The Pop Hits

hey everyone!

Here in Canada, I cannot find the double disc of TPH anywhere! I can only buy it as an import which is at least 50$ CDN with shipping. Now, I absolutely adore Per and Marie and I do want those bonus tracks but I refuse to spend that kind of money on a cd that I already have most of the tracks. The Ballad Hits were only sold with the second cd here. Anyone else having a hard time finding the bonus cd?

My question is: Does anyone know who is responsible for not shipping the double cd to Canada? Is it EMI Sweden, EMI Canada, Roxette or some sort of combination? I need to send someone a letter.

EMI wants us to not download Roxette songs for free but then they make it so hard not to. 50$ is insane for 7 songs!!!......perhaps if all the tracks were new I could somehow justify that amount

if anyone can help, thanks in advance :)

No idea. It’s probably EMI’s way of screwing Canadian Roxette fans by forcing them to pay a fortune for the double-disc album through imports and expensive online buying. That explains why they didn’t include the EP on the Canadian pressing itself. They gotta find some way to pay for their sh*tty copy protection! ;)

Buy from CDwow... they ship worldwide, shipping free. TPH is £8.99 all in, they only do the 2 CD set. I ordered mine monday, it arrived from hong kong yesterday. :)
They take most sorts of payment also. :)

Hmm, just looked on the list, seems canada is the only place not listed?? What is up with that?! Could e-mail them and ask?

I ordered mine (which is an import and includes the bonus CD) through Amazon.com - was about $24 U.S. - the Canadian dollar is quite strong against the US dollar now, so the exchange is not too much.

It’s definitely EMI Canada’s fault that we didn’t get the EP... God only knows why, they would have sold more copies even to Roxette fans!

I would (as always!) recommend ordering “The Pop Hits” from Skivhugget (http://www.skivhugget.com) ...their price is $18.33 US, BUT as a Canadian customer, you would get 20% off that (VAT exemption) price, which is usually about what postage costs. So, in the end, the cost would be $18 US or so, including postage, which isn’t bad at all.

I hate to say this but go on and download... :((
You shouldn´t pay a fortune for import cd...
If EMI wants to cash old songs again and again then downloading is their problem.
It´s possible I´m going to delete my message tomorrow... hehe if I change my mind.
Usually I´m against downloading Roxette.

Well, I think it’s a good idea to contact a record store in the area where you live in case your local EMI division is not really interested in releasing Roxette records. EMI Hungary, for example, imported only 18 (!) copies of the Roxette DVD - which, obviously, were sold on the day of the release, don’t know who bought them, as none of the fans I know could see any of them in stores. This nice little company then decidede not to release TBH with the bonus EP. Obviously we cannot even dream of them importing Marie & Per solo materials.

So one record store here decided to contact EMI Sweden directly, rather then messing with EMI Quint (that’s the name of the Hungarian branch of EMI). They can import all EMI Sweden releases (that are not offprint) Roxette & Related. The good thing is that since they buy in bulk, they probably get a discount from EMI Sweden, so the consumer price of the items they import are just like of all other local releases. (Sometimes the releases they import are pretty cheap, like the DVD or Marie’s DVD.) They are now getting us Mazarin with the DVD and the single - for a very reasonable price, absolutely not more expensivce than other CDs. Thanks to them, fans here can get access to items EMI Quint would never release.

So, in case your local EMI sucks, try to contact a record store that’s willing to import from EMI Sweden. If more people ask them, the final price would be a lot cheaper than if you bought it from a Swedish store, like skivhugget.

you can always try ebay! http://www.ebay.com search for ’roxette’ good luck!
take it easy oam

thanks everyone!

Try http://www.cduniverse.com, that’s where I got mine. It was $20.05 plus $4.99 shipping and handling. With the strong Canadian dollar right now that’s only about $34. Not cheap, but not $50.
