Weird thing about "The Pop Hits"

Someone may have mentioned this before but isn’t weird that “Dangerous” and “Stars” appear in “The Pop Hits” in their album versions instead of single cuts ?
“The Pop Hits” is supposed to feature Roxette hit singles and I expected the songs to appear in their respective single versions.
They included radio edits of “Joyride” and “Sleeping in my car” for instance but failed to feature the single version of “Dangerous” and the Almighty single version of “Stars”.
Am I the only one here to find that weird ???

I’m glad they didn’t take the Almighty version of Stars.

That’s not the point, I’m afraid.

What do you mean?

By the way, the videoclip of Stars is based on the original Stars version.

SIMC is the album version, not the single

My point is I expected the songs on “The Pop Hits” to appear in their single versions, not their album versions.
I find it strange to release a singles collection without the single versions.
That’s what I meant.

I don’t find that weird at all. Noone ever talked about having the single versions instead of album version.
What I find weird is to have songs such as Little Miss Sorrow, Bla Bla ... and balad songs in this album.

Almighty Single Version is just that...A single version. It’s a remix actually. It’s featured on the single, but isn’t the album version too? The structure/arrangement of the “Almighty Single Version” is quite different from the album version - whereas if you compare the “Look Sharp!” version of “Dangerous” to the “Single Version” there’s not much difference except for the intro.

Same goes for the single edits as well. They are the album versions edited. “Stars (Almighty Single Version)” is a remix, not an edit of the album version.

By the way, the version of “Sleeping In My Car” on my “Pop Hits” CD is the “Single Edit.” I really think the “Single Edit” of “Sleeping In My Car” is unnecessary, since it only edits a small portion, which I quite like and think it deserves to be there. :)

i agree: on a greatest hits CD there should only be hits, that is singles, that is single-versions. It certainly is strange!

@ DaminehGessle

BBBBB isn’t on the album...It’s on the EP. And LMS isn’t a ballad - hello!!

@ everyone opposing the Almighty Stars

The thing is that at the time when the Stars was released to the radio, it was the Almighty version the DJs played. Also, it was the A-side song of the single! People who bought had most probably heard IT on the radio and went to buy the single version! And now, this Almighty version seems to have become a rarity. Including it on TPH instead, probably could have boosted the HAND sales, too...i.e. “the album version is quite different & better IOO”-Per/Marie. ;)

ummm i dont find it weird at all.... its not like anyone would really notice ooo oh my goodness its the album version on the singles collection... what a disgrace.... LOL whatever

What’s the point about all this anyway? Single edits or albums versions ...who cares? Is that soooo damm important is that gonna change your life forever? Can’t you sleep well anymore? Please.... just listen to what you’ve got and get over with it!

be free to discuss whatever for as long as it makes sence talking about it....

Q:
Whats the difference between the single/album version of SIMC? :O

Sorry I didn’t mean ballad! I meant POP! LMS doesn’t sound like Joyride, The Look, SIMC and the rest of the songs does it??
Isn’t the EP a part of the album TPH?? Jeez!

Maybe not but it does sound like June afternoon, How do you do, Church of your heart...and quite honestly for me LMS is the best thing in TPH.

@ DaCapowhatever

Are you a bit dumb? If it doesn’t interest you why bother to write such b.s? Hopefully YOU can sleep okay tonight!

Yes i can sleep very weeeeelllll thanx for the concern but it seem you don’t really.... can’t you flamme other people without copy-pasting them?
That’s not a very clever thing to do....

You bother yourself too much with nothing

Take it easy, Mr :)

Based on the previous I don’t think you’re the one to define what’s clever and what’s not...After all, you started it.

What is so interesting about this topic? Is that such a big deal if we have or have not the singles edits on the TPH album? I like it as it is...

I think “interesting” is defined by how many replies the topic has gotten.

What is this talk about doesitreallymatters’, whocares’ and notveryinterestingthreads’ anyway? There have been a lot more stupid discussions here that haven’t got any kind of criticism...I think it’s worth replying when you actually have something to say, something that does associate with the topic! So sorry for standing aside. :p

But i think that if we want to discuss something that is worth interesting to really good to say something for it should at least be an issue about something more substacial something that we believe that others will imediatly reply to no matter what...
I look at this topic honestly and i just don’t see that but yet i left my doubt “what’s the point anyway?” cause if this is important for the person who wrote it then OK i won’t say a word then...

Well... in Brazil, the radios always played “Dangerous” on its album version! And also the “power mix” version.
And the few radios that played “Stars” also only played it on its album version.

god bless the childrens choir!

I really miss NEL, chances dancehall version and SDLHA on the CD :(

Thank you Animal Kingdom.
Single/album versions don’t stop me from sleeping at night thank you Da Capo.
I just felt a little disappointed with the content of ’The Pop Hits” (not to mention omitted pop hits like “She doesn’t live here anymore” and “Fireworks” but that’s another subject) and wanted to share that with people here who might agree, or not.
Maybe you should go back to your Ace Of Base cds and avoid threads you’re not interested in.
THAT would make me sleep better at night.

For the comment above about not worrying about single edits and so forth...to some people it IS important and is a good topic of discussion. I’m not going to lose sleep over issues such as this, but it’s something I think is worth discussing, especially if it doesn’t make much sense - that of course referring to some of the things Capitol does.

“Q:
Whats the difference between the single/album version of SIMC? :O”

Listen to SIMC on “Crash! Boom! Bang!” and then listen to it on “Don’t Bore Us” or “Pop Hits.” The difference is that part of the ending is edited out...the part in the album version where Marie sings “I will undress....I will undress you...ohhh...sleeping in my car” is edited out for the single edit.

s-czopek: are yous some kind of paranoic or something? if you can sleep well at night why the hell are you bugging me? and please ... we’re in a roxette forum... no one is interesred in talking in ace of base here... jesus... the things you complain about...

TPH booklet also sais “Church Of Your Heart” is the 6th (!) single taken from the Joyride-album, I always thought it was the fifth?

Am I wrong here?

radio edits suck they usually butcher out the best parts of a song to make it fit radio format..fireworks and cbb are prime examples of that

I wish they had included the album version of Listen to your heart. The ending is so magic and wonderful...
