Cooper and Marie

Yesterday I was listening to “Cooper”.Suddenly I discovered that it’s a great song.I don’t know why I had not understood it before.I put it in the repeat mode and listened to it 25 times.
I thought it could be a great hit by Marie’s voice.
Per’s voice is not good for this song.
If they remix it and add bigger space of sound to it(Like WICF) ; also louder drums and guitars and of course Marie’s voice,it will be a great song(as good as WICF).
Your opinions?

this song is amazing as it is! don’t change per into marie, coz it wouldn’t fit well! cooper is per’s!!!!!!

Well, it would be interesting, how the song would sound like if it would be sung by Marie ... but yes, it’s PER-fect, just the way it is!
You’re right! ;)

Cooper is fantastic with Per’s voice! Actually, it’s the only ballad sung by Per that I really like =)
Don’t you think that Cooper could be the “good girl leaving down the street” of “T-T-T Take it” finally leaving her husband?

I think Per’s voice is good only for some the uptempo songs not ballads or slow songs.
He doesn’t have a good voice for saying love words but it’s good for exiting. For example,in “The Look” he is great. But when he wants to be romantic, his voice is a little funny instead of romantic.
Although it’s just my opinion.

Yes baio!!!! I always thought that!!! I’m not alone!!! :-P

- Yashar, you are right, but Cooper is not romantic, I think it’s a little mysterious.
- Temps! You are as crazy as me! =P

Cooper is fantastic in Per’s voice, would be nice to hear it in Marie’s voice too, but it wouldn’t get better, maybe just as good as it already is...

the best version of the song is the closer to god remix...its stripped bare to teh orchestration and it gives me chills...shame there was never a great story video of this song just for the fans....i wasn’t much of a fan of the song till that version came out and then i really loved it ...marie singing coooper went out its just spine tingling..and one of the few times both per and marie sing together on the same notes in the same key.....i miss their duets

“Cooper” is great!
Per’s voice suited perfectly to the music. I think it was a bad idea not release it as a single (it should be released instead of “Stars” or “Salvation”). It’s the kind of music that claims for a video!
Well, at least I have my imagination...

The closer to go version is perfect! Never change Per’s magic ;)

Cooper: remind me of
- a winter tale
- mistery
- the CBB ballad with similar tone and vibe but not with the same grandiose ... saddly
Beautiful story with a lyric open to all sort of interpretations I love that ... and even if it’s not romantic it’s intense and profound ... it makes u get into it to swim around this misterious story of cooper ... I only realized its beauty only a while after getting HAND ...
And I agree with the fact that is Per singing it it gives a special touch I can not describe it’s like it makes sence the way it is .... yet i also think the songs would sound amazing sung by Marie ... but it would be necessary to give the song more power so that marie could sing it with all hear heart!

I would like all of you to take a look at the thread “Can you imagine the videos?”, where I made a personal description for a imaginary “Cooper” video. All opinions and other versions will be very welcome!

Cooper is one of the best song of Roxette. I love it, and it fits perfectly with Per’s voice, I believe.
Can you imagine marie singing Cooper live?

Such songs as Cooper, Vulnerable, A Thing About You suit Per’s voice perfectly. His male voice just gives more meaning to the song. And I agree that Cooper is one of the best songs from Have A Nice Day. Actually my sister who is not Roxette fan, loved this song immediately.

I like it with Per’s vocals. The chorus when they sing together is incredible. When I started to love Roxette I heard this song once on the radio and it became a kind of idee fixe for me because of its chorus before I got the cd. If Marie sang Cooper alone it would be totally another song. There are only a few ballads sung by Per and all of them are special. They are not that deep and full of emotions as Marie’s but very soft, tender and... cosy. Like that.
@Rox_Nox It reminds me of a winter tale and a mystery, too.
Although Cooper doesn’t need to be more powerful, it’s just a simple story, sad but not tragic.

Actually I don’t like WICF that much! But I love Cooper, so I would never compare those 2 songs.
I think the song is perfect just the way it is arranged, but ... yes .. maybe it could be even better, if it would have been sung by Marie, and if Per would just have sung the backing vocals.
Anyway .. I’ve loved that song from the first time I’ve listened to it!
