What was the last CD you bought?
StupidGirl said on September 16, 2003 08:45:
Everytime you buy a CD (or a record, mp3, whatever) you can write what it was here. I find it quite interesting what other people like. Or what combinations of music some people listen to. Of course you can also write a little comment about it, if you like.
StupidGirl said on September 16, 2003 08:55:
So, I’ll just start myself, too.
Last week I bought:
Brad Mehldau - The Art Of Trio 4
Jazz. I don’t normally listen to jazz. But I like some of his songs (e.g. he covers Radiohead’s “exit music (for a film”). And it was extremely cheap ;)
Josh Rouse - Under Cold Blue Stars
Alternative. I saw it really cheap, too. I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise, but it’s nice.
Muse - Time is running out
It’s the first single I bought in ages, I’m more of an album buyer. But again it was the price which convinced me ;)
Audio Bullys - Ego War
Hooligan House. I heard they sound a bit like the Streets. And then I heard one of their songs on a compilation and I was convinced to buy the album. And I don’t regret it, so far.
The Rapture - Echoes
New Wave/Disco Punk. Quite good stuff, if you like Radio 4 or Hot Hot Heat you should also try the Rapture

@Purpelmedusa: I only own the debut album of Turin Brakes. i liked it, but never bothered to buy the Ether Songs, too. Don’t know why really. They’re nice, but not... I don’t know... exciting.
purplemedusa said on September 16, 2003 09:02:
Got to agree... nothing exciting (ala pop music) however their music got distinct soul to it. Pitty the new Ep won’t be released in SA. (As a rule SA don’t get EP’s which seems to be making it’s comeback in the international music scene... even the R Stones released one recently)

last CD I got was in April: “Lost peoples area” by Buddaboys (feat. Eva Dahlgren), very nice guitar-pop, nice melodies and lyrics and voices :)
Last dl CD: Metallica St Anger + The Rasmus Dead Letters, both are fantastic! Metallica’s of course a bit more “heavier” than The Rasmus, which are quite commercial, but still top quality :)
Wops, forgot to mention Per’s Mazarin that I got after Buddaboys (June) and Pop Hits which I finally got last August!

I never buy CDs except Roxette’s and Queen’s. I used to buy lots and have a big collection of Pink FLoyd, the Beatles, The Doors, Dire Straits, U2 and ... But I stopped buying just anyone’s CD 3 years ago. I’ve only bought Roxette and Queen these past few years with a few exceptions of the bands I named above. The last CD I bought was Mazarin.

’The Platinum Collection’ - Queen
’Older’ - George Michael
’Senorita’ (Australian import single) - Justin Timberlake
’Hit The Freeway’ (Australian import single) - Toni Braxton
’Pavement Cracks’ (U.S. maxi-single) - Annie Lennox
Those are the ones I’ve bought in the last 10 days.
TheRain1981 said on September 20, 2003 06:39:
Yes! Believe it or not, the USA was the only country to get a single for “Pavement Cracks.” (This is very odd considering singles here are rare as it is). There’s a total of 7 tracks - one is the original album version and the other 6 are remixes! The “Shanghai Surprise” and “Mac Quale” mixes are my favorite. It’s a shame that these mixes weren’t commercially released worldwide. Damn record company! Her new international single, “A Thousand Beautiful Things,” also is not going to be commercially released (or so I read). Here in the USA, we got “Wonderful” as the 2nd single instead. Maybe we will get lucky again.
DaminehGessle said on September 20, 2003 23:18:
TheRain1981: Good choice :). Queen rocks heehee.
I am a huge Queen fan and for the past 2 days, been watching all my Queen DVDs (got 6 of them, all). My roommate was amazed that I do not get bored of watching it for 2 days in a row. I was like: dear, I have been watching Queen since 1986 and I am still a great fan. She couldn’t believe it :).

And two CDs by turkish artists.
I didn’t buy those four CDs, though. :)

Tomorrow I’m going to buy the new Sting recording. :-) (even if it’s more out of habit than because I am very happy with Sting’s new style, but anyway)
Recently I’ve bought “The Thrills - So much for the city’ pretty okay, but that’s about it.
TheRain1981 said on September 22, 2003 05:46:
DaminehGessle, my Queen purchase is a bit random. It was actually my brother singing along to “We Are The Champions” a few weeks back that somewhat sparked an interest. I never paid that much attention to the song. But I just really started getting into it. Then I heard “A Kind Of Magic” on an 80s online radio station about 2 weeks ago. I didn’t even know who it was. So I did some searching and found it was Queen. I loved the song.

Still want the DVD version. :(

Sarah McLachlan’s Afterglow. Unfortunately, it seems not so much new as a retread of Fumbling Toward Ecstacy and a lot of her other work. Rather bland.

Well, technically, the Canadian issue of “The World According to Gessle,” yesterday, second hand. It was the only Canadian release I was missing in my Rox collection. Before that, Sarah McLachlan’s “Afterglow” and Tom Cochrane’s “Trapeze” (greatest hits, best tracks on it “Sinking Like a Sunset,” written by ANET, and “Pictures from the Edge”).
Jud (moderator) said on December 14, 2003 20:13:
bon jovi - this left feels right “greatest hits with a twist”, just awesome!!!! Wish Rox would do something like this some day..
barn på nytt - various artists singing Astrid Lindgren songs (pippi and co). Artist like Lisa Nilsson, Robyn, Eva Dahlgren or Totta Näslund.. great songs, great voices :) Brought lots of memories from my childhood :P

Yeaaaaah,
Da Buzz “More Than Alive” is a great Swedish Pop album. “Alive” is a Great song.
Though their lyrics could be better
I recenntly bought Fancy’s “All My Loving” album from 1988. It’s Great Pop/Disco (Very Romantic), way better than anything Madonna relased in the states at that time :)

purplemedusa said on September 16, 2003 08:52:
Roxette - Room Service 2cd... This must have been the 9th copy i’ve bought so far.
The last new edition to my cd collection was Turin Brake’s Ether Song. Very thoughtfull lyrics with a distinct sound... the compilation of the disk reminds me of the Den Standiga Resan album... however this music does make you feel you like jumping off a 10-story building.
