Thumbs up for The Daily Roxette

I just wanted to let you know that I do really appreciate the work that TDR-team is doing.
For me TDR is the number one source for Roxette-related news and the Off-topic section is a great forum, via which I met some good (internet)-friends.
Without TDR internet wouldn’t be so much fun.
Keep up the good work!!
tevensso (moderator) said on September 5, 2003 19:38:
Thank you. It means a lot to me/us to hear positive feedback.

Funny those new ads :D Some lead to interesting places :D
TDR is the best forum I’ve ever been in ;)
roxeteer (moderator) said on September 6, 2003 06:09:
Heh, yeah. They should be related to the content of the page. From those ads you can see what Google thinks these pages are about :-)
ally77 said on September 9, 2003 08:10:
Yeah the site is very quick and easy to use, some forums take ages to load up and it is sometimes a btt of a drag to be bothered to use them!!
harriej said on December 3, 2004 11:28:
I want to let you know that, although I have had some discussion with you in the past about the role of the moderators (http://www2.dailyroxette.com/smalltalk/thread.php/11833) and reasons for archiving (http://www2.dailyroxette.com/smalltalk/thread.php/10730) was a point of discussion, this website is absolutely the best when it comes to getting information on Roxette (and related).
Also the Off-topic section is great.
Keep up the good work (thumbs up).
on_a_mission said on December 5, 2004 19:38:
i’d also like to extend my thanks. The moderators give up their time and energy for this project through thick and thin sometimes. I am very grateful!
Best wishes, on_a_mission.

After recently trying to use another fansite’s forum, I realiezed how spoiled I was here.
TDR is quite possiblly the easiest, most accessable, most certainly the most user-frienldly forums for a fan to use. There’s not too much muss, not too much fuss. . .it’s an all ’round inviting places to delve into.
A million thanks.
ally77 said on February 28, 2005 14:54:
It’s good, and offers the latest news all the time! I suggest we make TDR the official fanclub! ((only joking)) before anyone flames me! LOL :)
tevensso (moderator) said on February 28, 2005 17:13:
@ LaMan: Freedom of speech DOES NOT apply to the Internet. TDR as a web newspaper decide what goes and not, plain and simple.
@The rest: thanx guys, for being here. We enjoy making TDR the best Rox site in the universe.
RoxHard said on February 28, 2005 17:55:
But doesn’t Visa do all the real work?
And it’s great how you just decide what to archive. Even when there’s no flaming, you mightn’t just like us discussing the bad aspects that you moderators bring to TDR.

LaMan said on February 28, 2005 18:14:
I think TDR should be moderator free! :D
How do you like my idea?!
tevensso (moderator) said on February 28, 2005 19:40:
What I think, and this is not said as a moderator, but as a normal user: I think that TDR should be asshole free. And it isn’t. The majority of TDR’s readers are completely happy with this site. I can count on my fingers who aren’t, and frankly - if you dislike it that much PLEASE LEAVE.
Edit: typo.
RoxHard said on February 28, 2005 22:05:
Yep... definately... it should be moderator free...
Then we wouldn’t have to read egotistical posts like the one above! lol
You see, what I heard when I read the above post was:
“we’re the moderators and we can do what we want and you can’t do anything about it and if you state that you don’t like what we’re doing - well that’s tough on you - you shouldn’t be able to express how you feel if it goes against what we LIKE doing, if you don’t like it - you shouldn’t be able to discuss it JUST LEAVE!!!.”
See where we’re coming from now?
WE CAN’T EVEN DISCUSS IT! YOU JUST ARCHIVE THE TOPIC... WHICH JUST AGGRIVATES US EVEN MORE!!!
sommartiderhejhej said on February 28, 2005 22:47:
@Roxhard: In the past you had some more or less good arguments to disagree with the moderators, but now it is only pissing them off what you do.
I don’t think they (the moderators) deserve this.
Without them The Daily Roxette would be a place full of flaming, and although some decisions made by the moderators can sometimes also lead to some flaming, I think you should have to know where to draw the line.
And I think you passed that line, so why don’t you cool down until you can think clearly again and apologize to the moderators.
Let’s go back to the original topic of this thread:
Thumbs up for The Daily Roxette.
Well, I can be short about that:
It is the most reliable source on Roxette-related news, so all thumbs go up for The Daily Roxette!!
@moderators: I hope you still enjoy to do your work here, even if you get a lot of flames now and then. I hope you understand that there are also a lot of TDR-readers who are very happy with this site.
At least I am!!
RoxHard said on March 1, 2005 02:35:
@ tevensso: “Why don’t you just leave, DICK?”
AND YET IF I WERE TO SAY THAT TO ANYONE ELSE - I’D BE FLAMED AND HAVE MY TOPIC ARCHIVED!!!!!
WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?! Why did you even bother replying to my post if that’s all you had to say? You simply couldn’t be arsed answering my question, could you? And, I would normally not type bad language here - but, seeing as how a moderator has used a swear word here - I don’t see any objection to using swear words here! And you’ve still failed to reply to my comment, you shitwipe! WHY CAN’T WE DISCUSS YOUR OBVIOUS UNFAIRNESS! HOW COME OUR COMPLAINT TOPICS ALWAYS SEEM TO BE ARCHIVED? LOOK AT THE FRONT PAGE OF THIS TDR DISCUSSIONS FORUM! HOW COME THE COMPLAINT TOPICS ARE ARCHIVED! WHY DO YOU INSIST IN SAYING “I guess we can close this now” WHENEVER WE’RE DONE? YOU DON’T DO THAT IN ANY OTHER FORUM OR TYPE OF TOPIC! IT’S SHEER LAZINESS! AND IF YOU DON’T WANT TO REPLY TO A TOPIC - DON’T OPEN IT! BUT LET OTHER PEOPLE DISCUSS IT! TDR ISN’T FOR THE MODERATORS, YOU KNOW!!!
@ sommartiderhejhej: I’m only saying what I’ve said in my previous post “to piss them off”? Oh, so just cause my OPINION has differed from your - you accuse me of just trying to “piss them off”? I don’t get this OPINION! You went on earlier about “hoe everyones opinions are valid”, yet you shrug off my OPINION as “pissing someone off” simply because it doesn’t match yours? That’s a bit STUPID, if you ask me...
“I don’t think they (the moderators) deserve this.
Without them The Daily Roxette would be a place full of flaming, and although some decisions made by the moderators can sometimes also lead to some flaming, I think you should have to know where to draw the line.”
Oh yes, the moderators sure help to keep the amount of flaming down. I’ve experienced more flaming here than I have at a bloody MARILYN MANSON FORUM! The moderators bring all this shite on themselves. Look at the forum on www.mansonusa.com. There are NO moderators on those boards, YET I HAVE EXPERIENCED NOT ONE FLAME IN ALL THE 3 MONTHS I’VE USED IT! And at 4um.bjork.com - yet again, there is no real moderator-presense, and it is one of the most friendly places I’ve ever been to. And then take TDR or www.alaniscouch.com, where both places have numerous moderators. They are among some of the most vulger places on the www. The whole moderator system just BREEDS flames!
And, if you look at the ’About Us’ page, you’d see that it is only VISA who made TDR. The others just sit on their arses all day and archive our topics! Tevennsso is NEWS EDITOR! HE SHOULDN’T EVEN BE IN THE FORUM! HIS JOB SHOULD BE TO SORT OUT THE FRONT PAGE - AND THAT’S IT!!!! WHY IS HE HERE?!
In fact, I’d like to place Visa a little bet. I suppose Visa is creating a new site? Well... I GUARANTEE him that if he didn’t place any moderators on the new forum for THE FIRST TWO WEEKS - the amount of flaming would be HALFED if not reduced ENTIRELY!
“And I think you passed that line, so why don’t you cool down until you can think clearly again and apologize to the moderators.”
Apologies for what? All of the above? They should be the ones apologising to us!!!

God... you’re all such HYPOCRITES!!!

if this site would be left without moderators its name should change to the daily flame, the daily jungle, the daily idiot, take what you please. It is actually a couple (and I am sure right now we are all thinking of the same nicknames) of people around here who must have such an insignificant loser life that have nothing else to do than come here, attack anybody that doesn’t agree with them, flame as they please, and then hope they will be treated as a king. If you want moderator free forums, then create one yourself and good luck with it. I really agree with Thomas, if you aren’t fine here, it is just that simple, don’t ever come back! (I thought one of you had gone already...)
We are moderators but we aren’t robots, we are people with feelings, and while we should try to separate the moderating job with the “normal posting” (which you know it’s rather impossible), one doesn’t have infinite patience.
The reason why topics are archived for the same reasons is that you won’t listen neither understand (willing or not). We have set “rules” from the beginning, when I joined as Editor/Mod they were already created and people knew them, no flaming, no insulting, no creating double/triple topics, including the news on front page.. is it THAT difficult to understand? do we have to explain that over and over again?
R2R.. yeah well, you must admit Purple that over there it isn’t always a nice flowerly pinky life. I have received complaints from people there too, and moderated accordingly.

Forgot to mention the no use of bad words, including modifications of them with * or # or whatever symbol you might use instead of a letter.

I ain’t read all this but one thing is for sure...
@ Roxhard... you don’t know TDR very well... what’s with the DISCUSS we don’t use the tags here on the forum! or perhaps it was a point to make it in bold....
Goes away for more coffee.....
ally77 said on March 1, 2005 09:36:
One more thing.... didn’t Roxhard leave a few weeks ago...... what the hell you still doing hanging around if you don’t like TDR!
miulatz said on March 1, 2005 15:07:
Why do so many people always get involved in these stupid fights?? As you may have noticed the moderators are quite capable of defending themselves without your help, and getting involved only leads to more flaming. So what’s the point? Just wondering..
pumpkins said on March 1, 2005 15:09:
I don’t disagree with the idea of having moderators on a site IF IT WORKS. I will let you all be the judge of whether it does or not.
Why can’t you all just let Roxhard have his say in this? Why can’t people say their opinion on things without provoking all this anger?
I hate all this childishness on this site and don’t bother telling me to go if I don’t like it because that response is also childish.
Roxhard, keep voicing your opinion. God knows you are entitled to do so.
I also visit other forums and I have to say that TDR is THE most insulting , angry and intolerant one of the ones I visit.
Jud (moderator) said on March 1, 2005 15:18:

I don’t think you will find any website that gets input from users without a moderator, without this becoming a battle field. And for the complaints we have got in the past, I would say it works, specially when you take into account that some of the complaints came from a person who created various user accounts and thought he wouldn’t be spotted.
We have contacted some people and explained them why this has been edited or archived, they have understood the game rules (which aren’t anything special, you might find more restrictive rules in other forums, just a little guide so this is a nice place) and have gone on fine with them, other’s keep on making a fool of themselves, for whatever reason ever.
Have you followed Roxhard’s “career”? It is people like him that make TDR a place full of flames, anger, insults.
Do you think it’s normal to insult anybody who’s not agreeing with you and then complain because your posts are edited/topics closed = moderated, or because people reply back to your insults? A person who comes here to insult and only flame and provoke, can’t then ask for his words to be overlooked and even play the victim (see topic started by him in this same forum, something to Visa) as if he would be the angel and everybody else devils.
We have taken critisism, and we will continue to do so, but if it’s well funded. We aren’t perfect and we make mistakes and we are glad when somebody points them out. We are also glad when you warn us about some “hot topic” that we have overseen - simply because we aren’t gods and can’t read it ALL. One can dialogue about everything, but what to do when somebody starts by insulting? How is that for an adult conversation? How can you take this person seriously?
See we have a suggestions topic as well, have you seen anybody start to insult everybody else, the work of the mods, etc (except for RoxHards hidden comments, that is)?

Hi Judith. You know how I’m running the HAND survivor poll, and that I am very keen to prevent cheating? Well, if you have any information that can help me ensure that the poll is fair then it would be great if you could tell me. My e-mail addy is in my profile. All the best, Rich ;-)
pumpkins said on March 1, 2005 16:35:
Judith,
Point taken.
I wish we could all feel free to voice our opinion without fear of being flamed by OTHER MEMBERS. Surely we could all be a little more tolerant? Of course we will disagree with the view of others from time to time but can this not be dealt with in a respectful manner?
ally77 said on March 2, 2005 08:33:
I gotta admit that I am known in the past to flame people because I like to voice my opinion, although I normally apolgise afterwards! ;) I swear it the scouse in me that does it!!! (I am no where near as bad as I once was)!! lol
But at the end of the day I love TDR and I have been a member for over 2 years now and I love it.
This place is an excellent source of information, and provide the upto date news on Roxette and the related stuff, hell if I did not have TDR or internet access I would not have known about Mazarin or the GT tour!
The mods only edit what they feel needs too, they do this in there spare time they don’t get paid for it and so ain’t watching everyone’s post 24 hours a day so if yours get closed deleted or moved then you just got unlucky!
TDR would not be TDR without the odd gray line showing up on the pages....
I say thumbs up to all at TDR for all the work they have done since this place has been online..... I know this has been said time and time again but I often feel people don’t listen if you don’t like the place your free to leave! Your not tied to a contract to be here...... I am sure there are other forums out there that suit your taste!
In the mean time can we please have all the slagigng off the moderators because you don’t agree with there posts etc... Let’s keep TDR the friendly place it is.....
People who keep having a go are really beginning to put off the others who enjoy visiting!

Maybe it’s a little late to say this, but here I go anyway.
I always liked the way these forums are moderated. I have to admit that sometimes the moderators are not very polite, but I they are persons just like the rest of us. They get mad too. If someone keeps insulting them it’s understandable they get mad.
I always agreed with the forums rules so I can’t complain about them.
Thumbs up for the TDR and it’s moderators (and why not, to their readers!)!!!
