Has Roxette ever recorded their songs in Swedish?

With Per’s new album coming out, I was wondering if Roxette has ever recorded or sung (live) their songs (Roxette songs) in Swedish?
Which brings me to my next question, what would people think of a Roxette album in Swedish???!!!!!!
purplemedusa said on May 6, 2003 07:31:
Yes, the tribute to Rolf N. titled ’He’s got the Look’ got some Swedish vocals on it... although not entirely...
LittleGirl78 said on May 6, 2003 07:35:
But on Pers Soloalbum DEMO is the song “So Far Away” in swedish. But that is not really Roxette.
alchemiste said on May 6, 2003 08:43:
LittleGirl is right...
The demo version of “So Far Away” is in Swedish (“Som I En Dröm”).
Also, most of the “Pearls Of Passion” album was planned to be another Per Gessle album in Swedish, the texts were re-written in English. I guess some demos have been recorded with swedish vocals at that time.
Ferdan said on May 6, 2003 09:08:
medusa is right, they recorded that song in swedish.
But roxette won’t record an album in swedish.... unless in sweden a new current of foreign haters grow and ban the english language..... But Bush winning a Nobel of Peace prize is more likely to happen :)
tevensso (moderator) said on May 6, 2003 09:29:
Both those examples do not apply to “Roxette” since “Som i en dröm” was a Gessle-song at the time, and “He’s Got the Look” was only performed at Roffe’s birthday party and the whole party was taped and later put on vinyl for the guests. So no, Roxette has never recorded any of their songs in Swedish, and never will.
purplemedusa said on May 6, 2003 10:05:
Trevenso... why so agressive?
Yes, there are no Swedish studio recordings by Roxette... the question was whether they recorded (including informal recordings) anything in Swedish.... “He’s got the look” was recorded thus making it a valid entry
tevensso (moderator) said on May 6, 2003 11:36:
Why is telling a fact “being aggressive”? Since when do I always have to fill my post with stupid smileys to make my points come through? :) :) :) :)
Ferdan said on May 6, 2003 16:27:
you are contradicting yourself tevensso...
if they got into studio or a room with mics, a guitar, a song, swedish lyrics, and a recorder.
They proceded to press the “rec” button ;)
played a song, leave it registered on tape/digital signal.
Put it in a record to roffe, and in the tracklist putting Roxette -he’s got the look.
Isn’t that exactly recording a song in name of Roxette?
Ferdan said on May 6, 2003 16:30:
And this was antz’s question:
“I was wondering if Roxette has ever recorded or sung (live) their songs (Roxette songs) in Swedish?”
tevensso (moderator) said on May 6, 2003 16:32:
No, they didn’t so that’s still not counting. Why are we even discussing such a stupid thing, again?
Ferdan said on May 6, 2003 16:39:
admit it.
“i made a mistake”
is all you have to say....
They recorded it, that’s the fact.... that it wasn’tmeant to be released “officially” is another subject.... and it also can be applied to “sung (live)”
tevensso (moderator) said on May 6, 2003 16:40:
“Yes I’m sorry, all Roxette songs are more or less in Swedish...”
Jackie_Radiorox said on May 6, 2003 16:45:
*grabs a 357Mag and blows her brains out* Ahhh... I feel MUCH better now. :P
Ferdan said on May 6, 2003 16:45:
oh tev, you remind me of a guy that was allways “nervous” when he had to reply at any message. All his replies sounded harsh, even if he didn’t mean to.
Take a deep breath before replying any message next time... I like you, but you don’t seem the same polite guy of a few months ago.
tevensso (moderator) said on May 6, 2003 16:47:
No I am polite, it’s just that when I reply to something most people seem to want to hack on my replies, whatever I say, that’s sort of un-nerving in the long run. So it’s gonna end up with me not replying anymore...
Jackie_Radiorox said on May 6, 2003 19:06:
Tee - Less stressful that way. Less reasons to beat your head reapetedly on the desk.
Ferdan said on May 6, 2003 19:46:
tev, i don’t think that “most people” have anything against you.... but there’s something about your replies lately...
remember markuz saying you sounded bitter?
I bet you don’t mean to sound harsh nor bitter nor anything like that, but there’s something...
maybe you don’t realise, but that’s why i told you to take a pause and a breath before replying.
antz said on May 6, 2003 22:55:
Geez....sorry I asked!
Oh well...I’m looking forward to hearing the song with Marie on Pers new album (even if its not a Roxette song), it will be interesting to hear them sing in Swedish.

There is. Vandrar i ett sommarregn (Live Casablanca 1983) - wmv, 23.5 MB.
Gyllene Tider with Marie on backing vocals, in swedish.
Marie sung in every Per solo album, including the ones in swedish.... so you have the chance to hear them there too. She also did backing vocals in some songs in GT in swedish. (Ingenting Av Vad Du Behöver is the first “official” song where they’re singing together, and in swedish)

go tevenss, i suport your opinion, you’re rigth not angressive, je je : )
AntiMario said on May 7, 2003 17:27:
How old are you, Ferdan and what is your number here on TDR. Huh? Oh, and yea, since which year you’re listening to Rox? talkin’ just about comparing 3 (three) digits with tevensso.
P.S. “agressive AntiMario”, LOL :)
mariok said on May 11, 2003 06:27:
Worst idea i’ve ever heard... Roxette and Swedish? They should concentrate to bring up some good english songs! If Per and Marie wanted to sing in Swedish, nobody will stop them, but please without abusing the name ’Roxette’. For Swedish market they don’t need the name ’Roxette’ to be successful, and for international market it would be a big flop. (e.g. Baladas en espanol is the only album that i do not have in my collection)
PiterPam said on May 11, 2003 11:33:
I think that they never recorded a Roxsong in swedisch. So far away and He´s got the look aren´t recorded to be roxsongs. It was just a birthdayparty and not a Roxette-concert... so tevensso is right.

Original question
“With Per’s new album coming out, I was wondering if Roxette has ever recorded or sung (live)”
“has ever recorded”:
recording: “to store sounds or moving pictures using electronic equipment so that they can be heard or seen later”
but oh well... let’s say they didn’t know they were recording.... then ok (but i really doubt that)
“or sung (live) their songs (Roxette songs) in Swedish?”:
Singing live: it doesn’t mean singing live in a CONCERT.
singing live in a recording: singing without later additional cuting or adding of parts.
singing live: singing in front of people without doing playback.
performing live: being in person in front of people or if recording, recorded as it went...
“their songs (Roxette songs)”
Roxette songs: as formerly released by Roxette...
It’s just a matter of reading interpretation
harriej said on May 11, 2003 21:07:
@tevensso: You are ok! Don’t get upset by all those people who are replying you in a incorrect manner.
Keep up the good work. Thumbs up for you.

Um, I don’t think so. The whole idea behind Roxette was to do songs in English for the international markets, while leaving their solo careers/side projects in Swedish or English. Per’s done solo + GT records in both languages, Marie’s recorded CDs only in Swedish, but has English solo demos it seems, like “Hometown”. As for whether I would buy a Swedish-language Rox album?? The answer is hell, f*** yeah!! ANYTHING Per + Marie record, I buy, knee-jerk reflex really, LOL!!
