Roxette & Kylie Minogue

Hi everyone. I just want to compare these two act a little. KM had her last hit in USA in 1987/88 with “Locomotion”. After that, all her singles flopped and in the 90s she didnt even released her records in USA. And in the rest of the world, her sales were quite poor. Now, in 2002, she has a top 10 single on billboard, and her album “Fever” just entered the american charts at #3. Then theres Roxette. Their last hit single in USA was “Fading Like A Flower” in 1991 ( 4 years after “Locomotive”). So why couldent Roxette get back on top in USA? The public didnt forgett Kylie, so why should they have forgett Roxette?
What Kylie did, and what Roxette should have done years ago, is that she changed record company. She was fired by the way from her old record company, so she found one that wanted to invets on her. Why dont Roxette leave EMI??? I just KNOW they would have been much bigger today if they were on a better company. But its not too late. Per, if you read this: drop EMI now!!!!!

This was the time for Kylie, she’s got a breaking single like “Can’t get you out of my head”, a new look, a new company... Maybe with the new Roxette album it will be the time for them. I don’t think it’s impossible to make it again in the USA, the old songs are often played on the American radio-stations (as far as I know) and Wish I could fly had a good wellcome in USA in 2000. But one of the problems for Roxette seems to be that Per and Marie don’t want to spend a long time promoting their albums over there, so I guess we’ll have to wait until a new “The Look” comes out if we want to see Roxette on the Nº 1 American Billboard again.

they don’t want it, or are not interested, otherwise they would have done it before, just as simple

It’s not that simple. I’m sure they want to, but...
Besides: Kylie’s changed a lot. She doesn’t have a family & kids, doesh she? Also - how much is she involved with her records (writing/producing)?
Maybe Roxette should get her songwriter/s. But would we like to listen to some boring tunes? Would _that_ be Roxette? Naaah!
[in conclusion - I’m sure Rox can be big in the US again. Just have to find *their own way* :]

Hey!
USA is not the world!
They have success in Europe and Latin America!

I think record companies could have a lot to do with success. It all depends. There seems to be a lot of issues with promotion with not only EMI but also Roxette themselves. Per has said himself that their sales are pretty good considering how little promoting they do.
Anyways, I believe Roxette do have a chance in the US market with the right song. I sent the “Room Service” album to 2 of my online friends (who have never heard the album previously) and both LOVED “Looking For Jane.” It was their favorite on the album! So it shows that their music can appeal to certain people. Two people isn’t much, but hey, at least it says something.

Coyboyusa; I was talking about HIT singles... it would be a sin to call “Crash!Boom!Bang!” a hit in the states. Anyway, my point was that Roxette should change record company. Maybe EMI wants to invest on Kylie, but not on Roxette. So therefor Roxette should find a company that believes in Roxette!

ROXETTE has chances.... Kylie Minogue has proved that not being great in USA, you can return to the tops of the charts...
It’s obviuos, the american people think that Kylie is a new singer, such as Britney Spears or C. Aguilera. It’s time for pop pricesses and she took the chances!

Everyone has chances but that doesn’t mean they’re able to take them.they’re so comfortable with what they’re now, so

As I see it, it’s like this:
Roxette can get big in the US again, if they want to bad enough. The problem is that they’re quite comfortable with how things are right now. They don’t have anything too proove to themselfs or anyone else. I mean, they have already conquered the world once. Why do it again?
Sure, they are looking for a new company in the US, or atleast so they say they are, but if they can’t get the deal that THEY want, then they can wait. If it happens again, it happens. If not... so what?
I think it’s a little bit like that anyway... They both have families now, and it’s not quite as easy to spend months in a row far away from home.
Unfortunatelly.

Little girl: YOU?RE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!, but the “salvation” for Roxette is change label in US, LATINO AMERICA, EUROPE, ASIA, everywere i think that Emi hate our ROXETTE; everyone seems to know that except Marie & Per ... unfortunately!

Kylie’s a hit in the uk, she always gets so many top ten hits and stuff, I think it’s cos the lads like her flashing parts of her body at the camera
little_girl said on March 13, 2002 11:10:
REGN: I think they do know that. But they do not feel that they HAVE to do that right now. I’m sure that if they wanted to bad enough, they could have a new deal SO fast. But they don’t want it bad enough... THAT’S the trouble as I see it. Not the fact that EMI sux... and have you ever thought about that the lack of EMI interest for Roxette in those countries, could actually be a resoult of Roxette not really doing their best to hit big there again? I’m not saying it IS like that... just that it could be....
Hope no one kills me for saying that... I know those countries have many roxfans too.
