why does lots of roxette fans doesn’t love per as much as they love marie
He’s great artist and as a person .
His voice is manly and really sexy .I love it .Its like he’s singing to all the girls outhere.
And will you stop comparing Per to marie, yeah I know Maries voice is the best and incomparable but the way their voices is the best .it suits the songs and the instrument.
and for all you know without Per there will be no roxette in the first place .

I love Per and I love his voice.
First of all, I don’t think you can compare a female voice to a male voice. That’s why there’s a separate award for best male singer and female singer (just like acting and sports).
Per’s voice sounds great for a guy. I mean, we wouldn’t want him singing like Marie (like a woman) would we???
Songs he sang suits him very well. “The Look”, “Joyride”, “ATAY”, etc. And I honestly think that the songs he sang are better sang by a guy than a girl (by Marie).
My friend and I were discussing about “male singers”, and we both agree that there are more great female singer than a great male singers.
So, I asked her which “male singers” does she think have a really good voice???
She named a few singers including Roxette (Per).
I was so happy when she said that. She didn’t say it for my sake because she didn’t know I’m a Roxette fan. Of course after that, I told her I’m a big Roxette fan.
I’ve always believed that a great singer is not all about your capability of being able to reach those high notes. Of course a voice that sounds good always counts but what is also important is singing the songs that suits you.
So, if you’re a singer that can sing different kind of songs (versatile singer) you are really good.
For example, Christina Aguillera has a very good voice but I’m not sure if she could sing songs that sounds better for a soft voiced singer like “Thank You” by Dido.
Elton John has a good voice too, but I didn’t like his version of “Thank You” when he sang the chorus of that song with Eminem, and as one of my friends described it, he sounded “yuck”.

I’ve always wondered why people get so down on Per’s voice too... sure, he’s no Luther Vandross, but would anyone *want* to hear Luther Vandross singing “Joyride”?! Per’s voice is perfect for the kinds of songs he writes (and when it isn’t, Marie steps in (-: ). I’ve always preferred female vocalists and (with the exception of R&B singers) thought that most male vocalists sound pretty much the same (and most R&B singers sound exactly the same as *each other* too!!)... there are some exceptions, though... I think Rob Thomas’ voice (Matchbox Twenty) is really distinctive and quite versatile, given that he’s not an R&B singer... and like Per, he almost never relies on singing in a falsetto, which is a very good thing!

I love Per’s voice, but I’ve always wondered, didn’t Per sing lead in Gyllene Tider, or did someone else sing lead?? Just curious...
roxtexanet said on February 19, 2003 05:02:
@powerpoplarry: Per did, on every song but one (“Min Tjej Och Jag,” from “Moderna Tider”... an experiment that for very good reason was never repeated!!!).

Oh OK!! If that’s the case, where Per sang all but one GT song, and had 2 solo albums PRIOR to Roxette, why does Per get dissed as a singer?? Doesn’t he have a good reputation, from the much-loved GT?? And why does Per say he only sang lead on certain Roxette songs at first, cuz is confidence as a singer wasn’t there?? And, why on “Vulnerable” did he sing, for the first time, a Rox ballad??
It seems Per shoulda sang all the Rox songs from the get-go, as he wrote them all. Why the dissing?? Yes, Marie is awesome, but why dis Per??
