What is your problem?
We all know you don´t have sense of humor but closing threads all the time without any good reason is a bit ridiculous and childish.
For example this ” :D :D ” thread by TinyTubbles.
It was a big, big mistake by Tevensso to let you moderating.
Tevensso, do you have something to say?

Well it is not my thread but I think I should jump in. I am a moderator too (not on TDR though). I KNOW how it is like to be a moderator. You have a LOT of responsibility on your shoulder and trust me Storm it is a NO-THANK job.
I have had a HARD TIME moderating some forums and I swear it sucks when you KNOW that you are following a rule and still you just get blamed for a lot of things and doing your JOB.
Moderators are of course not perfect. They can also make a mistake or two. I just protested in the OFFTOPIC section against the archiving of the forum ” :D :D :D :D :D...”. I protested in a pretty bold way (read subject: ARCHIVE THIS TOO I DARE YOU”
Yes, that sounds a bit hard and acted like a typical forum member. But I did it to MAKE SOME NOISE.. to let people know that I am a bit (actually a lot) disappointed. I saw NO REASON for that thread to be archvied within 24 hours. Being a moderator and having some experience in this thing helped me undetstand the real reason behind the archiving which was simple... THE MODERATOR THOUGHT IT IS A STUPID THREAD and Archived it. I think THAT was a mistake so it was time for me to protest. I don’t like to go after LARS, VISA, JUDITH and others. NO, NO WAY!, they are doing their jobs. TRUST me I KNOW what it is like so I am not gona type any crap about them but there ARE certain ways that as a common user I CAN make them feel that I am protesting and I am annoyed.
Judith is a sweett girl and she is new to the job. I have no hard feelings for her at all. She even accepted it in a way that she made a mistake so that makes me respect her even more. It is not that everyone has the kind of courage to admit their mistakes. I don’t know if she is gona unarchive it but now she knows that she (or other moderators) should take time before archiving something which is not flaming, looks stupid and is not even 24 hours old (although I believe they possess the right to do ANYTHING they have the right to Edit everything and anything and delete anyone from TDR without prior notice) so we should be thankful for them to actually SPENDING A LOT OF TIME on board and to see that things go well and everyone enjoys his/her time on TDR.
Cheers,
Zeeshan

I bet that the moderator did not close it because it was a stupid thread...
it was SPAM
dunno how to define spam in this forum.
but in general it is the opening of meaningless topics, with characters that make no sense, or words that make no sense. Or the continuous posting of the same message.
It’s an old online “rule”... older than TDR
Ferdan said on July 15, 2003 18:14:
although currently SPAM is also unwanted email, advertising, and chains,. etc.

Ferdan: Ask Judith. She closed the thread because she “thought” it was stupid. Like I said atleast I have no problem whatsoever to see stupid threads to be archived but hey ya need to give more time to see if the thread IS turning stupid or something else. Please try to understand the point here.

jepp. thought it was stupid, meaning a waste of time and space, no reason to keep it there. And the part II is going in the same direction ;)
Ferdan said on July 16, 2003 12:00:
but that’s pointless, z
if someone wants an interesting thread, make a good argument to begin a discussion...
and not just a meaningless group of characters
that “could” lead to an interesting or not chat....or to a spam-fest aswell
i still see it stupid and a waste of bandwith.

Thomas (username “tevensso”) is not the one who decides who’s a moderator and who’s not. I’m the one who makes those kind of decisions in the last place.
It’s very hard to be a good moderator, especially when the number of messages posted each day is as big as it is in SmallTalk. Unfortunately it may sometimes seem that our moderators are biased or unfair, but that’s not true. We are not always able to check every thread and message, but when we find a discussion that is not in its right place, we will hide or close that discussion. This is not about freedom of speech, this is about keeping this forum in the topic - except the off-topic section. (We will moderate off-topic section, too, however.)
