Okay.. I need to know and have been trying to find out for some time the anwser to the following:
The little icons on the desktop, I want to give them a background colour on the writing, EG internet, word etc....
If you get my drift so they stand out of the desktop more.... I know how to change the font and make the icons bigger just can’t seem to get a background colour...??
I will be so grateful if you can help!!

GET WINDOWS 2000 PRO... trash that XP garbage. 2000 is more stable and it’s like 98, more user friendly

i’ve had xp since it came out and i have never had stability problems 98 / me original were horrible operating systems

I have never had any problems, in fact I love it... but then again I have only ever used 98 & 2000 either at work or college.. this is the first home system I have had.....

No-one I know that works with PC’s will recommend XP. One shop near me won’t even sell PC’s with it on.
I have ME... and I like it. :) Mind, I was using 95 up until March! ;)

There is nothing wrong with Windows XP, people should not put it down so much unless of course they have tried it... I am not gonna buy a PC with windows XP on to go out and spend money on windows 2000... that would be stupid...
Denstandigaresan said on December 20, 2003 20:43:
Of course, if I bought a new PC with it on, I would keep it.
But, unlike some. I’m happy with ME. Some still like 98, it’s each to their own.
It’s how you treat the older OS’s... I know quite a bit about PCs, if I don’t, I know people that do.
My downside is hardware. Going inside PC’s scares me! ;)

I’ve used the following:
Windows 3.11
Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows 2000 (current OS)
Windows Me
Windows XP
Personally, I prefer 2000 because ME and XP won’t run 95% of my games on them as they were designed for 95/98/2000/NT and the companies haven’t or won’t patch them to use. PLUS, the “softer, gentler” look of ME / XP is a load of shit. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll crash your HD repeatedly. I know. I’ve had to reformat a friend’s THREE TIMES because he fouled stuff up so badly....
Denstandigaresan said on December 21, 2003 14:05:
I obviously know what i’m doing, cause never crashed. :D My mouse used to seize up(but it was known with the mouse I had), so I would have to reboot... or aol would get poopy and crash out on me. Orrrr... if I didn’t defrag for a couple months, would get the blue screen of death, but a defrag would sort.
I’m ok, cause the games I have run on ME. Ones that say 95/98 or XP only run coolness too. But I don’t play games anymore. Get bored easy!

I use Windows 2000 and experience hardly any problems.
A friend of mine bought a new pc with XP on it and had loads of trouble.
After removing XP and installing 2000, the problems were all gone.
So my advise: Get rid of XP!!
@Denstandigaewsan: There is a programme which can make sure you don’t get the BLUE screens of death; with this programme you make it green, yellow, red or whatever you want :)
Denstandigaresan said on December 21, 2003 18:22:
Ooh, red screen of death! OOOOH, Green, ooooh YELLOW! That would be kind of cool! :D
But I’ve seen it maybe twice since March... so don’t think it would be worth it. :(
But, that is pretty cool. :D

on ME... you bring up desktop properties, then choose desktop from drop down menu.
But like I said, that’s ME.
