When did you become a fan?

For me it was when I heard “The Big L” on the radio, I loved the song so much and made a 90 min tape of it. I was 13 it was Aug 1991. I thought Roxette where German for the first month I was a fan till I bought the Joyride album and discovered they where from Sweden. My life changed forever.

I bought the Joyride album for some strange reason - not sure why. I don’t think it was a conscious decision, then my mum’s boyfriend bought me the Tourism video for christmas 1992 I think - from then onwards I was hooked.
Seems like I managed to miss their greatest years here in the UK 1989-1992. But hey, maybe the best are yet to come...
’didn’t I tell you everything was possible in this deja vu?’

I became a fan in 1989 when I first saw The Look on MTV. I loved the video and the song at first sight. When I later heard Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous, Dressed For Success and It Must Have Been Love I knew that this was the band for me. Then I bought the Joyride album and was blown away. It´s been like that ever since.

1994-95 when i saw the commercial for the Cool Rock compilation in the US with IMHBL, it’s the piano solo 3/4 into the song that drawed me to them. Then I bought Look Sharp, Joyride, CCC, and so on.

I became a fan in 1989, when a friend forced me to listen to The Look on his WalkMan... WOW - that’s for sure a long time ago !!!!!

1987. I was only 7. My cousin sent me Pearls of Passion and I fell in love with So Far Away. Then I fell in love with Per and oh my God what teenage years I had. When I was 13, I told this childhood friend of mine, who adored me by all means, that there was a man twice my age I was in love with and that I could not see him but also I could not cheat on him. The poor boy disappeared from my life. I’d never told him who the old man I loved was. He would’ve probably thought I was crazy. A few months later, he sent me a letter wishing me luck in finding this man of my dreams and that he loved me. Hahaha. Now that I think of it, I realize whatta a dream I was living in.

I’m an Australian
I first became a fan in 1989 at age 10 when I first heard The Look.
At the end of 1990 when a got a portable radio, where I could record to blank tape (really thinking I got something) I taped some songs I liked. Dressed For Success, Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous and It Must Have Been Love.
After really listening to these songs it sounded like they were the same band and since all my friends has a fav band and I didn’t I decided Roxette was the band for me.
After finding out it was also Roxette who sang The Look (I originally thought this song was called Juvenille Scare for some reason, prob the lyrics) I had no hesitation in Roxette being my favourite band.
Fast forward to 2002 I am now 23 and my friends bands all split up years ago. Roxette are still going thankfully and my favourite all time song is Crush On You.

In 1991 during the glorious Joyride-times. I had a friend who was really crazy about Roxette and she kind of ’infected’ me... But I remember that my brother brought a tape with ’the look’, ’dfs’, ’sleeping single’ ’paint’ and ’dangerous’ in 1989 and I didn’t like it.... Taste change!!!!!! fortunately ;-)

It was in 1996. I knew Roxette and The Look was my favourite song since 1989, but I cannot say I was a fan. Though a friend of mine asked me for the tape that I had which contained The Look (the first record I ever bought with my own money) I said NO WAY! :DD
I “followed” their career thru compilations and in 1994 I had Crash Boom Bang in my hands, thought I read the name of the songs and decided NO WAY! :DDD
By then I kind of hated Sleeping in my car and was the only one I knew in it :DDD
But then one day in a store I saw the Greatest Hits, in CD. I had just a new CD player and I decided I could buy something for it... so this was also the first CD I ever bought with my money :DDD
I played it and hey, I knew all songs in it :) Except the new ones, but I loved SDLHA and IDWTGH. I absolutely hated YDUM (I still do :DD) and there was song that made me a fan... JUNE AFTERNOON. So cool :D I was born in June, June’s the coolest month for me for many reasons, it touched me deep, even being such a “light meaning” song :P

I became a fan twice! Once from the second I was born (dad had the look playing in the hospital in sept’ ’87!) and then again a few months ago when I saw them perform the same song on Top Of The Pops 2 on bbc! Kind of wired that it was the same song, but I have been addicted since then!

About 1994-5, my brother was obsessed with them.I started to sort-of like them, but it actually started late 1999, right before I bought HAND, followed by a lot of others!
I could have possibly been a fan earlier, but I wasn’t serious about music then.(Born in 1987)

1992.
I would borrow a friends tapes(Didn’t have CD player then!!).
Then when I got my student grant in 1993, I bought Tourism and Joyride on tape, and Almost Unreal was first single I ever bought.

1989 -> Listen to your heart. I loved the song so much that my best friend bought the 7” for me.
I became a fan (and member of the fanclub) and stayed Rox crazy untill 1994/1995, I guess. After that it faded a bit, but I still like them and I went to the RS tour anyway. But I was glad they played a lot of old stuff, because I don’t really like HAND and RS.
I would have loved them playing at the Night of the Proms. I really missed them...
roxlad said on December 1, 2002 19:28:
So nice to read there are people who bacame fan with HAND. You see Roxette aren’t dead!!!!
In my case... I was 13 or 14... I saw this video on TV and I thought who’s these crazy duo? Especially him... he seems crazy. It was the Swedish video to “The look”. Then I bought a copy of “Look Sharp!” on tape. Played A-side for about a month and then I discovered B-side and got addicted!!!

Esspecially “Dangerous” made me love the music.
