IF EMI CAN’T DO IT, LEAVE IT DO THE NEWSPAPERS!

My father is one of the responsible for my Roxette passion, since he bought Joyride cassette in 1991. I was playing WICF some days ago, and he said: “These guys disappeared, uh? Never heard a thing about’em anymore.” Then I showed him ATAY (Swedish radio version) and it was just OK. We complained in the past they didn’t have good enough material and publicity, but now it seems they got at least one thing. I loved ATAY and TWOTW (btw, TWOTW it isn’t a hit candidate, but it’s pretty good to be an album-filling song, just like those old good album-flling ones – Fireworks, The first girl on the moon, etc). They made me feel like if they’re returning to good times. Per got new demos to record, the ‘gut-feeling’ thing over the new uptempo songs…so, everything flows calmly…isn’t it? No.
First Marie suffers this terrible thing. All newspapers of the world report it. And now, this…brainless Swedish guy appears with all that. Once again, newspapers give their attention back. But, now, Roxette turns from piety deservers to hate targets. Everybody noticed how Roxette is still loved by the ‘concerning-element’ that was inherit in every line about Marie in every language. And now, Per is almost turned in Dr. Evil. This Malmsdet is presented as the winner already, the tricked…what the hell! Things never go OK for Roxette. Tell me if you feel like me: Why the hell that always happens with them?
I’m unhappy like that ‘coz they don’t get a very strong image (not fame, I’m talking about something updated) and negative news like this and Marie’s only put you down, make people thing you’re quitting, destroy what’s bee done this year.
It seems almost like a conspiracy thing. Per said that the good things are safe to the Pop Hits album, with the brand new SIMC-alike potential hits. And then, this guy appears again with the whole story.
The biggest News Agency from my country just released a line some hours ago: ‘Roxette is sued for plagiarism”. Great isn’t it? Yesterday, the biggest radio station from my region (probably the 2nd biggest of my state, which is the biggest one from Brazil) reported this entire thing about Per’s case. But it didn’t say a thing about ATAY! And they didn’t release it on air yet! And it seems they’ll never do it, ‘coz they didn’t release Real Sugar and TCOTH last year! BTW, any radio station from my region did release ATAY, only the biggest one from my state, Jovem Pan…that sucks to the bone!
If Per win (and he will, no doubt) probably they won’t give a line for it.
Or maybe I’m wrong…I mean…some things in life are reversible…what tastes like poison, turns to wine if you got the antidote. If Per proves he’s right, maybe they’ll get pink lights over them again…and considering that this judgment is happening in England, a desert market for Roxette, hmm, what could we expect? Maybe the deserved attention, ‘coz they’re that judicial problem-maker band? For the first time, Roxette “did” something “wrong”, “accusable”!
Well, some small odds made people stronger…
You tell me, folks.

Any publicity is good publicity...I have been fan since 1992 and this SIMC-case is ONLY negative thing in publicity.

I remember the popularity increase of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and others while they were going through their court battles. While what they were going through was TOTALLY DIFFERENT from what Roxette is going through, the publicity was there. Who knows, they might benefit.

All I know is there is no such thing as bad publicity…
