Doesn't X-mas suck?

What is it that you hate the most? The weather? The kids running and screaming around the house? Your in-laws? Deaf & smelly grandma? The stupid tree? The food? The kid’s choir? Your family? The scenery/theming EVERYWHERE?

The whole thing just ANNOYS ME!!! >:(

what I hate about Xmas? the fact that I’ll be celebrate that all alone...

My only Christmas problems right now are being able to afford to buy for people, and the fact that I’m single. :(

I am always single...

What I hate about Xmas?

Parents lying to their children: Santa Clause e.g.. People pretending to love each other, while they don’t even talk for the rest of the year. The pressure to buy gifts as a pay-back...

Presenting Xmas like a christian celebration, while for fact it has nothing to do with Jesus. Even the pope admitted that it came from an old roman cult. Jesus was born in autumn, the first christians didn’t celebrate birthdays at all.

>>> It’s all about one big lie!

obviously some people grew up too quick.
or perhaps it’s taking me too long... :/

So what from where x-mas is coming from! I think it is a nice tradition and I like it a lot!

I LOVE christmas not xmas. Call me old fashioned but its a wonderful Christian festival . Xmas is just a cheap way to get money out of people so i hate xmas , but love christmas, its what you want it to be. Another thing while im on a roll lol, why do people in america say happy holidays instead of merry christams and a happy new year ??

Christmas has gotten to be too commercialised. Yes, it’s been “gimme gimme gimme, I want I want I want”. C’mon. You were a kid once. But what kills me is when I hear about people getting trips out of country, or to a ski resort or some other silly thing.

Being Non-Christian, the holiday itself has a different meaning for me personally, but I’m tired of the ADULTS doing the “gimme gimme gimme, I want I want I want”

well it is christmas the meaning is lost now. i dont know why Non-Christian people even celebrate it to be honest , they are the people who have turned it into something of a commercal thing. I love giving presents me :-)) and the whole feeling of the festive season.

I hate materialism.

holidays are what you make them if you make them suck then thats your problem the whining doesnt help :)

Rox: I was brought up Christian, yes. It is recently that I have decided to investigate “alternative religions”. I remember Christmas as the time when family came from out of state (I lived with my grandparents, so it was aunts / uncles / cousins) to visit one another. This time was usually the only time of year to see them. That and Thanksgiving. The family would rotate holidays. One aunt and her family would come in for Thanksgiving one year, and the next, they’d come in for Christmas.

I choose to celebrate Christmas this year... but not as it traditionally is. As I am “learning my new religion” I am learning the different ways to celebrate. That, and it kinda kills the curiosity as to why I don’t celebrate it until I’m ready to declare my choices to my family. My mom will wind up disowning me, because she’s heavy into Christianity and this will go against EVERYTHING she believes in.

I used never cared about christmas, but now not anymore, in fact I can’t wait for it to comes...

I love many things about christmas.

Even it’s basically for Christian, but I see now many non christian people celebrating too. and they seemed enjoy that. To me, Christmas is time to share love to each other, no matter what religion we are from... I still believe in the magic of christmas...

I even love Santa Claus, Rudolph and all the xmas character. Maybe it sounds like I’m childish or something. I guess I am just missing my childhood time....

well, since the topic is about “suck xmas”, I’ll try to think what makes it suck...

1. I’ll be alone without my special someone, since he live so far away...
2. I won’t be able to see a xmas tree in the room I rent
3. I won’t be able to hear xmas song, well maybe if I go to the mall I might hear those...
4. I won’t be able eat my traditional food...
5. This is my second xmas without my dogs :(

anyway, peace 4 everyone...

yea they DO suck. worst thing about it is that i’m trying to forget, trying not to remember... i don’t want anything to remind me about xmas... but what?? my whole city is looking like one big f***ing xmas tree right from the begining of november!!! i hate xmas, it’s my private opinion, but why everything around is telling me that they’ll come in a minute? [in a month]

i hope that people won’t start celebrating xmas in june for example in near future....

and a question - xmas are in english single or plural? cos here in poland, xmas are plural, i think it is because they take more than one day [25.12 & 26.12 + 24.12 as an eve]

Here in the US it runs December 24 as Christmas Eve and December 25 as Christmas Day. But it’s still just one entity

Agree with LS,too commercialised!!
But,i still like the atmosphere around that time :)
Allthought, everyone should love eachother all year long, and not just on X-mas!!!

how can you say you hate christmas? how can anyone feel that? perhaps it that I’ve been brought up different from you, I’m not sure. perhaps my culture is different from you, or perhaps I just haven’t grown up yet, but to say that someone hates christmas feels wrong, sad and depressing. I dunno what to say to that, except I hope it never happens to me :-/

its only commercialized if you let it be

then let’s not make it commercialized.

I never really need xmas, until I move to the place where people hardly ever celebrating it...

It seems that the holidays here get fused together from Halloween to St Patrick’s Day. Once the Back to School suff gets put out, the Halloween stuff comes quickly, Thanksgiving next, then Valentine’s Day stuff gets put on the shelves December 26th, and St Pat’s is out Febuary 15th. Not sure if it’s like that in other countries.

I love Christmas—giving is such a pleasure. But the music gets overbearing. I try desperately to avoid the radio stations, especially the ones that play “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer”—an innanely repetitious, totally nauseating, utterly charmless holiday “song” that makes me homicidal. Don’t wanna hear a Christmas song until Christmas week.

@MM: Don’t worry....on Jan 2nd the easter eggs will be out on the shelf ;)

Anyway....personaly I don’t really hate christmas....its just not a time of year that I associate with being overly happy.

My mum and dad split up years ago (when I was very small) so at this time of year I feel for my mum as she has no one but my brother and me, you can sometimes feel guilty for going out and having a good time with friends when you know she’s at home watching tv or whatever on her own.
As for my dad.....well.....last year my brother and myself had a christmas card between us, not even sure there was a call on christmas day.
I guesse this makes me bitter but i’m not the only one who has this problem so I just get on with it.

Don’t get me wrong....christmas has always been a happy occasion but I just hate the fact that you’re not allowed to be a little down at this time of year....its the whole ’cheer up its christmas’ attitude that does my head in, not everyone feels the same way about it.
No one ever says ’cheer up its easter’ ;)

@zaine: i hate xmas because of my family. everyone is pretending that we are one big great famliy and everybody loves everybody...those meetings with grandpas and grandmas, uncles, aunts and those stupid questions they ask... i don’t like these traditional dishes also. i don’t like giving and receiving gifts. i do not like doing this shopping with my mother... and i can’t even meet with my girlfriend during xmas. isn’t it weird?

VIX—How could I have forgotten Easter?! Yes, it bridges St. Pat’s to Memorial Day here (a military remembrance day—postal holiday, too—and a time to put flowers on the graves for departed loved ones) and the flags stay out for the 4th of July. Then the fireworks stand sprout up like weeds.

@Jackeill, I’m sorry to hear that. But to me christmas is so special. I have been brought up christian, and have always had a traditional christmas. I’m lucky enough to have a great family who enjoy it, and try to make it special for us kids. Has just been us four at home (me, mum and dad and sister) although this year our grandparents might come and stay too. I love to get presents for other people and watch them being opened. I hate the fact my parents don’t have much money, but try and get us big presents anyway. They’ll save all yeah just to get the special gift we wanted. I love watching all the crap old films, and wallace & Gromit, and Jurrassic park year after year with a buffet lunch of cold turkey. I love when my neighbour knocks on the door asking me to go out and play with his new toys. I love the old records we dig out and put on. I love the pantomimes which give me an excuse to go to theatre. I love the last day of school, where everyone prats about and won’t do anywork. I love wiching that it would snow, when it blatantly won’t.
for me christmas is the best time of the year, and is one of the only times I look forward to. sorry for long lists of i love... blablabla, but it’s just too great.

*agrees with Vee*

I forgot the “cheer up it’s x-mas” factor. Now that really adds to the mixture.

During the Christmas holidays its always busy round here... kids running around like bloody hooligans! clean here, clean there.... wipe here, then wipe it again 2 seconds later!!!! Im 21yrs old and I need a bloody life on Christmas, but no I need to stay back and make sure nothing is destroyed by my nieces and nephews!!! but I wouldnt change it for the world.... Christmas for me is all about spending time with my family and..... cleaning up. (someone shoot me plz).. The meaning of Christmas is special... dont let those other sad things get ya down if something can be done about it. :)
