So now there are some questions.... has Roxette signed a deal? Are they with Capitol Records here? and will they do promotion? This is great.

*holds up a little flag that says “American” across it*
Fan... right here! :o) Okay... it’s time for me to sound off, I’ve had some time to think about it since the news broke.
Yes, I think the release is GREAT news. However, after the miserable attempt with EAR, I have to wonder if it is at all possible for Roxette to make a dent (even a small one) in the American market. But then again, I haven’t heard much in the way of “new” stuff out of BSB, NSYNC, B. Spears... in fact, I’ve heard about SOLO stuff out of Justin Timberlake and Nick Carter.
I worked in tandem with LEO and others on the promotion of WICF here in the US. And I’d be more than happy to pick up the ball again and run with it for ATAY and the new album. HOWEVER, personally, I would like to see more support out of the record company. WICF bombed badly, not because of lack of effort on NorthAmeriFans part (in fact, the numbers kept climbing here in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1 radio station in particular), but a lack of effort from EAR.
At least, that’s how I see it. So, if I am understanding this right, Roxette has signed with Capitol Records here in the US. Now, is Capitol gonna push the new album at all? Or are we gonna see a repeat of EAR? I will do what I can from my end. I have a printer and a graphics program where I can design some flyers or something. I still have a few people I can call to help me out with this. And I still work for the same bus company where I can “sneak” my flyers out on the busses ;o)
That is, if no one minds that I do this?
I’ve also talked to a couple of others here about the release date (around Valentine’s Day). And it’s agreed that it might not be a bad thing. Check the cover gang... a heart. Unoriginal when it comes to Valentine’s, however, it IS associated with that particular holiday, and if I was involved with someone, I’d be looking to get them something that had a heart on it or something of the like.
*gets down off little soap box* Long and short of it, folks, let’s hope that this goes somewhere :o)
Thanks for your indulgence.
mikeyt said on October 31, 2002 02:32:
well i know i will be calling my local stations.... i bombarded K104 up here in NY, and they actually played the remix of WICF regularly.
I just hope this is really going to happen, and isnt another false alarm like “Room Service” being released here was.
I just want to see them live.... Im dying for a concert..... i will help with another Roxattaq any way I can

Good ideas, Littlespooky, with the banners. I like that!
I’m also in on the promotion deal for the U.S. My e-mail is [email protected] if anyone wants to discuss ideas.
LittleSpooky said on October 31, 2002 05:20:
Jas: Thanks *chuckles*
They weren’t anything special folks. Just some information posted on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper, photocopied (to death I’m sure) and some of the promotional stuff that LEO sent me to add to it. Nothing spectacular, just creativity :o)

i remeber making my own posters for their ny2000 gig and putting them on bus stops and in mens bathrroms of all places..it worked i got three peopel who never heard of them show up
i plan to do the same simple promo again maybe this time a bit more colorfully. the key is that everyone shows up for the events and tries to get the news media interested
especially the fox 5 news team in new york AJ hammer works there he used to be a vj for vh1 in america and if roxette come to NY i am sure he would be very interested

The radio stations here will suffer with me!! :-)!!
Hey, Jason, the cd is done. Should go on with that plan now that it seems will get a release here in the US?
Take care.

Anyone still remember it ?? :-)!!

i just wanna rremind peopel that ear in america was and still is a crappy label and not to be compared to capitol usa which to some degree is better
LittleSpooky said on November 1, 2002 02:53:
No one is comparing EAR to Capitol. HOWEVER, Capitol is no better if they promote like EAR did.

Carlos, it’s a tough call. Let’s talk on AIM about the situation.

I’m very willing to help promote Roxette here in the US. I’ve been a huge fan since ’91 and I was lucky to see them here in L.A. in ’92. I’d say 10 years is a very long time to wait to see them again and I really hope, once Marie feels better, they can come back to their U.S. fans who love them. : )

*smiles* bout time i caught my butt up!!! as the original smiley person around here *giggles* hello everyone. Once again life called me and i had to leave again. But now that i’ve heard my call back here, i’ve once again run back to where i belong.
The RS false alarm drove me crazy-still does considering i STILL don’t have the damned album or POP for that matter- i hope that this works. now i know what to tell Shawn to get me for Valentines day!! *grins* if they don’t release it i will be disappointed but not surprised, However if they do release it i will be happy but and pretty surprised. The compilation ablum i would LOVE to have, and if they are releasing it i will be in line to get it the day it comes out. I’m hoping they get the right “exposure” unlike they did last time. The album has to be marketed just the right way. The market is getting cold for BSB N’SYNC and all those other bands. In fact its warming up more towards bands like, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, or its RAP. -as i am a punk fan i would notice- as the world trends are changing towards that “Punk” side. Which is fine by me. But not good unless Roxette REALLY gets themselves out there. I think that by Xmas the pop market will be hot again when all the new albums start pouring out onto the shelves. Just my thoughts as jumbled as they always are *smiles*:):):):):):):):)):):):)

C_Rocker27 said on November 5, 2002 01:42:
just thought I’d say.. there are still fans in the us..
have even converted some non Rox fans over.. but they are few and far between.. many people here when you say “Roxette” They say.. who? or “are they still together?” or they say “Oh yea... that hot blonde chic” Totally missing that Per was the other HALF of the band.
It would really take a HUGE hit to make them be recognised here again widespread.. but the fans I have run into here are very loyal.
I myself being from the UK was actually not a fan til I moved here and was converted by a couple of Gessle Girls.. LOL
whatever happened to the gessle girls anyways???? LOL

Hey guys!!
There is thread that our friend Mikeyt started in which he states: “On November 11th at 10pm, VH1 in the US is airing a program called “100 Greatest Love Songs”, and in the commerical they showed a clip from It Must Have Been Love. Rock on TV.com states that Roxette is one of the featured acts on this program.”
“It repeats on 11/12/02 at 12pm and 9pm. Check it out!”
Great right?? Hope all of us can watch that! Posted this here so all us of here can know and don’t miss it.

I’m glad Rox made the list but I don’t think I’ll watch a bunch a videos just to see a video I’ve already seen...unless I’m having a lovemaking session and I could have the videos playing in the background to set the mood.
LittleSpooky said on November 9, 2002 08:50:
Royal: MORE THAN I EVER NEEDED TO KNOW!!!!!
Carlos: What, are you kidding? Now that the excitment’s worn off about the release in the US, it’s all blassè again. I’ve noticed that a lot: People get psyched for something... it lasts about 4 weeks, and then it’s back to S.O.P. (standard operating proceedures). Note the lack of response to the post I wrote titled “Here We Go Again”
mikeyt said on November 9, 2002 14:02:
Little Spooky.... I totally see where u are coming from. I got so psyched when I read all the articles in Billboard, Rolling Stone, even US magazine had a snippet about “Roxette’s big comeback” with the album Room Service. THEN **SLAP**, nothing. Not even a word from Per and Marie to their LOYAL American fans about what happened. Then we get a story that Roxette no longer wishes to do lengthy promotion work so that will probably mean no future US releases. THEN we hear that in 2003 they are making a comeback. So its hard to believe what will happen.
The only thing that I can say is that VH1 has played TONS of these “chart” shows, and Roxette has never been on any of them. A few months ago VH1 even had “Greatest Soundtrack Songs” and Roxette wasnt on it!
So I guess I just feel like a “starving” man who has been thrown a crumb. HA HA
Potentially though, Roxette possibly signing with Capitol Records here in the US is as good a news for me right now, because POTENTIALLY that is the best system for Roxette to get some kind of airplay, and media coverage. It is certainly better than some INDEPENDENT LABEL with no money, that markets Roxette to all the 80’s retro radio stations.
OH WELL... I blabbed long enough. have fun.
LittleSpooky said on November 9, 2002 20:24:
Mikey: Do me a favour would you? Drop me an email? I wanna talk with you about somethings. No, you not in trouble.
I sympathise with you entirely. Back when Roxette did the Joyride Tour, I missed it. Voluntarily. No no no... do NOT call me any names because of it!! *lol* I missed it because I was in my senior year, and the concerts in Los Angeles, San Francisco (a couple of other cities in California, I think), and Mesa, Arizona managed to fall on or near exam time. And since I had fought my way up from a failing average to about a B+ average, I wasn’t going to do anything to screw it up.
It had taken me 4 years of hard work to get there, so I missed it. Anyway, with Roxette leaving the US market, I figured that was it. NO WAY could I afford a trip to Europe just for a concert. And now, with the rumours of a US comeback... I’m just too damned pessimistic to get my hopes up, only to lose them again (like after the debacle with EAR).
