Per is tired + Marie's condition = End of Roxette?

I think we will be hearing from D&D Management very very soon... :’(

Ok, so they have long jumped into the sharks tank, but anyways, what do you think?

Sounds like it. My first reaction after reading the Per news was “there we go! hint: Roxette wouldn’t have another album out or just not at all and if they will, then not as big!” So I guess I will go to a Roxette tour in my next life.

Yeah I thought the same when I read it, but I would rather they end it now that work themself into an early grave... When you think of it Per has been working non stop really since Marie was taking ill, promoting TPH & TBH, then doing Mazarin and the tour... and now with GT, no wonder the guy is tired it’s hardly surprising really...

Nothing last forever... maybe it’s a big hint to ease fans into gussing what is going to happen, although maybe it is just Per saying he is going to dissappear from the limelight for a couple of months maybe a year after the tour..

Either way I am not bothered... would rather see a well Per, that a sick on, as far as I am concerned Per, take as long as you need, spent time with the family... it is well deserved...

Love

Ally, Uk

I’m gonna keep the faith until I see/hear an official word from Per or Marie, saying that they’re stopping. For now, I have hopes of something new - whenever that may be.

it ain’t over ’till it’s over

naaa he will just have a rest for a while i believe.

No, I don´t think so.

Per needs to rest, that´s all. I hope Roxette will come back in 2006. Wait and see...

I think that Per’s comments have little relevance to the future of Roxette. 2 album & 2 tours in 2 years is hard work. I think that Per wanted to announce that he’d be taking next summer off before the fans speculated too much about which tour he’d be doing in 2005!

If there is to be another Roxette album then Per needs to be fresh and to have written lots of great songs otherwise the album will sound tired. So I think that his time off is a positive step for all concerned. Take it easy PG and write us some great new songs :-) Rich

Per and Marie love what they do - they have a very unique relationship (sort of bro & sis), so I am quite sure they will record together again (highly doubt they’d change the name of the project –>”Roxette” will return).

I think the willingness of Per & Marie is irrelivent as I don’t believe a major record label will want to release any more new material from them.

Steven, with all due respect, did you forget to take your anti-depresants this morning?

Actually, the translation of AB article on the frontpage is not really accurate. What it says is that it will probably take some YEARS until the next project. This is quite different to “it will take some time” as translated. Anyway, I don’t think it means the end of Roxette and for God’s sake, this sweet guy does need a well deserved break.

its all about faith!!....you know im a fan of bonjovi...and they did take a 5 years break..did solo thing...than comme back..released 4 album in two years...then its break...but not over...if it would have been over yet..it would have been anounce...but even if they say so...how many time did rolling stone came back..or any other band that quit then comeback because of nostalgia....if you listen to the radio the 80’s sound is coming back so!!....roxette is 80’s pop sound!!

its all about faith folks..!!

I believe Roxette will continue. Per needs just a rest, that’s all. Maybe 2006 will be the year for the next Rox album.

I believe that at least they will release 1 more album and will make 1 more tour. They can’t say goodbye without a tour, and to do that, they must release a new album.

Don’t be so tragic, it’s no the end of roxette.

QRoX

that’s it Qrox...do you remember folks when per denied a solo album on a chat transcript then couple of weeklater it was a surprise for all of us!!...per will tour with gt then rest and write...then wait for marie to do what she has to do...then...for sure Roxette will na na na our hears!!

I don’t think so. “Per is tired” cannot be the the only reason not to continue with Roxette. I wonder how much energy he had doing Mazarin+tour and then without a pause working with GT+ next summer tour. It’s quite normal that he’s tired, anyway it would happen, he’s not so young (but it would be rather hard to a younger man, too).
And Marie, after her illness, needs A LOT of time to return to a good condition. Maybe now she’s still not absolutely OK, we don’t know when her so much expected during recent time album appears. And she really shouldn’t work hard and will need a break after doing her solo album.
IMHO Per and Marie like to work with each other, and I think sooner or later Roxette must come back.

I guess he’ll take a long vacation, and during that period Marie will have lots of succes...after that I am confident Per cant’t stop writing and will write a new album...However, you never know if it’s gonna be Roxette, GT or solo work.....a swedish roxette album would be interesting ;)

of course not :)

This is not the end of Roxette, but it will take a long time for a new album. Maybe 2006 or 2007 as Qrox said.

i absolutely don’t think so, but it’s nice that we can talk about this at least once in a month

It is no wonder Per is tired.
He has been busy, the last years.
He needs some time off, but knowing Per he won’t sit still for a long time.
He is adicted to making music!

2004 GT-tour
End of 2004 or begin 2005 Marie’s new album
2005 Per takes a rest
2006 Roxette Back (20 years aniversary album?)

Wow! Thats a good idea! in 2006 20 years anniversary...as long as they dont make ANOTHER complilation then :P We need a new album!

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH Qrox!!!
I think it’s obvious Per feels tired,he doesn’t stop since 3 years ago!!He deserve a break!
While Per is taking his break,Marie is going to release her brand new album, always work in this way! 2006 is the year for Roxette, they’re celebrating 20 jubileum, they can’t say goodbye with a tour.

i hope Per or Marie give an interview tellin´ what´s going on, i mean we are their fans, and in the last time we are always guessing and trying to find out about the roxette future. I want a real interview but in a serious magazinne. (no more expressen or aftonbladet, they ´re maily gossip)

J,

The fat lady’s sung?

*clears throat and starts to warble*

Ummmmmmmmmmm I think I’ll pledge to donate £100 to a charity of TDR’s choice when ROXETTE released a new album! (That means new as in tracks etc... and NOT another compilation!) no need to start saving just yet!!!!!

As a UK fan, I feel like they ended the day WICF left the singles chart.I’d love at least 1 more REAL single before they call it quits - that’s it, just 1 more single.

july 2004-july 2005 -july 2006
2 yearS-as article said ;-)
even another few months – the new roxette album will be as Christmas present.
It’ll be PERfect ;-)

Per should visit one of the high-end all-inclusive resorts on Cozumel off the Mexican coast for two weeks, where he likely would not be recognized. Once you check in, the stay is absolutely effortless – a great place for an exhausted person to sit on the beach or by the pool, and any time you’re hungry there is food/drink available. For some people to obtain proper rest, they must be truly removed from their regular lives and go to a place where leisure/inactivity is literally forced upon them. I went to the Iberostar on Cozumel by myself for a week, and the most stressful things anyone said to me were, “May I refill your glass?” and “How would you like that steak cooked?” Per could probably use a break like that. (Who couldn’t?!!)

Yes please!

lets give him the time he needs to relax. I still belive that we will hear something new from Marie soon.

IMHO Roxette isn’t over yet. ;-)

yeah, and for that 20th aniversary in 2006, maybe they can release a brand new greatest hits album :p. or a double cd including both the pop hits and the ballad hits and ONE BRAND NEW song.

eeehhhh yes,yes....Listen them Per.
it takes you no time to get there..;-)

what about 20 anniversary CD BOX-SET in 2006?

who would buy another boxset?
tph are still piling in the shops.
either new stuff or no sells. that’s the game.

do you realise that roxette are real dinosaurs among the popstars right now? i mean ’in a few years’ properly translated means ’never’.
hope i’m wrong, but per has never stated anything the like before; it really seems he wants to draw away from roxette.

I´m so worried. What is life without them.
Their solo projects doesn´t satisfy me!

I could understand Per if he decided not to continue Roxette. For Roxette he had to do promotions all over Europe. For solo projects or GT it’s enough to promote in Sweden. And the chance for a real succesful Roxette album is very little (really succesful means - as Roxette deserve - #1). And please stop mentioning Marie’s illness as a reason for not doing new Roxette stuff. She’s ok again. I think everything depends on Per. He has to write new songs, not Marie. He needs the inspiration. And he has to have courage. He is on top right now. Why starting a risky Roxette project that propably would become a flop, if he doesn’t need more money anymore? Per doesn’t need Roxette anymore to be musician. All logical reasons are against Roxette. I hope I’m wrong and Per loves Rexette as much as we do...

“Dinosaurs” may seem harsh, but it’s another way of saying Roxette appears to have reached a creative plateau, and that younger artists are emerging and occupying the public spotlight.

It’s best hoped that the plateau it temporary, that time off for resting will re-fill the well, and future songs will be forthcoming. People who are driven toward creative artistry, such as song-writing, generally don’t reach a point where they stop. However, they definitely do get tired if they perform too much.

As for today’s emerging artists – I meant to say “so-called artists.” So much of our contemporary pop music is egregiously over-studioed (instruments, electronics etc) in addition to being void of noteworthy melodies and meaningful lyrics. No pop music of Roxette’s quality is being produced these days. There may be little bursts here and there... one of the best examples thereof is Sheryl Crow’s “First Cut is the Deepest,” but that is only an updated rehash of an ancient Cat Stevens song. Nobody today is coming anywhere near penning the sort of lyrics/melodies that Per Gessle routinely turns out.

I’ve heard rumors that Roxette will reunite next year.
It’s just a rumor, but then I love rumors...

I think they could get popular again with songs like “The Heat Shaped Sea”, “Watercolours In The Rain” and so on.
Watch the charts very closely and look where people like Norah Jones, Katie Melua, Dido, etc. are.

I think this would be the only way to reach the top again. Songs like “Opportunity Nox” are predestinied to reach the opposite of the top.
It’s one of the worst songs I ever heard in my whole life.
The time for songs like this, MMHGP or Real Sugar is definitely gone.

Yeah we all love those rumours...

Roxette are not finished yet.
2006 will be thier 20th anniversary and they can’t ignore that. They’ll do something i think.
So all i say to them is ’do what you have to do. have a long break and come back better than ever!’
Roxfans will be happy with whatever you decide to do.

Just wait until then... hope that fashion goes as it did in the early 90’s too... LOL we looked hillarious back then
