Will TBH oversell RS?

What do you think? Will “The Ballad Hits” sell more than “Room Service” did? Some of you will reply ” who cares about sales” ,but I just want to know what you think-for fun. I think it will oversell “Room Service”. Everyone knows the songs and hopefully EMI will do SOMETHING to promote them. And hopefully folks willlike “A Thing About You” :)

It’s a collectanea with two new songs...what will call the attention of not-so-much-fans and of us, fans.
It has a EP, with songs that are selected from their wide repertoire of non-released, so...I guess...the best of the best of...

I think we don’t have to expect much promotion from EMI. I guess the TBH sales will be almost equal to RS.

I agree with Wendy, most people wouldn’t buy RS if they just knew The Centre Of The Heart... but they do know a lot of ballads and non-fans will buy it. Anyway, Greatest Hits albums are for that.

@DTR24
Well, I suppose we know now, it didn’t sell more copies than Room Service. I remember Room Service was in the German Top 5 for a few weeks! (I might be wrong, but didn’t Room Service even get to number 2 in Germany?)

What are the reasons in your opinion TBH was more succesful than TPH?
mf2004 said on January 20, 2005 15:01:
Room Service sold 1.8 million copies, and i don´t know TBH & TPH, maybe TBH sold more that RS, but TPH..., i think that sold 1 million.

i don’t theink either pop or ballads hits broke the 1 million mark did they?
animalkingdom said on January 20, 2005 20:40:
@ coyboy
The Ballad Hits in fact did break the 1 million milestone! They even got the World Music Award for being the best selling Scandinavian artist of 2002 because of that!

@LaMan
I think one of the reason TBH was more successfull than TPH simply was, because it was released first and then people were not as likely to bother buying another compilation.

I wanna answer too! ;-)
1. ballads sound more timeless than the more trend-orientated up-tempos.
2. TBH came out before christmas, the biggest record-shopping season.
3. TBH had a successful single, TV-spots and interview-promo by Per, TPH almost nothing out of this.
4. TBH got a spot on the news because of Marie’s tumour.
5. “The POP Hits” title with the popcorn theme could look a bit cheap and teenage-directed to the average record-buyer in contrast to the perfect-as-a-present cover of TBH.
So TBH already reached the 1 million mark in 2002, with UK, US and other releases to follow after that. It probably sold more than 1.5 million copies until now. TPH was never released in UK (?) and the US, I guess it never reached a million sales without hitting the top10 in countries like Germany.

The Pop Hits were actually released in the UK. but of course with no promotion what so ever. One day it just appeared in the shops, about 6 months after the international release date.

It will probably outsell RS because its a collection so will appeal to a wider audience.
Ppls will buy it because it has all their old fav’s on it ie: IMHBL and LTYH.
