Official press statement about Marie!

On September 11, Marie Fredriksson fainted in her home in Stockholm and was taken to hospital. The fall caused a serious concussion and Marie has been hospitalised ever since. Several tests and X-rays have been performed in order to establish what caused her fainting.
The results of these tests now shows that Marie has a small tumour in the back of her head. More tests have to be performed before proper treatment can be determined. Information will be given when information is available and of course we are hoping for a positive process.
It is however clear that Marie Fredriksson will have to cancel her commitments for near future. Marie is currently at home and under the circumstances in good spirits but it is of course a delicate procedure that lies ahead. On behalf of Marie and her family we kindly ask for respect of their privacy so that Marie, with the support of friends and family can proceed with her treatment and quick recovery.

This is NO time to fight over stupid stuff and try NOT to over-react. I guess Pascal didn’t mean what some think he did. Give the guy a break as he later tried to tell you what he meant so plezzz be kool.
Now is the time when we show Marie our support and our love for her. She has been working hard for years now. For me, for You, for all of us and even those who do not like Roxette.
This has me worried too but medical science has achieved great goals. I am sure Marie’s tumour has not matured yet and early detections can be easliy tackled. There are different types of tumours, cancer and other deseases. Some are not cureable and some are. The most important thing is that we DETECT THEM EARLY and so they have with Marie. Now for those who might ask me HOW DO I KNOW THIS? then listen.. if you do NOT ignore any blackouts and go to the doctor EARLY (like Marie) you will find that your tumour is not in a serious condition.
Lets wish the best to Marie .. our dear Marie.. Oh’ Marie how we truelyyy love you!!

How do you know it was detected early... I study medicine for 3 years by now and the size of the tumor has nothing to do with it’s potencial to kill someone.
Actually, I think that her tumor was detected too late, cause she already started to feel bad (that’s why she fainted) because of the tumor.
I’m praying with ALL my heart... there’s nothing else we can do... but I’m SO scared !!

It also reads, she will be cancelling her forthcoming engagements, so I don’t think she’ll be wanting to prance around on stage at NOTP!

I think that some people misunderstood what Pascal was saying. In my opinion, he wanted to say that he expects that marie recovers soon to return to her normal life and continuing what she was planning to do (for example perform in NOPT).
btw, please stop the fights, this is not the moment for that.
Anyway I’m sure this is only because we are worried about marie’s health.

I don’t know why all this uproar for such a small sentence. Most of you got me wrong. Of course Marie’s health is much more important than NOTP or promotion and of course the main goal now is to recover.
I’ll use baby language to explain what I mean(t):
MARIE @ NOTP -> MARIE OK -> I’d be happy
MARIE NOT @ NOTP -> MARIE NOT OK -> I’d be (still) unhappy

Before battle lines are drawn, let’s ALL stop for a minute here. This will take a few minutes as I am trying to figure out what to say so everyone will understand me.
I understand what Pascal’s trying to say. He’s trying to say that, in light of it all, he’d like to see Ms. Fredriksson up and able to perform at a future date. In spite of it all, to basically stand up and say: “Check this out! I’m large and in charge and this won’t / hasn’t / never will keep me down!” An example of this: The drummer from Def Leppard. Lost his arm in a car accident.
After rehab and so on, he’s back to wailing on the drums. Now before anyone flames me, I KNOW this is different. Brain tumours are VERY serious. Howsomeever, I believe this was detected fairly early. That does NOT diminish the seriousness of this matter.
I just hate the fact that a lot of folks are sounding the death knell at this moment. Science has come a long way since the leaches of the Dark Ages, ladies and gentlemen. And the situation is serious enough to warrant some concern, so complete and total flippancy is off the mark as well.
Best thing to do? Let’s take a few moments and say a prayer, or chant, or whatever for Ms. Fredriksson and those close to her. This is a challenging time for them and they need all the support they can get.
