When Did you Listen Roxette for The first Time?

The first time I heard a Roxette song was in 1988, and the music was Listen to your Heart. It was love at first sight. How about you?

I was in my room...I was listening to the dutch top 40 on my portable radio...and roxette was the highest new entry or something like that.

The song was “the look”..........and I hated it!!!

But like many other rox songs...it grew on me each time I heard it on the radio.

I understand you, first time I heard The Look I hated too. :)

The Look in 1989 and I was in the hospital.

The song that caught hold of me and has never loosened it’s grip was, ’Almost Unreal’.

Almost Unreal is one of my favourites too

Almost Unreal is a BRILLIANT song, but the one that made me LOVE Roxette was How Do You Do!

NOW, that’s SOME SONG!

Keep Roxin’ peeps!

@LittleSpooky
***gulp*** i never thought that ’the look’ could have such an impact on the audience...to hear ’the look’ and be taken to the hospital....poor you ;))))))))))

I’ve heard histories of people that listened to some music and get better... :)

Freshold: I was already in the hospital. Believe it or not, a psych ward.

I was diagnosed as bi-polar manic depressive in 1989 and have had bouts of insomnia for my entire life. It just so happens that I was lying in bed, trying to go to sleep when I heard “The Look” play over my walkman. I fell asleep 4 songs later.

I saw Roxette on Entertainment Tonight (a program here in the USA) in 1991 and thought to myself, “Hmm, I’ve heard those songs! They’re by the same group, huh?” And, by coincidence that week I bought a pack of baseball-type music cards and Roxette was on one of the cards! What are the chances of that ?! Luck, I guess, for me! (All the other cards were American groups like Poison and GNR.) That was around the time they were playing, “It Must’ve Been Love” all the time on the radio...
Since then, it’s been love!!!
:)

That was on Tenerife while I was on vacation. The bartender put on ” Joyride”, ever since I heard it, I asked him several times a day to play that song, and sometimes he did!
Have been a big Roxette-fan since then!

I saw the How Do You Do! Videoclip on TV, and thought, that’s a great song! So i grabbed this CD my parents had, cuz I new a Roxette song was on it. It was I Remember You. A GREAT SONG!!! (the CD was a CD you get for free when you buy a cd during the national music weeks in Holland).

Afterwards, i copied some cassettes from the librabry, and then everything started...

My first Roxette song, that i noticed, was The Look in the 80th! ;) But than, i do not think about it. Untill a friend of mine showed me a copyed Musikcassette with the Pearls of Passion Album. But it was ín a very bad quality. Now, almost over 10 Jears later, i try to get every Roxette CD. So i get the old Pearls of Pession, Look Sharp, Tourism, Have a nice day .... etc. from www.ebay.com.
THERE ARE SILLY PEOPLE, WHICH SELL THOSE CD´S!! My luck, but i do not understand! :))

Bye
Sandra

Those people, probably are not fans :)

Yes, i think so. Or they urgend need some money! :D:D:D:D

Yeah, money is a problem :D :D :D, but It’s a problem even bigger when you’re a fan, there’s a new album, you want to buy it and you’re short of money :(

I listen to Roxette for the first time in 1989. The Look was playing constantly on MTV and I got hooked right away. I was 5 years old and now 13 years later I´m still hooked.

Hahaha, 1989 i was 12 Jears old and hooked! :))
In 1991 i was at the Joyride Tour in Düsseldorf in the Phillipshalle (if there are any germany, they know the place - maybe). Ten Jears later (last Jear in October) i was at the RS Tour in Dortmund in the Westfahlenhalle. Both events was the geatest i ever noticed. But, at the RS Tour the hall was not sold out - i wondered why! Is the time of Roxette over? But, when Rox´s time is gone, time of good pop music is gone too!!!!

@mrs j: its Years not Jears

Then I hope the Rox’s times neverend :)
Shao

Hi Shaolinda,

i hope so, too! ;) But, who knows ...

July 16 1986. Neverending Love. The single was still steaming from the presses! :D

Eeeh, I guess that was Summer of 93 or 94 when I heard a beautiful song on the radio at home.

Never knew who was singing. Later appeared to be some band called themselves Roxette (the song was “It Must Have Been Love”). Lended a compilation of their best songs on 8th of March 1994 with my father on weekend. Then it all started... O-hoy!

tevensso, wasn’t that first time when GT released Heartland under Roxette name? ;)

@ AM: Yes ok, if we count GT as Rox, then 1984... :)

I love GT too, but my first contact was with Roxette, because GT is not very knowed here in Brazil. By the way, you can’t find the albuns here.

GT are very very nice too. But ... i do not know the swedish language and for me as a german, it sounds very “unusual” ... because it came from another root. So for us its very hard to pronounce and you can´t hardly recognise a word like you can do in english or france. But i like “Sommertider” very much. It sounds so happy and tast´s like summer, sun and party with friends ... :)):))

Sandra

Well if it’s hard to you an european understand the language you can imagine to me a south american, almos all the countries of South America speaks spanish, here in Brazil, we speak portuguese, so diferent from swedish. So we almost live in a island. But the good thing of music is that It can break the lines of nationalities, cross the world and the hearts. :)

Oh yes! This time YOU are soooo right!!! :))) Roxette is the best example!! :)):)):)) See all the fans: Hungarians, Germany, Portoguise, Japanease, ..... :):):):)

I ’think’ I can remember hearing songs like ’Joyride’ and ’The Look’ in the ’80s, but didn’t take much notice at first. But it wasn’t until about 1993 when I found a compilation my mother had with ’It Must Have Been Love’ on it. My story begins there. :)

Yes, they have fans all over the world, I know now they have families to take care, but they should travel more. :)

seems they dont like to travel that much anymore no

Hm, i think its because the have both there own families an so they are glad, to be with them. I can absolutly unterstand that. I thinke, there “wild times” are over .... !!

Yeah, agree with both of you, that’s a pitty for us the fans who aren’t from europe, we have less chances to see Roxette alive. Last time they came to Brazil to make a big concert was with CBB tour, I was very sick, at the hospital couldn’t see the show...

Oh what a pitty !!! I saw Roxette twice ... first 1991 on Joyride-Tour when i was 13 years old. And second time last October, 28th in Dortmund at the Room Service-Tour. There i stand in the second row an could see them very near and at the end i touched Maries Hand when both say goodbye with the known words on the videowall ... !! ;);)
It was a very big moment!! Next three days, i had no voice anymore ... :)):))

The first time... I was 11, it was 1989 and my neaighbour -who lived in front of my house on the other side of the street- had Look Sharp and he played “The Look” and “Dressed for Success” all the long over and over again...

I felt in love with those songs and I used to open my window to be able to lsiten to them the best possible ;) ... well, and I was in love with him as well (from before!!!!!... after that I was even crazier about him, hiihhihiiiiii) :)

The first time... I was 11, it was 1989 and my neighbour -who lived in front of my house on the other side of the street- had Look Sharp and he played “The Look” and “Dressed for Success” all the long over and over again...
