NEW ARTISTS....

OK, here’s a question...what NEW artists are you guys following or did you discover?? What I mean by new are artists and bands that are either under the radar, just got signed, are local, or basically undiscovered by the general public???

I’m really curious about non-US people on this board...

My 2 picks:
BLEU (no not crap UK boyband Blue!! Boston powerpop genius Bleu, he falls somewhere between Jellyfish, Todd Rundgren + Fountains Of Wayne, new album “Redhead” out now on Aware/Columbia)

And NYC band THE EVERYOTHERS (good friends of mine, self-released 5 EPs, just got signed, sound like Cheap Trick meets early Bowie or even Adam Ant in Owen’s vocals, brilliant band!!)....

“V”

I know this sounds funny but Dannii Minogue... and Linkin Park

Well, they’re not so new, but i´m lbegining to listen to Within Temptation.... (you also should listen to some songs of “The Gathering”(dutch band too)

LaMan, they are not new. Dannii’s been recording for years, and Linkin Park are HUGE, on their 3rd recording!!

That’s NOT what I meant by new...

And Zee, who is this “V” I’ve been hearing about here??

V ;)
and,yeah,also “Within temptation” they’re really good :)

You, too, like V, huh Wendy?? Who the f*** is V???? I’m curious, and who is “Within Temptation”??

Another new fave is KENNA!! His music is sorta like Beck meets Radiohead, The Cure and The Neptunes...brilliant stuff. Pick up his much-delayed debut CD “New Sacred Cow”, out now on Columbia/Sony!!!

http://www.gathering.nl/ (the first record is with a male singer groaning.... so skip it, listen from their 3rd record, wich a lovely sounding girl sings, Anneke Van Giersbergen)

Da Buzz and Dave Gahan as solo artist
Larry did you hear Lisa Marie Presley´s album? Some people were surprised how good it is. (?) I haven´t heard any of her songs yet.

Storm

Storm, I THINK I’ve heard of Da Buzz, and Dave Gahan as a solo artist does not count, as he is from Depeche Mode and his style is totally well-known and distinctive.

And yes, I have heard Lisa Marie Presley’s CD, I owned it at one point, but I needed money so I sold it. It is VERY good, like Amanda Marshall meets Alanis meets Lucinda Williams, and a drop of Sheryl Crow...much darker than typical mainstream stuff, and she holds nothing back either...

I’ll be re-buying it eventually, if I see the Japanese version, I’ll be buying that, as it has at least 1 bonus track...

my buddas!! :)

Buddaboys.com - I think sb from this forum will agree with me :D

- Within temptation
- Tatu
- Milk Inc.

tATu doesn’t count cuz they are HUGE now...the others do though...

T.A.T.U ????? I have heard the name but not any songs ....Read in aftonbladet i think ....
A new teenage band like bsb?? Will they last???
Huge??? Are they hot in sweden ????
Not in the Usa anyhow ....What kind of music do they do?

V is quite nice, yeah :)

When Napster was alive, instead of downloading mainstream bands albums I used my time in it discovering music from strange places. These are my favourites:

Bluvertigo (Ita), Eva Braun (Yug), Kent (Swe), The September When (Nor), Garmarna (Swe), Dino Merlin (Bosnia), De Mens (Bel), Kasia Kowalska (Pol), Irina Florin (Bul), Kiora (Bul), Vama Veche (Rom), Skitamorall (Ice), Ismo Alanko (Fin), Rio Reiser (Ger), Noa (Isr), Subsonica (Ita), Mylene Farmer (Fra), Duncan Dhu (Esp), Doe Maar (Ned), Within Temptation (Ned), Pudhys (Ger), Elisa (Ita), Clouseau (Bel), Sau (Cat), Tri Sestry (Cze), Diafana Krina (Gre), Prata Vetra (Lat)...

Do you want more? :D

Take a look at

http://myownmusic.de

It’s a community of hobby-musicians. My favourite so far is an Artist called “Eigentlich” with Songs like “Meer”, “Hör Dir selber zu”, “Ganz um die Welt” or “Gehn wir!”.

By the way, you can also find my sister and me as “Melancholodic” there :-) with some songs and a link to our Website, but it’s light-years away from the other artist there, where lots of them really sound very professional.
