THE ROXETTE'S BOOK OF CURIOSITIES...
tinytim said on April 1, 2002 15:33:
I guess that all of you certainly noticed some curious detail in Roxette’s songs...well, I remember that this was a topic from the old TDR, but anyway, it’s just nice to do that, so...
I’ll start: In “The Voice” there’s a part where you can listen a...what’s the word...fade, like if the band went out of the rythm. The tone gets lower, like if Marie gets untuned...or the band...
In “Here comes the...” you can listen in the end of the song a bellboy saying (with a strong argentinian accent) :’ROOM SERVICE, hi?’ Did you notice that?
There are, at least, three songs in Roxette’s repertoire who start with animal sounds.
Well, now you tell the rest.

Uhm, some more:
The Rain: this one is easy, the sound of a aeroplane just when Marie sings ...our love disapearing like an aeroplane....
I’m Sorry: You can hear some unidentified sound, from the middle to the end of the song. If you listen to it reverse-mode you will notice is some piano notes.
Keep Me Waiting: Per sings at the begining “Did you keep me waiting” on reverse. (another easy one)
I’ll try to think about some more, there are lots!!! ....
Ernes.

@ tinytim, I can only remember Fingertips & The First Girl that start with animal sounds...What’s the 3rd one?

In the end of I’m Sorry when the music is going down if you make your CD-player play louder you’ll hear how wonderful Per sings “I’m really sorry, I’ve made you cry”...

ummmmm In the end of I´m sorry spanish version if you turn up the volume you will hear some laughters :))))

animalkngdm: Actually, I don’t remember cleary...but I know there’s a third one...
If you pay attention, but a big, big attention in the beggining of Joyride...the original version, you can hear the voice of Per saying something.

Something like what?
hmmmm maybe you mean the speech of Dave Edwards? (i think that was the name)

First Girl On The Moon/Place Your Love?
I seem to remember the two C!B!B! tracks recorded in Capri had some dogs in the background.

ABBEY ROAD VERSION OF Listen to your heart
acoustic:
Per says: DANKESCHÖN in the end which is “Thank you” in german!...I’m still wondering why he got the idea of talking german during recordings for the UK.... ;)
Ferdan said on April 24, 2002 17:52:
I found something else.
in I wanna be your boyfriend....
Just after Per sings “Hey little girl... I wanna be your boyfriend” there’s a voice saying “i wanna” or “i want”
it’s reaaally subtle........ and it’s recorded in mono so it can’t be listened with karaoke...

Hello,
Marie is kind of rapping in “Crazy about you” (backing vocals), which sounds great!
Bye,

In “Better Off on Her Own” when Per sings “am I sleeping, I was dreaming, for just a moment time stood still” when he says ’am I sleeping, I was dreaming’, his voice souns weird. He sounds untuned, too.
It seems that Per has some difficults to sharp his voice in some songs. Like in Knockin’ on every door, for example. Everytime he says ’yeah, youuuu” his voice sounds very unprofessional. Even Marie said that about him. Singing live he always did that. But he’s much much better since TWATG.
Jackeill said on April 29, 2002 19:57:
hey try pay the price ! pay attention on the part when per sings after first verse. “you turn me inside out” – here are strange silent kind of voices, something like talking recorded faster – “you turn me outside in” – again!. try it with phones - sounds better

At the end of Do You Wanna Go The Whole Way?, Marie’s singing “yea-ea-eaaaaaah” really high.

@ tinytim
Have you heard Church Of Your Heart live?
Marie’s the one who goes out of tune there.
Note the chorus: “Yes it’s true, right from the start...”
Just a side note. Otherwise of course, she’s one of the best singers ever! ;)

Yeh.... that thing of The Voice is true.... it seems like if the voice track “slips” or something like that...
The begining of The Big L. (bigger better mix) is a speeded up sampled part of Sgt. Pepper Lonely hearts club band reprise.
ummmm in the single version of Joyride a sound like spoons plays along the ending whistles...
in the Spending my time AC MIX, Marie sings.... “... hoping that you, is missing me too... “
In Fireworks after ” they said farewell and stole a small town car. “.... after the car’s horn... if you have nice speakers with really good bass sounds... you can actually “feel” the car passing by paned from one speaker to the other..... it is really subtle.... but it really exist.
There are a lot more details i can’t remember right now.
