all about...

Kama: “not mentioning about ripping it and somebody doping englisdh subtitles”
Regarding this I would perhaps take LEO’s considerations from before, to agree that perhaps it is not the best thing to wish for right now, that the video of the documentary gets available in some kind of unofficial way... That’s actually why I was even hesitant whether to ask for a transcript of the interview... (Then again, it is of my opinion that such transcript, in full, or at least of the most relevant moments for the purpose, could perhaps be released to the press, officcially I mean, including to the international press, particularly in the countries where Marie’s album is being released, making available at least some kind of source for supporting promotional articles for the album release, this could perhaps be a thought?...)

I don’t think another “petition” is necessary for this project. All these concepts/ideas our readers are expressing in comments here on TDR... are being considered.
But there is a potential problem with what is being asked for. Keep in mind that this copyrighted program belongs to Titan and TV4, and not to EMI or Marie.... and the documentary will not be shown in some countries until January. A DVD release would have to follow that (either Titan would release it themselves, or EMI would buy the program from Titan/TV4 in order to do so).
But if fans desire that at some point this be released on DVD so they can see it... then it would be counterproductive to that goal to have it on RoxBytes (which people are also asking for). Why go to the risk/expense of producing such a DVD if a pirated version is already on the internet... potentially harming whatever sales you might expect otherwise?

I’ve said before that the people who are asking for this to be pirated and put online are at odds with those who hope to see this released on DVD.
purplemedusa said on November 25, 2004 14:16:
No I want it on DVD... It would b great to see the directors cut... an extended version of this doc! The live performances could be remastered.... would be fantastic!!!
Then again EMI should consider squezing all 3 Marie documents on one DVD... DSR, Antligen & this new one.... that would just be super great!!!!!
Sparvogamarie said on November 25, 2004 15:23:
Purple: now THAT is a good idea, I would love a video of all three documentaries. But like LEO said, they are probably owned by other companies.
Sweepi: my friends and I once translated the MF DVD together, I’ll see if we can pull together and work on a transcript for the documentary!
purplemedusa said on November 25, 2004 15:30:
I understand that those docs are owned by respective co’s but EMI can surely afford to do something for the fans!! Gets goosebumbs just thinking of owning the DSR doc officially!!
Sparvogamarie said on November 25, 2004 15:31:
Oooh me too, that would be cool. That documentary was so cool because it was so artistic with the dark lighting in the beginning then white, and the different angles...very Åkerlund!!!
ncurran said on November 25, 2004 20:28:
kiwein, a good quality tv rip is fine, but not much use if i cant understand it. I want something with english subtitles....if not then at least german where i could understand most of it, but preferably english. I think the only way this would happen would be with a dvd, as it isnt likely to be broadcast in any english speaking countries.
Vixzter said on November 25, 2004 21:17:
the most frustrating thing is it will more than likely next to never ever be released on dvd with english subtitles which is a complete arse *imo*
ncurran said on November 25, 2004 22:44:
i just watched the full thing, and it was very moving, though frustrating that i couldnt understand what she was saying.....even without understanding the words though, i could still get the gist of what was happening. It was quite sad to watch her getting emotional, but she showed great strength aswell. I love watching her in the studio when she is listening to herself and singing along....
also oskar seems like a little character and a right wee handful
Hotblooded said on November 26, 2004 03:32:
I so hope by some chance they will release this on DVD with English Subtitles I mean if there is any documentary I want it would be this one!
purplemedusa said on November 26, 2004 08:17:
BTW I don’t exactly argee with Lars there... this is one of those releases that has fan appeal (he seems to have forgotten that) and no matter if all the Roxette sites housed the ripped version of it, 90% of the fans WILL still by such a release!!
marie-jane said on November 26, 2004 09:53:
I still really, really hope that any german Tv channel will broadcast the Marie docu one day.....
But if not, it would be really nice if someone could be so kind and translate the docu for us...
Sparvogamarie said on November 26, 2004 13:07:
Purplemedusa: you are right, I have 2 copies of the video from TV and a computer TV rip and I’d still buy the DVD, so I don’t think it would affect sales if it’s online. But I seriously doubt there will be any DVD or video because documentaries like this don’t usually make it to official release. I would LOVE subtitles though, I do understand the doco but I have to really concentrate.
pietROxette said on November 26, 2004 13:12:
Ripping and uploading an open channel broadcast is exactly the same as watching it on TV. It’s just that people outside Sweden don’t have access to TV4. I’ll upload the entire interview soon.
Sparvogamarie said on November 26, 2004 14:06:
Pietro you are exactly right! I didn’t think of it before, but that’s totally true. I am in Sweden so I was able to turn on my TV on Wedneday night and watch it. But people in other countries were not able to do that unless they had a satellite. What’s the difference if it’s on a computer instead of TV?
coyboyusa said on November 26, 2004 16:46:
i love the pessimism, technically south african tv owned the rights to crash boom live in johannesburg but with a little futtling per got it out on dvd i am sure maries people could work with titan if there is that much interest

By now, I prefer that Pietro upload it on www.roxbytes.com. Could you, Pietro, drop a line here in the discussions, when you uploaded MARIE’s documentary cos I have some problems and I can’t watch it on my PC. Trancript or just the main ideas would be great.
What’s that CRASH!BOOM!LIVE! story???
Jud (moderator) said on November 26, 2004 21:58:
ooh i just got an idea :P~
I doubt the docu will be released as a dvd on its own.. i mean, you don’t make a dvd for 45 min... so Marie could release a brand new dvd with
+ old videos (we didn’t get them all in the live dvd)
+ den ständiga resan docu
+ äntligen docu
+ this docu
+ anything that they might be keeping in their drawers :P Maybe recordings from DSR tour, or or.. whatever. I am SURE there’s more stuff laying around
;)
purplemedusa said on November 26, 2004 22:36:
The Antiligen doc aswell... don’t forget about that one!!
purplemedusa said on November 26, 2004 23:03:
Yeah with subtitles!! MArie will have her fans creaming for such an release!! LOL
sweepi said on November 27, 2004 11:45:
The neverending dilema... Well, all I can say myself is that I will be the first in line to download the video from Roxbytes, it getting available there, and to wholeheartedly thank those thus making it possible for everyone of us outside Sweden to have the chance to watch the documentary too; just as well as I will be the first in line to get my hands on such a DVD, if the dream of having this documentary released on DVD does some time in the future come true, and heck this would be the dream of dreams! So the point is, from our perspective, the fans’ perspective, and so especially regarding this so very particular video documentary, certainly that having already a video rip from the TV broadcast wouldn’t at all affect our interest in having the DVD release might it come to exist, certainly that not! I mean, that would affect my interest surely just as much as it would if I already had for instance a VHS copy of it taped from the TV broadcast i.e. 0 (zero)!!!!! Might only Titan/TV4/EMI share of the same perspective and just give us that DVD!!... >:P Yes with English subtitles as obvious!!! And, once they’d be on it, with all those other extras, oh yeah, that wouldn’t be a dream, that’d be like paradise!!! :D Especially the DSR documentary oh my God that’d be such a breathtaking add on to have on DVD!!!... *wishful sigh* Still, and even if it’d be only the new documentary, this one alone would be more than heaven already! And sure we make a DVD for 45 min.! “En Mazarin Blir Till” anyone? ;)
Still my biggest wish for just now would be to only be able to just read on some of what Marie said in that documentary (the new one I mean)... I so much die to know more of what she said!!... And I go on thanking endlessly to anyone who can share some of her words with us! THANK YOU ALL so very much!!!
Sparvogamarie said on November 27, 2004 15:16:
I can tell you a bit of what Marie said Sweepi!
She talks a lot about how happy she is and that she really found a lot of strength through this illness. She has also found faith in God now, before she didn’t because her sister died so she never liked God much. But now she prays every day. She says she’s grateful for her family for being so strong, especially Micke. She cries a few times, which is really heartbreaking but she’s crying happy tears when she talks about how glad she is to be alive. There’s a lot about the album, and she says a few times she wanted to stop doing it because it was hard, but she got a lot of strength from it.
Anything else you wanna know? After you have watched it feel free to ask if you wanna know something she says!
sweepi said on November 27, 2004 16:40:
Thank you Sparvogamarie! Thank you endlessly much for the overview on Marie’s interview! :) I still have to find my courage to watch TV4’s webcast... (I even already registered but...) Yesterday I got to see the short clip from RTL’s “Punkt 12” and... Oh God the hard it is to just realise the pain someone you love all so much had to go through... Feels as if your own heart is in tears... Oh man I know I’ll cry so much viewing those images... (Damn it I’m crying already just to think of it...) Still thank you Sparvogamarie, thank you truly again. And thank you too Ted, that would be endlessly kind of you too. I’d be very happy to read whatever more... :)
Sparvogamarie said on November 28, 2004 08:20:
Sweepi I would definitely encourage you to watch the broadcast!! I know it’s hard but it’s worth it, don’t worry that you will see anything painful because the documentary is very positive. The only hard part is seeing Marie so swollen, but I’m impressed with her for having the courage to show herself like that. I don’t think I could.
But if you’re not ready to watch yet, I can tell you a bit more.... it opens with her talking about her feelings towards the illness, then you see a lot of her in her home working on the album. Micke is interviewed a lot about his feelings, you also get to see her son Oscar quite a lot playing around. Then she’s in her garden at a “table in the sun” drawing pictures of herself. At the end she sits in the garden and prays/meditates.
eva_roxer said on November 28, 2004 22:27:
There are also a few funny moments in the documentary, like when Marie’s son, Oskar, appears together with another kid in the studio, singing Per’s “Här Kommer Älla...” and whistling its melody :-)
naturalborn-roxer said on November 29, 2004 18:47:
i really love the doc it’s great although i can’t understand it. thanks pietro.
sweepi said on November 29, 2004 19:18:
Thank you again, Sparvogamarie, and eva_roxer, for the new lines on the documentary.
Though I got in a sudden doubt now! I was reading in a Portuguese site, which also reported about Marie’s documentary ( http://voxpop.sapo.pt/noticias/ficha.asp?id=96683BE4-84E4-4DCC-A9CE-E04A... ), and there it reads:
«Marie Fredriksson, in interview to the Swedish channel TV4, explained that she discovered she had cancer when, an hour before a show, she temporarily lost sight from the right eye. “It simply was gone (sight from her right eye) and I started wondering what was happening. I heard Micke’s voice, calling me, I hit with my head and suffered an epileptic attack. Then I was taken to the hospital, and found out I had a tumor”, tells Fredriksson.»
So I got wondering myself, is this the exact transcript from Marie’s words, is this what she actually says, in some moment during the documentary? I mean, about it all happening some hour before a show (?), and then, also, about the epileptic attack (?), is this all correct info? And I got wondering even more, after seeing that also in MTV Brasil site’s news ( http://www2.mtv.terra.com.br/drops/drops.php?id=6916 ) it says also the same... Can someone please clear about this piece of info, please?... Thank you once more!
roxgirl_germany said on November 29, 2004 21:17:
Sweepi, in some German articles, I also read that it happened during/before an appearance on stage. Nonsense. It was in her bathroom. Writers tend to like to make it a bit more dramatic. Hate that. :(
The epileptic attack (or whatever it’s called in English) is true. When she fell, she hit her head so badly that she got one of them.
sweepi said on November 30, 2004 11:31:
Yes yes, I know it didn’t happen before any show, but the coming Night Of The Proms press conference, (perhaps this is where the whole confusion for the press comes from!), and that it happened at her home, in the bathroom, after jogging, yes, and also I remember reading about the exaggeration and miss information in some press articles at the time, (which so it seems, goes on even now!), yes. :( I was only wondering actually what Marie’s personal narration of what happened is, in the documentary. I mean, her, in direct speech... The quotes in the article led me wondering about Marie’s own words?...
About she having suffered an epileptic attack, resulting from her fall, this was actually the first time I read about it, wasn’t aware that had happened...

If I would be more used to write in English I would translate it for all of you (as far as I understand it ;-)) but unfortunately I’m not good enough in English.
So, for all of you who understand German: I hope you’ll enjoy my translation. And for all the others: sorry, that I couldn’t make it in English -I hope you won’t have to wait long for the english text and I hope that my translation is a good “base” for it.

No I don’t think you are wrong for asking this. I’m from Australia and I would love to be able to understand what Marie has to say in this documentary, if someone is willing to write a transcript that would be fantastic!
Having watched the little snippet on the TV4 website I can say that to some degree you don’t even really need the subtitles, there was so much in just her actions and voice and my God she just touched my heart so much...I have always loved Marie but now I have a new geniune respect and admiration for her, she will always be an inspiration to me.
