VW and Jonas

Have you guys seen the new VW Golf ad?
Featuring a guy and girl making out on a couch, girl wants to go down on guy, gets upset when she unbuttons his jeans, guy gets upset, gets in his golf, speeds off races through town, goes back to the apartment, girl is still on the couch, guy looks down at his crotch, looks up at girl, she smiles, and it ends.
Apparently it was directed by Mr Akerlund himself... shine some light...
Cheers

My dad bought the 50th Anniversary Jetta, VR6 GLI all sorta things it looks incredibly astounding, a piece of art. I’ve seen the Golf ad but gotta see it with my own two eyes.
Vixzter said on May 22, 2003 05:42:
I see nothing wrong with the steering wheel being on the right hand side.....that would be correct in my opinion ;P
Aschrum said on May 22, 2003 10:05:
i have never before seen a vw with the steering wheel on the wrong side...
btw: i luv the corrado ^^

TinyBubbles said on May 22, 2003 12:17:
The steering wheel is not on the wrong side. It’s on the ’right’ side. :-)
Aschrum said on May 22, 2003 12:20:
aha... in how many countries are the wheels on the right (wrong) side? 3? 5? in nearly all countries on the left (right) side :P
PiterPam said on May 22, 2003 14:27:

And the Golf A5 is a really fine car :)

Aschrum said on May 22, 2003 14:55:
eh..
1. i’ve said that already
2. the name is Golf 4/5 not A4/5; A4 is an AUDI

Vixzter said on May 22, 2003 17:19:

Aschrum said on May 22, 2003 18:58:
oh sry i thought u wuld have replied to my last entry...
ehm... sure they want to, but still vw is a german producer, not an american
PiterPam said on May 23, 2003 18:01:
oh sry ashrum, if misunderstood this, youre right ;)
But the right name of the Golf is A4. the new golf will be the A5 and so on...
the polo named 6n and so...

do u know if there will be a follower of the sciroccos/corrado? and a worthily follower of the first golf GTI?
powerpoplarry said on May 25, 2003 18:37:
Hey, VW is cool!! My friend Kenny, who is soon to be a TDR member (welcome him, OK??), he just bought a new 2003 VW Passat 1.8T, and it kicks ASS!!
Damineh, yep, the Jetta is cool too. The Golf is OK, the new Beetle is cute, espesh the new convertible, but will the Schirocco/Corrado will be brought back here?? As for the Bora, which US car is that?? The Passat by chance?? That car is SWEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTT, awesome pickup!!!! Awesome soundsystem too!!
Just played the commercial and on RealPlayer, it gets cut off in the middle!!!!!
Aschrum said on May 25, 2003 21:23:
eeeeeehm... the passat isnt a pickup
the bora is called jetta in the .... states of america
xarrrr said on May 25, 2003 21:38:
@aschrum: yeh its called a jetta in south africa too... but a bora in the UK. silly. i loved the old jettas in SA... specially Nuno’s hehhe
DaminehGessle said on May 26, 2003 01:50:
Larry: It’s not just a regular Jetta though. It’s a VR6 GLI 50th anniversary. It kicks any car’s arse.
powerpoplarry said on May 26, 2003 04:08:
Ash, what I meant by pickup was the horsepower in his turbocharged engine, it’s pickup, sorry, American terminology I guess..no the Passat is not a truck, it’s a lovely car. A bit like an Audi, which is made by the same company as VWs and Porsches, same engine as in the A4.
And Ash, here’s the rundown on the countries and which side the wheel is on: mainland Europe, North America, Central + South America, mainland Asia, all on the LEFT side, drive on the right side of the road. In the UK, Australasia, Africa, Japan, Hong Kong, China (I think): all on the RIGHT side, drive on the left side of the road.
Sooo the Bora is the Jetta?? I like the name Bora more than Jetta, more exotic and European...shoulda kept it the same here. Jettas are great too, all are solid cars!! LOVE the sound when you slam the doors shut, so solid, LOL!!
Damineh, a VR6 GLI 50th Anniversary???? Never saw any here in New York. I wonder if it’s a Canada-only model?? What colour is it, black?? I’m sure it is sweeeeeet.... ;-)
Aschrum said on May 26, 2003 11:59:
“VR6 GLI 50th Anniversary”
lolz
y cant they use the same names as in germany? ^^
powerpoplarry:
the notchback version of the first and second golf was called jetta (2).
the notchback version of the golf 3 is called vento.
the notchback version of the golf 4 is called bora (plus a wagon version of the bora, so it became a little “higher” than the golf)
DaminehGessle said on May 26, 2003 17:14:
It’s silver. Awesome car. Pedals are different. Inside is sooooo cool. Yum Yum! I don’t drive manual though lol.
DaminehGessle said on May 26, 2003 17:16:
Aschrum because the 50th anniversary Jetta is way more powerful than the Jettas out there and more luxurious and you pay a much higher price for it. That’s why it’s not called anything else! There were also a limited amount of them produced.
powerpoplarry said on May 27, 2003 02:49:
Hey Ash, thanxx for clearing up this confusion and the VW models!! I remember back in the 80s when Jettas were first produced, the Golf was called the RABBIT in the US, and the first Jettas were like Rabbits with trunks. By notchback, you mean hatchback??
Here, the Jettas always had trunks, the Golfs were always hatchbacks. VW changed its name from the Rabbit to the Golf in the 90s. Yes, they recently came out with a wagon version of the Jetta, along with one of the Passat. The Jetta wagon looks like a small tiny Jeep, LOL!!
Yes Damineh, silver??? SWEEEEEETTTT!!! I’m sure it looks superb, lovely trim and everything, cooler wheelcovers, sunroof, leather interior, all the options, am I right?? Yes, about the pedals, when you drive a stick, there are 3 pedals: the gas, the brake and the clutch. I’ve never driven a stick either, but I really want to learn and get good at it; I hear it’s like riding a bike, once you get the hang of it, you’re good for life, and most people who know how to drive a stick never go back to an automatic. These people love being in control.
Limited edition?? No wonder I’ve never seen one of those models on the road!! ;-)
Aschrum said on May 27, 2003 14:58:
notchback = jetta
hatchback = golf (NOT the wagen-version)
up from the beginning (middle 70th) the golf was called “golf” and not “rabbit”
[EDIT] here in germany where its home is... ;)
powerpoplarry said on June 3, 2003 18:06:
Ash, what is a notchback, as opposed to a hatchback?? And yes, I know VW is out of Germany. As is Porsche, Audi, Mercedes Benz and BMW aka Bavarian Motor Works...
Aschrum said on June 3, 2003 21:50:
Bayrische Motorenwerke (BMW)
ya kinda... as like every limousine of mercedes-benz or so... or as like rolls-royce or bentley... they are all notchbacks
every normal (not wagon) golf is a hatchback
i.e. there is a notchback version of the astra too, but not with another name.
so the normal version (hatchback) is called fünftürer (fivedoors or so) and the notchback is called viertürer (fourdoors or so).
powerpoplarry said on June 5, 2003 03:51:
Thanxx Ash for clearing up BMW’s name, LOL!! Um, so you mean a notchback is the same thing as having a trunk?? OOOKAY, interesting. Sooo, my friend’s VW Passat 1.8T is a notchback??
What is the Astra?? The same as the Passat but in Germany??
And Sweetstalker, are you talking to me about driving a stick?? ;-P
Aschrum said on June 5, 2003 11:42:
astra is the car of opel in the golf-class
trunk is the space that every car has that u can use for ur shopping stuff or bags or so right?
ehm anyway the “normal” passat (NOT waggon) is a notchback
powerpoplarry said on June 5, 2003 16:49:
OK Ash, the Astra is an Opel. I know Opel, but believe it or not, Opels are not sold in the US!!! I know they are Europe GM, and an older US Cadillac model, the Catera, was based on an Opel, not sure which one.
Yes, the trunk is the space in every car to put your bags, luggage, shopping stuff, yes, and in many cars, the rear seat folds down to increase this space. Yes, based on your + my info, the regular 4-door VW Passat is a notchback. WOW, I’m going to call those cars notchbacks from now on, thanks!! It will freak people out here, hehe!!
Shane said on June 5, 2003 18:21:
@powerpoplarry - I was thinking the same thing - I like the term notchback. Hmmm - “let me get my golf clubs from the notchback” - I like it!
powerpoplarry said on June 5, 2003 18:43:
Hey Shane, sweet seeing you on this board too!! ;-) Two questions for you now, do you play golf, and do you drive a VW?? ;-)
Aschrum said on June 5, 2003 20:36:
wuaha nice word-play *lolz*
again: a golf is not a notchback if i understood that reply of shane correctly.
no problem powerpoplarry ;)
Shane said on June 5, 2003 21:01:
Hi Larry - I love to golf, but rarely get time to go, so I am not very good. No - I do not drive a VW now but am looking to buy a new car and have visited the VW dealership a couple of times - love the look and feel of them!
@Ashcrum - no, sorry - I was referring to the game of golf when I said golf clubs.
ugghhh - back to work :-(
sweet_stalker57 said on June 6, 2003 02:40:
woah, Larry no! I was talking to the super hot Damineh. ;)
powerpoplarry said on June 6, 2003 03:43:
Hey Ash, um yes, golf is a sport big in the US, as well as many parts of the world, surprised you never heard of it!! I see how you would think it was a bit of flirting, LOL!! ;-)
Shane, you love to golf?? Cool, I’ve never really done the real thing, just mini-golf, LOL!! My brother is big into it, and I would like to try it myself. I guess we are both on the same level then eh?? ;-P Cool you might buy one, the Passat just rules!! ;-) Plus I trust the VW dealers, really honest people.
And SweetStalker, oops, sorry, you’re a guy right, I thought you may have been female, my bad!! And yep, Damineh is pretty cute I would say.
Aschrum said on June 6, 2003 12:13:
sure i know the sport golf and that is y i wrote “if i understood that reply of shane correctly” ;)
yup it is pretty good that people in north america buy vw :)
i mean... here is no car sold better than the golf naturally but not in the states/canada right?
powerpoplarry said on June 7, 2003 08:26:
Actually, here in the US, the Jetta and Passat are much more popular and bigger sellers than the Golf.
Aschrum said on June 10, 2003 13:34:
but now they will release the phaeton and the touareg in the states which are out since month in germany ^^
is the touran already released in the states? -_-
asch
powerpoplarry said on June 10, 2003 18:34:
Yes I know about the Phaeton, which I think will see the light in the US in 2004. Isn’t it a flagship, Rolls Royce V12 type of car?? That’s what I heard. As for the Touran, is that like a van/SUV type of vehicle?? It hasn’t come here yet.
So Ash, where in Germany are you from?? Don’t laugh, but I am a fan of Sandra + Michael Cretu, also your best girlband, Lemonbabies. As for your Eurovision contestant, Lou, isn’t she a shemale/transvestite?? She looks scary!!!!
Aschrum said on June 10, 2003 18:57:
the phaeton is the class of the bmw 7er, mercedes-benz s-klasse, audi a8...
the touran is a van
the touareg a suv
i live in the north of germany
who are the lemonbabies and who are Sandra + Michael Cretu??
sry, but i am not interessted in the grand prix de la blablubb so donno if she is a shemale.
and it is “asch” or “aschi” or “aschrum” but not “ash”
powerpoplarry said on June 10, 2003 19:17:
Yeppers, Asch (sorry if I called you Ash), that’s what I thought what the Phaeton is, probably in the $60K to $70K range, in that class of Beemers and Benzes and Audis. And ’bout time VW had an SUV + better van available!!
What town/city in the north of Germany are you from?? I’ll look it up on a map. Sandra and Michael Cretu?? Never heard of Sandra or Enigma??? That’s them!! Lemonbabies are a great girlband from Germany, they never got that big, and are still together after 5 albums I think. They are signed to Four Music/Columbia/Sony Germany.
As for Lou, I heard she was a shemale, trannie, that’s all, and she is scary-looking, that’s all. Peace + cheers man!!
Aschrum said on June 10, 2003 19:36:
what does “’bout” mean? “about”?
what did u mean with that phrase?
osterholz-scharmbeck, in the north of bremen
lou had a facelift for the contest i guess... but anyway she is fucking old
powerpoplarry said on June 11, 2003 04:31:
Hey Asch!! Yep, ’bout means about,a nd what I meant by that phrase was FINALLY.
Ah, are you near the border of Denmark?? As for Lou, yep, she looks like she had a facelift, and I’m not at all surprised she is really old, like 50-ish??
Aschrum said on June 11, 2003 16:14:

there were 3 or 4 polo 2 (w/o facelift again) that looked AMAZING :D

However, I do know they are bringing over the Phaeton, Toureg and Touran, that’ll be cool when it happens.
And, did VW replace, or are they replacing, the Schirocco??? A new version or a new sports car altogether?? Is the Lupo the replacement car?? It looked like a sports car, the one I saw in London...
