Favourite album closer?
animalkingdom said on June 3, 2004 14:19:
Which one is your favourite from these album closers?
So Far Away
Listen To Your Heart
Perfect Day
Queen Of Rain
Go To Sleep
I Don’t Want To Get Hurt
Beautiful Things
My World, My Love, My Life
Breathe
Little Miss Sorrow
I really got to go with Perfect Day! If it was recorded now I am sure they’d put it out as a separate single!
purplemedusa said on June 3, 2004 14:32:
One thing about Roxette is that they really know how to end an album => I really can’t choose, I love all!
Denstandigaresan said on June 3, 2004 14:54:
Perfect Day. :)
I love how Joyride begins so grrrrr and poppy and ends all ballady and lovely. :)
Zargo said on June 3, 2004 15:27:
Probably Little Miss Sorrow, but it doesn’t really fit with the while ballad thing that list has going...
I don’t really think compilations should be included.
Without compilations it would be Queen of Rain.
JoyRidErno said on June 3, 2004 16:08:
Hmm... First I thought it would be GTS, then Perfect Day... Queen Of Rain, I Don’t Wanna Get Hurt...
If I say Go To Sleep...
MiracleMan said on June 3, 2004 17:37:
Interesting how all but Little Miss Sorrow are ballads.
They’re all great closers (except I’ll confess LMS isn’t IMHO the best of songs. . . just my opinion). Close slow and start over again witha rousing opener.

Go To Sleep or Little Miss Sorrow..... theres just something about Go To Sleep thats so special.....
harriej said on June 3, 2004 20:26:
Quite often the album closers is (one of the) best songs of the album!
anyway, My World, My Love, My Life and Breathe are absolutely great!
The others are pretty good as well!
rox-kuryliw said on June 3, 2004 22:06:
didnt see ’breathe’ but i dont count that as its on a compilation sorry !
Roxlander said on June 3, 2004 22:25:
All they are wonderful songs, some of the best ever, but as the perfect closer I’d chose “Go to sleep”.
oshtay said on June 3, 2004 22:59:
I’d have to go with ’Perfect Day’.
Even now I still get those goosebumps.
carbon_boy said on June 4, 2004 06:28:
I like a big...nono... a HUGE epic song to end off an album, or somethging that has that “the cd is finished. so f&*$ off now” concept to it. SO I’d go with any of the following:
So far away, Listen to your heart, Perfect day, Go to sleep, Beautiful things and My world....
Cheers

I think Beautiful Things demo was so much better than what they released in the album...
“Have a nice day” version is the caricature of a ballad. It just doesn’t make any sense. Those stupid strings arrangements kill it, the changes in dynamics are awful, the bass line should be an example of what “not to do” in a textbook for bass players, the piano is played terribly bad, so dumb... sounds like Paul Weller was playing it :s... It really makes you want to stop the CD at once.
While the demo is full of guitars, elegant... I just don’t know what they were thinking, but that version with Per on the backing vocals, a professional production and mastering and a bit of promotion could have been the big comeback for Roxette... Marie should do a version of it in an own English album of hers and release it as a single, to show Per they should trust her once in a while...

My choice without compliations:
1. Listen To Your Heart (real hymn, strong contrast to the rest of the album)
2. Queen Of Rain (incredible atmospheric)
3. Perfect Day (goosepumps!)
4. Beautiful Things (i like both versions, this one’s very classic)
5. Go To Sleep (i love it except the intro and outro)
6. My World, My Love, My Life (just think it’s played a bit to fast)
7. So Far Away (prefer the tourism version, feels much deeper)
RobS said on June 7, 2004 08:09:
hard decision!? probably Queen of Rain & Perfect Day.
But there all great songs :-)
maiken said on June 7, 2004 19:59:
I was going through the list and each time I read a new song name I thought it was that one. So, my answer is all of them. If I HAD to give an answer, I’d say..... Go To Sleep! But really, I love all of them!! The should put out a closers-cd! :o)
animalkingdom said on June 7, 2004 20:13:
@ above
Maku, my love, hush-hush! I hear Gessle comes here every now and then - - you don’t wanna give him any crazy ideas of another collection, do ya? ;)

spending my time, what a powerful song not forgetting the video.my choice
animalkingdom said on June 8, 2004 09:25:
And exactly which album had SMT as the closer track? It’s brilliant people don’t understand what they’ve read or how to read in the first place!
marksufc said on June 11, 2004 02:05:
i’m sorry animalkingdom i was a little drunk that night, the reason i said s,m,t was because you know how emotional you can get when you have a few drinks & you play one of your fave songs?i meant to say my world,my love,my life.there i hope thats better
Santi said on June 11, 2004 03:52:
If you were drunk I think it can be an album closer. lol :D You can fall asleep after it quite easily :DDDDDD
Anyway, the “album closer” of Pearls of Passion for me has always been “Goodbye to you”... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Oscarbcn said on June 12, 2004 12:00:
Coyboy, guess you don’t like Breathe at all... :)
Mine is...Go to Sleep
RoxHard said on June 12, 2004 18:44:
Pardon my ignorance, but wasn’t Pearls Of Passion the closer to, em..., Pearls Of Passion? That’s what it says on my version of the CD, and on the CD case of Don’t Bore Us, Get To The Chorus!
And Go To Sleep is my favourite. I just love the melody to the Chorus of that song! It’s just so, so so beautiful!
Edit - I’d like to include my full chart.
(01) Go To Sleep
(02) Beautiful Things
(03) I Don’t Want To Get Hurt
(04) So Far Away
(05) Listen To Your Heart
(06) Queen Of Rain
(07) My World, My Love, My Life
(08) Breathe
(09) Little Miss Sorrow
(10) Perfect Day
Santi said on June 12, 2004 19:07:
Nopes, Pearls of Passion was the B-side to the single Soul Deep. The album closer is So Far Away...
except for me that if I try to listen to it complete I fall asleep in “Goodbye to you” :p
girl7twenty7 said on June 15, 2004 09:52:
My Top3
1. Listen to your heart (BEST)
2-3. So far away & Perfect day (great too)
If we include compilations, it will be something like

And my favourite song, Listen To Your Heart. It’s great!!!!!!

GO TO SLEEP

Is there a favorite opener thread? I’d start one but I’d rather not repeat. . .
per4me said on June 19, 2004 02:24:
for me it is a tie between go to sleep and listen to your heart. but they are all so great that it is very hard to choose.
Roxer93 said on June 20, 2004 08:14:
Perfect Day/ Go To Sleep. Little Miss Sorrow is a GREAT song but if it wasn’t on a compilation, I don’t think it would be a closer. Santi- you call yourself a Roxette fan?????
harriej said on June 20, 2004 08:21:
@Santi: Any track can be the album closer, if you put the cd-player on shuffle/random playing order.
RoxHard said on June 20, 2004 16:46:
I’m dissapointed with I Don’t Want To Get Hurts performance. I personally would like to see it past Queen Of Rain. It is their Ultimate ballad, for me.
And I stand by Santi on POP. It isn’t their nicest album. Does anyone not agree with that? In that case, what is their worst album? (ooh, this could get interesting!)
RoxHard said on June 20, 2004 16:49:
And I seem to be the only person here who doesn’t like Perfect Day. I listened to Joyride last night (still fuming Hotblooded wasn’t a single!!). And I listened to Perfect Day. And I can tell you, it didn’t move me one bit! Could someone please tell me what you like about the song? I find it a little bit cheesy (especially that ’dropping water’ sound effect that comes in around the 2nd verse).

[04] Queen Of Rain (4 votes)
