I have a friend who thought like Spooky does and I used to tell her :” How can you make comments like this if you NEVER read one book?? Read first and then take your conclusions” . And then I lent her the first one and she Loved it!

They are all american people ??? what have they got to do with anything lol harry potter is british book not american for a start. ( for once something not american :-P ) !!, its the biggest & BEST family book in england since roald dahl books which are also fantastic. :-) thats why they is so much hype around then.
Everyone who has read them LOVES them so much, well done for writing such excellent books in my opinion mrs J K ( ps she is such a down to earth person ) ;-D no one is making you read them with commercals and ads are they

Well Spooks, the Harry Potter books are different, they are well-written, and the movies are great!!! Oh and they are English, not American, which is a BIG plus!!! On a sidenote, at my brother’s English wedding, the rabbi was Scottish, and when he spoke, he sounded just like Hagrid!! LOL!! I’m like, WTF?? ;-P
I’ll probably buy the set of all 5 books, OR I might just wait for the movies of 3, 4 + 5.
