Insomnia

Grr, don’t you just hate it when you can’t get to sleep? And this heat is making it even worst.
Just thought I’d share my ’grrr’ with everyone. Incidentally, does anyone have any good tips for getting to sleep at times like this?

Make yourself really tired by doing a lot of sports in the evening, after that listen to “Go to sleep (CBB-album) on repeat-mode” and read a boring book!
That should do the job.

I have it too. In fact, “n-Somnia” is gonna be my stage name when I get a new band started. I already use it on some music sites. You can all look it up on MP3.com and BeSonic.com if you wish to. :)

I sleep well on weeknights as I have to get up at 5 and go to work! Although I sleep at 1:30 and don’t get much sleep. I am not a good sleeper in general. I wake up so many times, toss and turn... very annoying.
Tonight I can’t go to sleep. I had a very busy Saturday and went to a Lantern Festival here in Vancouver. It is amazingly beautiful. So now at 3:44AM, I can’t go to bed! I know I have to wake up at 7:30 as I am going to Molson Indy. I hope I can get up then!

@kiwijazza: Cool Sounds! Have they officialy been released (as CD)? Do you plan to do a whole album?
I have often thought about creating my own music. But I would have to get a keyboard & all the other software etc.

God I hate being insomnia. I’ve been have this for years... I have been trying everything but it didn’t work...
now, it’s midnight here and I couldn’t sleep, so here I’m online again, hoping find something interesting on the net..
LittleSpooky said on August 16, 2003 03:06:
I have to be one of the most ass-backwards sleepers. I can sleep just fine during the day, and like to roam at night. But because my job doesn’t have a midnight to 8am or anything like that, I have to be up during the day. I thrive better when the sun goes down. How weird is that?
**I really should read stuff as I type it... (spell checks)**

wendy said on August 17, 2003 19:25:
Actually,i think insomnia is bull****
Instead of thinking “i can’t sleep i can’t sleep” think of something very beautifull :O
Santi said on August 17, 2003 19:50:
Doesn’t work. I’ve been insomniac since I was a little child, and nothing helps. Just following very strick rules about sleeping times and modes. You should ask your doctors.
LittleSpooky said on August 17, 2003 20:02:
Insomnia is a very real problem that many people face throughout the world. And to say that it is bull****, is very offensive to me.
I’ve been to numerous doctors, and have tried different sleep remedies, ranging from: Homeopathic herbs and teas, to prescribed medications. They all do ONE thing to me: I cannot get up and function the next day. It takes about 16 hours for the drug to wear out of my system, even at the LOWEST dosage. So, I just deal with it and my life is okay.
Derek: Ooooh... big boy ;o)
LittleSpooky said on August 18, 2003 02:42:
BonBon: Don’t pick on her.
Wendy: The trouble with a lot of “conditions” like insomnia, sleepwalking, and others is that a lot of folks share your opinion. You’re not wrong for that. But misunderstandings or plain ignorance isn’t helpful to those that suffer from something that is very real. I WISH that there was something for me to do that would let me sleep and function like a “normal” person.
But there isn’t. So, I do what I can. This is part of who I am, and it will be like that for the rest of my life. This isn’t something I grow out of. Maybe, as I grow older, I’ll finally start on a normal sleep cycle. You know... go to bed early like the old farts do ;o)
wendy said on August 18, 2003 14:08:
Hmmmmmmmmm.....My nephew is a sleepwalker :s he can do weird stuff sometimes
But,i don’t understand insomnia,i really don’t :s
I mean,if i say Santi he haves to go to bed (yeahyeah :DD ) he just tells me “i can’t sleep” :s That’s an all wrong attitude, isn’t it?? :O
derek said on August 18, 2003 17:19:
hey littlespooky.i surpose im a old fart he he but iv tried early and late to bed but nothing works i cant seem to switch of i dont think that i need a lot of sleep maybe 3or4 hrs knock-out dont know anything dont dream and then the rest of the night tossing and turning.
wendy if i think of some thing beautifull (hmm)i may never get to sleep
LittleSpooky said on August 19, 2003 04:53:
Wendy: Have you ever had a night where no matter what you did, you couldn’t fall asleep? Whether you were excited for an upcoming event in you life (say a trip that you’ve really wanted), or you felt dread about something? Those sleepless nights are a regular occurance for people with insomnia. It’s not like we have extra worries or anything like that, it’s just that we can’t fall asleep just as easily as others can.
Derek: Nah... that was just an off the cuff comment. My grandparents used to go to bed around 11pm and up at around 5 or 6. My grandmother had nights where she was just up, and so she read. That’s when I discovered that my insomnia wasn’t just a “phase” like I originally thought when fist diagnosed with it in the late 80s. It has been persistent throughout my life, and as I got older, I figured out that I am a nocturnal. A person who functions better at night.
Right now, it’s 2257 and I’m a little bit tired, had a hard day at work. But, I’ll be up at 0430 for work and pretty much ready to face the day. I’ve done the warm milk, and sometimes that helps. But it’s frickin EXPENSIVE. *chuckles* What about you? You function better at night or day?
derek said on August 19, 2003 18:51:
well let me see yes i function good in the day i have to when im playing around with paint and other s*** and i can function good in the night .but that all depends who im with *wink wink*and what im doing .but at times i dont want to go to bed because i know i cant sleep good but you get use to it over the yrs
