There is a great interview with Per in a Tv -program- newspaper, which you can buy together with Expressen.
He talks about his fave cakes:
1, Mazarin , of course. Konditori Regnbågen in Halmstad has just enough big ones.
2, Wienerbröd ( Danish pastry) -with lots of vanilla sauce
3, Ballerina ( Swedish vanilla- chocolate cookie with hazelnut ) A real classic, Gabriel´s fave too.
4,Pepperkakor ( swedish ginger bread)
Great in x-mas time.
5, Kanelbulle ( cinnamon bun)
I don´t think he eats too much of them , he is too thin.

Halmstad CIDER is GRRRREEAT...(but not if you know real cider from France)...Swedish cider is just sweet sweet and sweet again. BUT GREAT!!! Best to drink during “AFTER BEACH” at Tylösand, icecold...and my new fave : Cactus-lime-Cider...yummie....
I prefer the cheap Marzarin from the fillingstation...or ICA..or Delicato...Regnbågen is..hmm..sorry not THAT nice but okay but too expensive.
Hmm...and I had some really nice “Göteborgs-citron-cookies” this year.
And always and and forever : KEX from Cloetta!!!!
Per is eating cookies???? >:)

The best Mazarin in Halmstad do you get in Klammerdammsgåtan at “Östras Bröd”...wow!!! They are soooooo fresh!! Gimme more!

I don´t like Halmstad cider cause it tastes like all the other cider kinds we have in Sweden = soda water. They have nothing to do with real cider since they consist more or less only chemicals. Real cider should be made out of real apples like they do in France (also tasted really good cider on Ireland). But sure, the taste is maybe ok now and then, but calling it cider... naaaaaaahhh ;-)
And I have to say against you a bit there kiwein. Östras are good, but they are best at breads. The best Mazarin you can get in Halmstad is (in my opinion) from a café called “Regnbågen”. It is where Per & Co. buy cakes as well when they are at T&A. That café has by the way been awarded “Sweden´s best café” (for their quality of cakes/cookies/breads) many years in a row! :-)

We tested the Mazarins from Regnbågn and didn’t like it very much! They tasted old and not very fresh. We loved Östras Mazarins very much and didn’t understand why Per didn’t buy them there - they are MUCH better! (-;
There’s no argument about good taste...everbody as he/she likes it.
Jud (moderator) said on September 25, 2003 22:29:
whatever cider that is, I luv it :D
(of course the French one is also yuumm! - btw Per, we gotta think what we get next week ;))
per_mson said on September 25, 2003 22:46:
@kiwein: Sure, the taste is like the rear.. divided! ;) But maybe you got the worst Mazarin´s Regnbågen ever made or something, hihi! At least I have always had Regnbågen as my fav. place when it comes to cakes. And I tried quite some café´s in Halmstad during the 8.5 years I lived there. :) But as I said.. Östras is not bad! :)
@Judith: Yes, that we should.. but keep our Halmstad cider, hihi! ;) How about “the running Sushi”?? I bet two other people would like that! ;-)
gyllene_tjej said on September 26, 2003 14:49:
@Lurirox: the thing in a paper wasn’t really an interview, just Per’s comments on every city he brought his Mazarin to. :)
About the Swedish ciders. I surely tried a lot to find the one and only and it is NOT true, they all taste the same like a soda ;) Take Kapparbergs, it gives you a bitter aftertaste and is really lousy compared to Halmstads! :)
I know it’s a girly drink and that’s what I’ve been looking for. Skål! :D

I am remembering a certain chocolate cake from this bakery and I understand why they got this title. ;) *yummy*

Regnbågen´s ” räkpinne” is delicious too.
Skånes hembageriet is also a great café.
I like their bluberry and raspberry pie.

yum!!! the wienerbröd is just delicious!! :D
It is the first thing I bought when I arrived in Sthlm for the first time in 99, at the pressbyrö, and i was “OMG what’s this” :D - and the ones there are not even the best ones -
so now it is a classic.. eeeeverytime I go to Sweden, I gotta buy these cakes.. as well as cider, center chocolate etc etc ;)
