Marie drops lawsuit

Written by tevensso on February 27, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM (UPDATED) - According to a telegram in Aftonbladet today, Marie Fredriksson has, in agreement with Expressen, decided to drop the lawsuit.

The trial was supposed to be held on Wednesday, but is now cancelled according to Leif Silbersky, Marie’s attorney. “I neither want, nor can tell you why, but we’ve reached an agreement with Expressen on how to handle this,” Silbersky says.

Otto Sjöberg, editor-in-chief of Expressen, says that there exists no secret deal between the parts. “When Marie Fredriksson decided to not pursue her claim, Expressen chose not to demand compensation for its costs for the trial. That’s the whole deal between Marie Fredriksson and Expressen,” Sjöberg says in Expressen.

In a press release issued by Marie Fredriksson today she states that even though she’s free from the cancer and much stronger now, she feels that she doesn’t have enough strength to pursue a tedious legal process. Marie chooses instead to focus her energy on regaining her strength, recovering from her illness and her family and the present now.

TDR readers may recall that Expressen immediately published an apology when Marie Fredriksson reacted negatively to the original article.

Video shot for “DJ”

Written by tevensso on February 24, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM - According to a message from Per at Son of a Plumber’s site they shot a video for “Hey mr DJ” last night. “The idea was, as always, vague but interesting…. psychedelica meets Alice in Wonderland in a freak show environment,” Per says and continues “Clarence did a great job lifting weights in a silly costume, Magnus got knives thrown at him (scary….) 10 kids, most of them from Gabriel’s school played violins and trumpets and drums, all looking very handsome and jolly…. Helena played a puppet on a string, Christoffer wore a top hat and I wore a tie. And the coffee was good.”

The video is expected to be ready late next week.

“DJ” promo to be released

Written by tevensso on February 20, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM (UPDATED) - Monday February 13 a promotion single of “Hey Mr DJ” will be released, to radio stations only. It will contain the original version of the song plus two fresh remixes. The first remix is called Love-For-Sale and is made by Clarence, Christoffer and Jimmy Monell (aka Shooting Star), the second is remixed by Jimmy and thusly called Jimmy Monell Treatment. While the first remix is very radio friendly, the second will probably do best on the dance floor.

This single will most probably not be released commercially, however, there is a fair possibility that the remixes will be available as downloads at for instance CDON and iTunes.

In cooperation with Son of a Plumber.com, TDR presents these snippets:

Jimmy Monell Treatment :

Love-For-Sale Remix :

Update Feb. 20: The single will be released commercially after all, as a physical single (0946 3591432 0) on March 1st and as a digital single on March 13th. The cover art is shown here.

Bad Hair Day strikes back

Written by tevensso on February 14, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM - Per's latest little project Bad Hair Day has struck again! This time Per wants to present his fans with a little Valentine's Day gift, so he has "released" a "single" consisting of the only two Son of a Plumber demos ever recorded.

Per presents it himself like this:

St Valentine’s day, Feb 14 – 2006

Friends… let’s celebrate this wonderful and important day with some new jolly music! The only two existing Son of a Plumber-demos are at your service!!

I started working on “I like it like that” with some, quite annoying, drum-loop in mind. It all put me in a somewhat bad mood. Drum-grooves usually do! However I really adored the song and did an acoustic version the very same day at the Tits&Ass studio. Here it is! I think I’ve changed the lyrics a bit along the way.

“Something in the system” was a slight mistake so I didn’t want to use it at all. I never really liked it, dunno why. But when the medley-idea came up (I guess it was Clarence’ brilliant brain at work!!) I thought it would fit quite well. Shorter, more in-your-face, like a nice little bridge between “Double-headed Elvis” and “Speed boat to Cuba”. This is how it sounded when it was born.

So how come these are the only two existing Son of a Plumber-demos? Well, neither one of them were intended for the project! Both of them were recorded in January 2002 and at the time, of course, the S.O.A.P.-beast wasn’t even invented! So these tunes were written for the Roxette compilations, Ballad Hits & Pop Hits. In the same four-week period I did demos for “A thing about you” and “Breathe” as well. There you go!

“Hey Mr DJ” enters at #12

Written by tevensso on February 13, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM (UPDATED) - The latest single from the hit album “Son of a Plumber” (sold more than 102,000 copies so far), “Hey Mr DJ (Won’t You Play Another Love Song)” enters the official Swedish top 40 chart at #12 today. The single is marked as “newcomer of the week.” Per comments this as “How fun!!!”

According to TDR’s sources the remix single is out to radio stations today.

Further info about the European releases is that Germany will release the album at the end of April, “EMI Germany seems very enthusiastic and wants to do lots of radio with this,” Per comments. He also tells TDR that “Jo-Anna Says” will be the first single in Germany, with “C’mon” as the B-side. The rest of Europe (excluding the UK which has not responded) goes with “Hey Mr DJ,” but only as a promo single for starters. While EMI UK has not responded to the album EMI Canada has, and they will also release the album.

According to EMI Sweden the singles to be released down in Europe will be digital only unless they turn out to be “super radio hits,” then EMI will quickly produce physical singles.

“Hey Mr DJ” to be first single in Europe

Written by Jud on February 11, 2006 to .

STOCKHOLM - Per Gessle revealed today in a new message on his website that “Hey Mr. DJ” will be the first single in most European countries. “Son Of A Plumber” is scheduled for release in Europe on March 6, so the single is expected to start airplay a few weeks before this date.

Per and his band will shoot a music video for the song, to be directed by Daniel Börjesson, in two weeks. There will also be a video for “Jo-Anna Says,” since EMI Germany “fell in love with that one!!!” Per explains.

In addition, since he says so many people seem to like them, the “Hey Mr. DJ” remixes – which initially were planned to be featured on a promotion single for radio stations only – will also be released commercially.
