The Pop Hits in reality

Though we’ve been through this topic for a couple of times before I thought we could give the tracklist for the spring collection some serious thought, too.
Now, let’s assume it will feature 15 songs (like ’The Ballad Hits’), two new ones and 13 greatest hits.
The most obvious singles to be included are:
- The Look
- Dressed For Success
- Dangerous
- Joyride
- The Big L.
- How Do You Do!
- Sleeping In My Car
- Stars
- The Centre Of The Heart
So, 4 left?
That’s a bit of a dilemma, don’t you think?
Anyway:
Neverending Love might be included since it’s one of Roxette’s biggest hits in Sweden and that is, after all, their very first (hit) single.
3 more:
Since Church Of Your Heart or Run To You do not qualify as power-pop tunes, I say they’ll leave them out entirely. Someone already said they’re ballads so...
Fingertips ’93 could be chosen instead. It’s a bigger hit than Real Sugar, Fireworks, June Afternoon and She doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Remember it got in the Top 50 in Germany (RS #96, FW #51, JA #50 something, SDLHA #86). In Sweden it also peaked among the Top 40 whereas She Doesnt didn’t even make the Top 60.
Fireworks is also my choice as it made the U.K. Top 30, Sweden #34, Germany #51 as stated above and even the Finnish Top 20 (#16).
And the final choice is June Afternoon. Some might consider it as a flop but look at the other choices. SDLHA is definitely NOT a hit, nor is Real Sugar.
Putting together ’Greatest Hits’ is about selecting the best performed chart singles so this would be the most definitive tracklist:
1. (New Song)
2. Neverending Love
3. The Look
4. Dressed For Success
5. Dangerous
6. Joyride
7. The Big L.
8. How Do You Do!
9. Fingertips ’93
10. Sleeping In My Car
11. Fireworks
12. June Afternoon
13. Stars.
14. The Centre Of The Heart.
15. New Song.

I heavily doubt they’ll put Neverending Love on the album. It wasn’t even an international single. And yes, COYH and RTY are rather powerballads in my eyes...
I think it will turn out something like this:
01. New Song
02. The Look
03. Dressed For Success
04. Dangerous
05. Joyride
06. The Big L.
07. How Do You Do!
08. Fingertips ’93
09. Sleeping In My Car
10. Fireworks
11. June Afternoon
12. Stars
13. The Centre Of The Heart
14. New Song
That’s it. SDLHA and RS didn’t make any impact on the charts nor radio. Maybe they’ll put something like The look ’95 on the disc or 3 new songs. But it doesn’t have to be 15 songs!

Animankingdom: I just wanna say that Real Sugar was a bigger hit than Fingertips´93. I don´t know how they charted in Finland but they did quite well here in Norway.

First of all, I thought “Salvation” wasn’t really a big hit? So, I don’t think Roxette/Capitol are going by necessarily their “biggest” hits.
I really think “Real Sugar” will make the cut - just to give the album the extra push.

I hope Neverending Love will be included to Pop Hits.
F’93 is *not * as good as Fireworks or SDLHA are. I would definitely put SDLHA to Pop Hits.
Charts my ass!!! :P

i think it’s gonna be lika animalkingdom sais.... it has to be 15 tracks...
but i i think the may take NL away and put on RS.... i mean it seems like they want to have the newer songs on it to... i mean salvation... not a hit
Roxoholic said on November 22, 2002 14:17:
Just for the record: Salvation was a big radio hit. A hit is a hit.

Although the Finnish charts are probably the last thing they look at when choosing the songs, ’Salvation’ actually entered the Finnish Top 20 singles (#18). ’Anyone’ and ’A Thing About You’, for instance, did not (just for the record)... :-)
I don’t have anything against RS, I just hope they don’t prefer it to NEL. The worldwide audience knows nothing about the pearls from Pearls Of Passion, you know...

Im tired of buying greatest hits. I already have Dont bore us, The ballad hits, and now this...
Sigh
Im going to buy it anyway...

Only reason I bought the TBH was because of the 6 new songs... Burnt them to a CD by themselves and listen to them...

I think “Real Sugar” WILL be on the album. Why would “Fingertips 93” be on the cd and not “Real Sugar”?
Roxette-atic said on November 23, 2002 10:51:
And “Salvation” was a huge flop. Both on the sales and on radio charts.
animalkingdom said on November 23, 2002 15:48:
@ Roxette-atic
Fingertips is a song that was terribly left in the background. However, it sold much better than RS. Roxette call these two albums _greatest hits_ packages so judging by that - Fingertips will be there more evidently than Real Sugar.

Imagine that The Pop Hits has 20 tracks...oh!
