What’s the most common name of a man and a woman, and also the surname in you country ?
In Spain for men is probably Francisco o José, for women is Maria, and the surname without a doubt is García.

@ Stormkeeper :Dont know about Dan, but I am Spanish and I am against Bullfighting... I am even glad when some “Torero” is hurt :PPP and would like to see a bull fight when the bull is not under “drugs”, would be funny to see who wins then.
PS: Not all Spaniards support/like bullfighting, same as not all of us know how to sing/dance flamenco and not all of us like paella.. also a shame that people put all Spaniards in the same bag...

Austria:
girls: Katharina, Martina, Daniela, Julia, Anna, Lisa, Nicole, Barbara ..
boys: Markus, Christian, Martin, Christoph (Christof), Andreas, Stephan (Stefan)
surnames: Müller, Meier (Mayer, Meyer, Maier, and all that versions without the “e” before “r”)
Starrox said on July 26, 2002 01:42:
Wel, I could basically just c&p what Nefatari wrote about Austria and use it for Germany - I’d add Schmidt/Schmitt/Schmied/... to the surnames, but that’s about it...

hehe i just read in a Spanish newspaper online an article about the most common surname in the world: Li :P
The article says that about an 8% of the Chinese inhabitans use this surname, and that suming up all the people named Wang and Zhang (which are the 2nd and 3rd most used in China), about 270 million people use these 3 surnames = whole United States inhabitans :P

Just found it funny that this article pops up now :)

Here, in Bulgaria, the most common names for man are Peter, Ivan and Georgi for sure. For woman - maybe Maria, Marina, Anna, Milena as well (I’m Milena myself and I know 3 persons with the same name). About the surnames - almost all surnames here end with ’-off’ (’-ov’), or sometimes it is ’-ski’ for man (as far as i know it is the same in Russia... right, roxchurch? :). For woman it is ’-ova’ or ’-ska’ . So, maybe the most common are Petrov / Petrova, Ivanov / Ivanova and Georgiev / Georgieva.
