derek: have you read “time line” by michael crichton? it’s about time travel...it is a truely mindblowing book.
LittleSpooky said on August 31, 2003 15:14:
No no no no no.
I’ll tell you why:
It would be to easy to screw up the way the time-line is running right now. Say you went back to see your mom or your dad as a teenager or young adult, just to see what they were like. You’re “observing” your dad when out of nowhere, a car comes along and hits him. You have the ability, so why not go back and save him all that suffering. Guess what?! YOU’RE NOT BORN!!!! Because as a result of your father getting hit by that car, he meets your mother, who is an admissions clerk or works at the hospital. They don’t meet, don’t fall in love, and you’re not born. Oh sure, you might be... but you won’t be the person you are today.
As for visiting the future, THAT is the mother of all screw-ups. You see yourself 20 or 30 years from now, so you know you can take all these reckless chances because what the hey, you’ve seen yourself in the future. In the mean time, someone else gets killed from your reckless abandonment and that person might have been the man / woman that cured AIDS, or cancer, or something like that.
No no no no no no no no no no no no

@kachina.no i havent read “time line”but i will check it out thanks
@littlespooky .calm down ok did you read what i said i would like to go back before any thing was born yes i do understand what you mean but that wasnt my question a lot has been lost in history as kachine said and yes i know we could interfier with time and try to change it but i dont think thats possible i think that there are laws in this universe that would stop that happening
Santi said on August 31, 2003 20:33:
I doubt a lot you would be able to visit the beginning of the Universe.
Because there is no place from where you can watch it, since energy, matter time but also space was created in that moment. That would mean that your “spacecraft” would be inside all that, and it would fry among billions of wild quarks flying around without any order... I don’t recommend you that :D

Hmmmmmmm,i saw yesterday “Pirates of the Caribbean” I’d love to go there,Also the time of D’artangnan and so :p
Ferdan said on September 1, 2003 12:24:
you can’t visit the future to see yourself, because you’re already altering your present
Let’s imagine Time as a computer...
you have to input your own info every second of Time (just to make a measure)...
now if you go to the future, allright, but since you went to the future, you haven’t been making inputs of your own info each second of time....
so the computer does all its calculations without you, like if you ceased to exist.... people around you would look for you as if you were kidnapped or missing, and that one will be the “soon future” you’re gonna see if you visit it...
so you can’t never see the future it would be if you never had travelled in time.

im afraid the future does not interest me ill make it as i go along ok santi you have a good point but if you were protected in some way i would still like to see it and i bet you would to

They say that “if you can remember the sixties, you didn’t live them”, or something like that :D
Aaso said on September 2, 2003 07:11:
I’d love to go back and meet Julius Sezar (again I’m not sure about the spell)! And after that meet Mark Antoni .... It would be a great moment!

I think time travel will always be just a fantasy. But if I could travel in time I’d go back 2000 years ago and meet Jesus. And the other important date I’d go would be February 6th and 7th, 1999. And if I could I’d repeat those two days over and over and over again :-)
derek said on September 2, 2003 18:54:

@Aaso i would also like to meet or see Julies Cesar he was a great tacticion

Oh dear lord... sunnshy... When I first read the topic, I was like: 60s or 70s is all I need to see :). 70s i believe was the best time to live on this planet as ... aaaaaaaaaaa... I am speechless.

Hated Bact To The Future, actually.
There are other things, tv shows, that have done the “Time Travel” thing:
Star Trek (just about ALL of the series have had one, two, or more time travel eps)
I wish I could remember what movie this was from, but it was about this kid, who travelled back in time to meet his uncle who was famous. They’d written a book about his life as a cop and all the people he’d saved over the years. They had to follow this book to the ABSOLUTE letter, or else the future would turn out very different than what it was. For example, his uncle’s girl friend (Soon to be this kid’s aunt) was kidnapped.
The uncle races to save her, but hears about 50 people trapped in a NY Subway for some reason. He was going to forgo rescuing the 50 people, but by doing so, inadvertantly saves his gf at the same time. So the kid tells him he’s got to hot foot it over to the Subway to rescue the 50 people. Good movie... but seen it like 15 years ago.

Actually, I’d looove to go back to the age of the Roman Empire....Egypt...old Europe.

I’d like to go to all the important landmarks in natural history:
- The formation of the Solar System and Earth.
- When Earth started to cool.
- The start of life (just to know how it happened :D)
- The colonization of Earth by plants.
- The biggest climatic changes (that usually happened when the geologic eras changed).
- The crash of the India continent against Asia.
- The opening of Baikal Lake.
- The crash of the meteorite against earth when Dinosaurs died.
- I’d like to go to Mars in the past to see if it had water and / or life.
- The formation of Malta Island and the drying of the Mediterranean Sea.
- The moment of the connection of Mediterranean and Black Seas (thought to be The Flood - u know, Noah’s stories...).
- The glaciation periods, to see how Sahara was full of forests, and how Europe was full of ice, and how humans migrated from Africa to the rest of the world.
I don’t think I would like to visit a historic time, because there are many risks and inconveniences. For example, you don’t have money and in most cases you can’t communicate with anyone as you don’t know their languages (don’t forget that Egyptians just speak English in movies :DDDDD). Besides, most people was very hostile against foreigners, and very violent. You seriously risk to be killed.
Well, maybe that’s what I’d like because I’m an Earth Scientist :D

ancient civilizations: greek, egyptian, indian, chinese...where history has been lost thru time.
Also, the future, to see when it is precisely when we blow up ourselves and the earth!
