Girls Aloud

Do you guys know Girls Aloud?
I usually disslike Girl Bands with a passion, but I must say, their song: “Sound of the udnerground” must be the Song of the year! I love this song so much, I think, it is one of the best songs ever in Music History.

Why shame about the group? Just coz they are a Popstars production? I must say, they are talented and can sing. And they are lucky to have such a brilliant song.

I think they are a bit stiff, the only one with any talent is Nicola. The rest look wooden.... but who knows they may improve with time. At least they are better than One True Voice.

Just think about the amount of promo they get and the amount of air play time they take up, how they were created and how long it took them to get to the top and how much hard work they’ve NOT done for years to make it and then think of how much credit Roxette get..... after that...... think again if you like them ;)

All what the popstars producations really is, it is a dream come true for some teenagers that dream of being stars. Of course Millions try top take part in it. And of course the ones that make it are promised to have some fame (for a long or short time period). So are you saying, I should just disslike them, for being the lucky ones, that got the chance to live their dream?
I am not a fan of Popstars productions, but sure, I do not disslike them, because they don’t work as hard as Roxette has done. That is a stupid reason to disslike someone. After all, they were lucky to get such a brilliant song, and of course, it is not written by themselves... but the song still is great.
Just look at one of the German Popstars productions, they are called “No Angels”, the second Album they released, it was with mostly self written songs, and them songs were even better then the ones before... so, a lot of them girls and boys actually do have a lot of talent, even songwriting talent.
And I would like to say it again,
I do not disslike someone, for being lucky, to be able to live their dream when not having worked as hard as Roxette have done.

I don’t like it. Could have been produced better. (Maybe it’s the MP3 quality :D)

its stuff like this that make the music industry and real musicians look like shit..peoel who work all their lives never get a deal heres some bimbo in a skimpy dress and she get a record deal its not right

Who cares? I am just happy for any of the Popstars production stuff kids, all they do is, live a dream come true... so what! Some people win the Lotto and we don’t complain, so they won Music fame, why do we complain?
Sure I do work really hard in my job, and people win the lotto, do I complain? Of course not!

In Spain we have something similar called “Operación Triunfo” and I gotta say that is just not fair. It’s shown on TVE that is the national TV. Look how “funny”: these karaoke singers get a lot of promotion during more than three weeks, being at all times in the TV, talking about them in all media... blah blah blah... This promotion is worth billion Euro.
The “funny” thing about it is that being shown on a public television, the REAL MUSICIANS that make a living out of their music and pay their taxes to the government are actually forced to pay the promotion for this karaoke kids, that then due to this brainwashing on the media get more sales than anyone else.
Is that fair? Being born with a cute face is the only important thing?
And now I’ll go to study a little more harmony, just in case real music has a chance...

songs not bad.... just the fact that they should have written it themselves and got together alone... without the hype of popstars which is the only reason they were number1

Funny how many of us thought Girls Alout would not last for more then a couple of hit songs. They are going stronger than ever before! :-) I always loved them too!!
ally77 said on January 21, 2005 13:12:
Strange they are still around, all though I gotta admit they have improved, so I take back what I said orignally, still I would not buy anything from them!

I hate people that slag off the spice girls, and then say “oh, but Girls Aloud are great!”. I’m not saying that anyone here has slagged off the spice girls - but it happens.
By The Spice Girls 2nd album - they had sold some 35+ million records - Girls Aloud have sold barely a million. Sales aren’t everything... but I think this proves my point:
Girls Aloud Certifications:
Singles:
Sound Of The Underground - Platinum
Albums:
Sound Of The Underground - Gold
What Will The Neighbours Say - Platinum
That ’Platinum’ certification is a bit sketchy, seeing as how the album only charted @#6, and has only recently surfaced on the charts again (a week before Christmas, where it went to #17). You all know how UK certifications have nothing to do with sales, right? And how they’re merely a representation of how many copies went into the stores - and not nescessarily bought. I reckon this Platinum thing is a case of Simon Cowell/Louie Walsh-hype.
Spice Girls Certifications:
Singles:
Wannabe - Platinum
Say You’ll Be There - Platinum
2 Become 1 - Platinum
Mama/Who Do You Think You Are - Platinum
Spice Up Your Life - Platinum
Too Much - Platinum
Stop - Silver
Viva Forever - Platinum
Goodbye - Platinum
Holler/Let Love Lead The Way - Silver
Albums:
Spice - X10 Platinum
Spiceworld - X5 Platinum
Forever - Platinum
Spice Girls = a huge flashback for millions of people from the ’90’s (like me!)
Girls Aloud = nothing to nobody. Nice pop songs, but they’ll never be in the same league as The Spice Girls.

But, ya know what... niether of them match up to the mighty All Saints!
UK Certifications:
Singles:
Never Ever - X2 Platinum
Under The Bridge/Lady Marmalade - Gold
War Of Nerves - Silver
Pure Shores - Platinum
Black Coffee - Silver
Albums:
All Saints - X5 Platinum
Saints & Sinners - X2 Platinum
All Hits - Gold
The difference between The Spice Girls’ slump in sales for their 2nd album and All Saints’ - is that All Saints were officially broken up after the 2nd single from that album. That GREAT 2nd album easily could have matched, if not overtaken, the X5 Platinum mark of the 1st album.
eBay said on January 25, 2005 08:17:
And All Saints could really sing! I also loved that they wrote all their songs themselves! Pure Shores must be one of my favs of that band!
RoxHard said on January 28, 2005 04:21:
Yeah, that’s a great aspect of All Saints. And it wasn’t the usual type of Girl/Boy-band “writting their own songs” (i.e: girls aloud constantly claiming to write their own songs, yet they’re lucky if they write 5 songs on their whole album!). Every song All Saints ever did (with the exception of the 2 covers, and Let’s Get Started) were written by the girls (whether together, or solely).
And... the funny thing is... everyone says how Shazney had all the talent, yet my 2 favourite songs (War Of Nerves and Dreams) had Natalie Appleton’s name on the writting credits... :)

And again.. lots of time has passed and the Girls are still around and never had a song that charted lower than top 10...

I really liked their Whole Lotta History song. I thought that was defo their best track. I thought that Biology was terrible. Sounds like 3-4 different tracks all rolled into one
