Roxette has accepted an invitiation to attend the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo where they will be presented with an award for “World’s best-selling Scandinavian Act of the Year (1999)” according to the Official Roxette Fanclub. The May 10th awards show is the 12th such event and will be broadcast on ABC (American Broadcasting Company) and 150 other international networks to an estimated 900 million people around the world.
Roxette will perform “Wish I Could Fly”, the lead single from the Have A Nice Day album.
Assuming that their segment is not cut, this will be the first time — in countries like the United States, for example — that Roxette has appeared on television in many years.
Fans want Gyllene Tider back on stage
Written by roxeteer on April 29, 2000 to Misc.
This year is the 20th anniversary of the release of Gyllene Tider’s debut album. What would be a better way to celebrate this than performing live? Tobias Henning and Sofia Björk, looking to repeat the success of the Marie tour campaign, have now made a website where you can sign a petition for a Gyllene Tider concert. In a couple of days the petition site will be updated with rare pictures, e.g. photos taken by a Micke “Syd” fan in 1981.

Gyllene Tider comes again - with a new single?
Written by roxeteer on April 26, 2000 to Misc.
Gyllene Tider’s self-titled debut album will be re-released in a fancy digipak on May 15. The album was originally released 20 years ago, in 1980. The songs from the original “Yellow EP”, released in 1978 with only 900 copies made, are on the cd as bonus tracks.
According to Expressen some of the bonus tracks may well become this year’s Swedish summer hit. A hot rumour has it that the song “Rembrandt” from EP will be released as a single!
Pressure from fans a factor in Marie’s decision to tour
Written by roxeteer on April 26, 2000 to Misc.
The pressure from fans, especially the Internet petition which was even mentioned in national newspapers in Sweden, helped Marie to decide to go on tour.
She sent this message through the fanclub:
- Dear fans,
- As I have now decided to do a Swedish summer tour of my own, I wanted to thank you all for your fantastic support & energy. Your dedication played a great part in my decision to actually take the time to tour. Thank you, thank you. See you out there this summer!
- Lot’s of love,

Marie tours in Sweden this summer
Written by roxeteer on April 26, 2000 to Misc.
Marie is going to have a summer tour after all. Thanks to the pressure from the fans, she has decided to do a major 18-concert tour through the whole Sweden.
Marie’s compilation album has sold 120000 copies in very short time. “I’m totally overwhelmed with the reception of this album. It was suddenly very clear that I had to try to get a tour going. To be on stage and sing my Swedish material in Swedish summer is something I don’t want to miss”, Marie says in an interview in Metro.
Aftonbladet writes that “Marie is a real rock bride” as she takes her husband and children with her on the tour. “I want [the children] to know what it is I’m doing”, Marie says in Aftonbladet. But when things get too hectic, they will stay in Stockholm with a babysitter.
Patrik Isaksson, young Swedish singer who duets with Marie on “Det som var nu”, has his own summer tour, but according to Marie it’s not impossible that he’d join Marie on stage this summer.
Marie had her previous solo tour in 1992.

Marie’s album straight to #1
Written by roxeteer on April 5, 2000 to Misc.
Great news from Sweden! Marie’s new complation album “Äntligen - Bästa [1984-2000]” went straight to number 1 on Swedish charts. The lead single, also entitled “Äntligen” (“Finally”), hasn’t had as much success: it’s on position #43 on Swedish single chart. This isn’t so much of a surprise, because both of the tracks on the single are also on the album, as Chris Oriet mentioned on the Roxette mailing list.
