Per is the fifth common male name in Sweden. It´s about 175 000 swedish men who is called that...
Marie is a very common name as well. It´s the 11:th common name and it´s about 122 000 Marie in Sweden...

It’s sure that there are more than only one “Marie Fredriksson”, and there are a lot of Pers but “Gessle” is not very common name in Sweden! Never heard it besides when it means our very Per! :o)

I’ve made a little search and found out that there’s another Marie Fredriksson, (Marianne, to be more precise), who must be an author, since her books are available on amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=books&field-ke...

yes, I think that´s right that the Gessle family are the only gessle in Sweden (maybe the whole world)...I checked it out and it seems like there are 10 people called Gessle in Sweden...
...btw, wasn´t Gessle a name that Per´s father (Kurt) just found out ???

Yeah, Per´s father changed long before Per was born his last name from Johansson to Gessle. You can read about it in Roxette - The Book.
I also tried to find some more people called Gessle but without some success. I found only Per´s brother and one of his daughter Sandra. And some Gunilla Gessle is living in Göteborg but I think Per´s sister took name after husband - Loneberg so now I don´t know. But probably it is the same person. Who knows?!

Yes, I know there´s a Gunilla Gessle in Gothenburg as well and I think it´s Per´s sister, ´cause the chance that there´s two Gunilla Gessle in Sweden is very, very small. Since Per´s father found out the name I don´t think there are any other families called that.

I once saw an interview with someone on the street here in Sthlm on tv, the guy was called Per Fredriksson, that was pretty funny I think!
Even though but this first and last name are so common here I still had to laugh because to me it sounded so stupid because it reminds me of Per and Marie, :)

But which story is right about GESSLE? I heard two different: The first: Per’s Dad changed the name because he had big trouble with his dad (Per’s grandpa) ...and the second story is: They got the chance to change it because there have been to many identic names in Sweden that time.
Well...Per Johansson..doesn’t sound very special hm??

if you have the chance you should really read sth by her. There is a nice one called Syndafloden in Swedish ( about the ark and such). Her works were translated into 36 languages, I am sure Spanish is among them!
