i don’t wanna be so exited but the last time i listened a band and feel this was in 1989... I can believe this band is real!!!
If anyone know how to download the whole album “living in america” please tell me.
well done guys, and per and shooting star too... shooting star seems to be a good producer...

Well, I saw their CD in Tower Records today, for $9.99. They looked interesting, and were compared to Blondie + Missing Persons. THEN I read about The Sounds in the new issue of Rolling Stone, which said they were from southern Sweden, 2 1/2 miles from the Danish border. Sooo this made their CD move to the top of my next-new-band-to-buy-without-hearing-their-CD-first list, hahaha!!

NOW, you’re saying Per + Shooting Star are involved with the production too?? If so, DANG, I might pick it up next place I see it!! Something in the water over in Sweden, plus the lead singer is pretty dang cute!!

Per is only involved being the owner of Tom Bone, but still. :)

Hey, well, after seeing the buzz on the Sounds for a short while, and reading their feature in the new Rolling Stone, I shelled out the 10 bucks to buy the Sounds’ debut US release “Living In America”. Is it their actual debut album or do they have other earlier titles in Sweden??

Anyhoo, Emilio IS on the money here, wow!! The Sounds are f***ing GREAT!! Killer, catchy, new-wavey powerpop tunes, and a blonde female singer who sounds like a cross between Debbie Harry + Cerys Matthews (from Catatonia), but without most of the raspiness. The US version of the album is cool though cuz it comes with a bonus B-side, 3 music videos on CD-ROM, a remix by Poprox, wal;lpaper + screensavers!!

@emilio: I think it’s possible to download the album in Kazaa. Try.

@ Larry - Yes, this is the actual debut. See the link I enclosed earlier.

They sound like early Kim Wilde 81-82.

Cool, thanxx Tevensso!! How many tracks are on the Swedish version?? If it’s identical, and/or the US version has a bonus B-side, I don’t have to worry about finding the import for any missing tunes. Early Kim Wilde?? Hmmm, perhaps. I do hear mostly vocal similarities to Cerys, but musically?? Sure, Kim’s “Kids In America” era is a feasible comparison, but there are others too.

How well did their (3??) singles do in Sweden?? And the album, how high did it go?? I do know that Dave Grohl is a huge fan, as is James Iha formerly of Smashing Pumpkins; he signed the band in the US to his Scratchie label, just as he did with genius powerpoppers Fountains Of Wayne...LOVE the album artwork too, the cover being the band on the back of a leather jacket, and the CD “booklet” unfolding into a cool poster!!

There are 11 tracks:

01: Seven Days A Week

02: Dance With Me

03: Living In America

04: Mine For Life

05: Reggie

06: Like A Lady

07: Hit Me!

08: Rock N Roll

09: Fire

10: Hope Your’re Happy Now

11: Riot

I’ve read on their german homepage that there is a song called “breathe” on their single. Is this Roxette’s “breathe”???

I’ve got the entire album, if anyone wants the songs just gimme a shout and I’ll put my server back up.

They are great.
I wanted to see them live in Cologne last Tuesday but the concert was cancelled because the singer was sick...

Storm, thanks, but I also saw the tracklisting on their website. The US version has 1 bonus track (12 tunes total), the song being the B-side “S.O.U.N.D.S.”, and on the enhanced portion, there is a remix of “Rock N Roll” by Poprox, which is awesome!! 3 videos are also included: “Seven Days A Week”, “Living In America” + “Hit Me!” AWESOME, I am seeing them play live in NYC on June 2nd at the Bowery Ballroom, damn I’m excited!! Oh, the whole album is great, all the songs could be singles, not one weak song and all of em are ultracatchy!!

Hmmm...sounds interesting. I’ll have to check this out.

Hey!

They just kick asses!!..Maja Ivarsson sings better than any other girl in her 20´s...the catchy tunes and power pop riffs is what the music scene was waiting for...and i was looking for...

personally...i´ve downloaded the entire album from e-mule...i´ve listened to it...and an hour after..i was trying to get the american version of the lp...(for xtra stuff)...and some singles from ginza or something like that..now i´m looking forward to have their cool videos in vcd or svcd...i only found living in america...wow...that´s a fucking great video!!!

I’ve got a video of The Sounds performing live on Craig Kilborn if you want it.

I ´ve listened at least 3 singles of The Sounds , and a b-side; T.H.E. S.O.U.N.D.S. I like her, Maja´s voice is necessary in that style of music. I saw a concert in live, she sangs really bad, like in the album...but I like her anyway, she is so funny in live, she is like a new style, maybe a bad voice could be a success...

Yep Irvye...

i´ll open to u an ftp account to upload the video...and u can download great rox related stuff...

// if u have more “The Sounds” videos..contact Tito....hehehe

i´m just sendin´an email to u!!

see ya
