yes, she could buy a teach-yourself course
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0340618620/qid=1037103088/sr=2-...
This course is pretty ok for an absolute beginner.

The Swedish institute (Svenska Institutet) used to have information about where to study Swedish language abroad. Try: http://www.si.se/ I guess there are many places in England to study Swedish.
Here are the places where Swedish is taught in Great Britain http://www.si.se/E_svenskundervi/6406.cs

@Underdog... I was wondering, does your nickname come from a Torbjörn Flygt’s book called like that?
zaine said on November 12, 2002 20:40:
yeh, but im only 15 and just started my GCSE’s. Swedish is not an option at school, and i would not be able to travel to a lesson. what i would like is for someone to be my kind of ’pen-pal’. you would write e-mails to me in swedish that i could study and translate and attempt to write back. i find this is the easiest way to learn. as for the t-shirts on ebay it is rare. if perhaps you have one i could buy, or know where i can definately buy one please tell. :)

Have you got any Gyllene Tider albums, or Marie or Per solo-albums?
I’ve learned Swedish by their cd’s. I bought a dictionary and a grammar book and translated the lyrics. So, first I taught Swedish myself and later on I joined evening classes Swedish.
Maybe you can do the same thing.

The best dictionary I’ve found is here: http://www-lexikon.nada.kth.se/skolverket/swe-eng.shtml

that’s a very good dictionary !
@ Santi
I don’t know the book you mentioned...
I once saw the nick ’Overdog’ so I thought
of calling myself ’Underdog’. just for the fun of it.

Underdog here in the US was a Cartoon about a dog who was kinda like Superman. Don’t ask, I didn’t create him. Also, underdog is someone who isn’t a favourite to win in a game or something like that. The least likely... ya know?

zaine, why don’t you have private lessons at home with a good teacher? This is what I do at least! And I found out that swedish is not a very difficult language.
