Well, I’m not a fan of Celine’s but maybe it’s because the last album was sorta overlooked or maybe it wasn’t promoted to the fullest?? I heard her new cover of “I Drove All Night”, originally done by Cyndi Lauper and Roy Orbison, and her version SUCKS!!! TERRIBLE!! The balls were ripped off the song, the cool hooks and arrangements and quirky passion are gone, replaced by Celine’s bombast!! She did the same thing with Eric Carmen’s “All By Myself”. I can just picture Celine punching herself and the air, trampling that song!! LOL!!

I think Celine Dion is an excellent singer. She has a great voice. I have a lot of her CDs and I prefer her french albums much more. But still I have to agree that her version of “I drove all night” sounds terrible.

I read once that Eric Carmen doesn’t like when somebody covers one of his songs, but he said that he likes Celine’s version of “All by myself”. I don’t like Celine’s version of IDAN because I don’t like the dance beats. I always loved Cyndi Lauper’s version. I can say that I’m Celine’s fan, but her music changed a bit lately. I love her older works. Her new album “One heart” will be out next month.

I hate her bad cover of IDAN cuz the original arrangement, which formed the hook itself, is totally gone. So is the melody. And she replaced the restrained approach by Cyndi + Roy with a bludgeoning that makes it painful to the ears.

Yes it is odd, but Celine IS odd and kooky. Um, Epic did release a followup, “I’m Alive”?? It did well AC and on the dance chart, but she’s releasing “One Heart” to coincide with her shows at her new Vegas venue built for her, talk about ego-stoking!! Plus, another thing that ruins IDAN is that it’s being used to to spike her being the spokeswoman for Chrysler cars. Talk about cheesy!!
