Gessle//Australia

It’s been hysterical watching Europeans complain that Per’s not visiting their country or even... gasp... their city!

Yet it seems the angry mob have forgotten, AT LEAST HE’S ON YOUR DAMN CONTINENT!

Save your pennies and fly a “dramatic” 1-2 hours to whichever country is nearest.

I’m in Sydney. It’s roughly 27+ hours to the nearest port in Europe to get to see him.

So be grateful.

Now, whilst everyone else is throwing their country in the ring, I hereby represent the land down under and politely ask Per and co to pop down to Australia and do some shows in our larger cities “Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane”. Everyone else in the country can hop a Qantas and fly there :-p

Unrealistic of course I know, Per will not come here, but hey, you don’t ask, you don’t try, you just never know :-p

Let’s get a few (thousand) names added to this list boys and gals ;)

I would be there for sure, but if Roxette ever came i would be there even faster. I also think its unlikley, but ok we can always hope!!!!

I know, very very unlikely, in fact, fair to say that it won’t happen... but still... imagine ey? :-)

Everyone else is throwing their country in... yes those poor poor sods in Europe (did I mention it’s an hour plane trip?) ... so I figured why not get one going for the Aussies? As ridiculous as it is...

Hey, don’t group all the Europeans together!! I’m quite happy to fly to London! :-) I really didn’t think that the UK would get a show, so I was preparing to fly to Europe anyway!

Well that’s good to hear.

It’s like someone living in Brisbane complaining that Per is playing in Melbourne. It’s barely a few hours on a plane... insane stuff.

You got Per, we don’t!

Appreciate it.

“It’s like someone living in Brisbane complaining that Per is playing in Melbourne”...LOL totally agree

Per...we want you here :-)

Exactly what I thought Roxwriter when I read the comments. I would fly or drive to any capital city in Aus to see Per live. If I lived in Europe I would get in my car and drive to where he is playing if I couldn’t get that 1 hour flight needed. PER GET YOUR PROMOTING ASS TO AUSTRALIA! Ahh, that feels better :)

Man i love these aussie related threads. Always good for a laugh!.

You make a great point.

I’ve always thought how lucky people are in Europe. They can get in car/plane/train and within a few hours be in a completely different country.

+1 hehe :-P

It seems this album won’t be released anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere. I have not heard of any branch of EMI having plans for a release, at least. So, he simply has nothing to promote down here. It’s sad, but that’s how this business works.

LOL!!!

I’m with you: Roxwriter! Let’s add South Africa, politely, in there as well, while we’re at it... 16hour flight for us to Europe/UK.

So stop complaining about a +-2hour flight or a couple of hours worth of driving!

You guys are bloody fortunate!

Oh God, I can’t believe Per is playing at Shepherd’s Bush Empire - why not Koko, Scala or even the 02 ?? Now I have to get on the train and go all the way from East London to West London ! :(

Sorry, I couldn’t resist :) But I can understand how you must feel when you’re just sooo far away ! I hope you get the chance - even if it’s part of the later tour !!

To be honest, I’m very surprised Per is coming to London - and that the record will get released here at some point ! So if it’s coming here I would think there must be some chance for Australia, at least at some point !!

Well after reading the “set-list” thread, I noticed Per responded via Tevensso.

So I figured I’d bump this thread up to the top... ;-)

*cough cough*

Was that cough a sore threat? Or cunning plan to convince Mr G to come down under? I am an evil genius if not a deluded one :-p I think I may have just convinced him. . . right?

:-p

Keep on bumpin’ Aussies!

Mate I’d fly to Asia to see Per, can’t fly to europe tho, got a mortgage

Cheers

Dave

@ditroia

You have a mortgage?!?

Well that settles it!

PER, ditroia has a mortgage and I’ve got work commitments, I think that’s a fairly solid case to come down here and play for us (not just us two... but you know what I mean)

Now. I know this thread is clearly keeping you up at night, so to clear your head and get a good night’s sleep, I suggest talking to EMI OZ and coming down, you can stay at my ma’s place, she doesn’t speak English very well and tends to over-cook but hey, we can make it work... right? Right?

Bump! :-p

Yep, c’mon down, big P!

hey mr g cmon down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i live in perth but would be happpy to fly to sydney

Free accommodation Per!! Better take it while the offer lasts!

I’d be happy to go to more than one show, just to make it worthwhile for him :-)

Hey my flight from Rome to Stockholm is 3 hours, Sweden costs a bomb even though the Euro is stronger on the Crown now but yes I agree with you and I sign the petition!

Hey Big P (lol great nick)

How could you not be convinced by this dynamic and intelligent thread? :-p

I too would fly across OZ to see all shows, NO QUESTION IN MY MIND! I’d do it!

Would I fly around to see Debbie Gibson, Rick Astley or UB40? Only if I had a gun in my hand... and a good aim :-p

C’mon Per, look at how HYSTERICAL we are, surely this has melted your wintery Stockholm heart... oh did I mention it’s hot sunny and summer here? :)

AND.... if you were to come here in our “winter”, it’s usually around 17-20 degrees during the day... and err... snow... what’s that? I’ve seen snow in Xmas telemovies... that’s about it... you crazy Northern Hemispherians! lol

Has Helena been to OZ? Did you think about that Dr. Gessle? Maybe Helena wants to see our stunning beaches?

(Ok gang, I reckon we’re getting somewhere, I think we play the “poor Helena” angle to convince Professor G. to come down)

Lol... you can’t say we’re not trying at least :)

P.S. Remember when you shot “Vulnerable” here at Bondi Beach in Sydney? Average video at best, but the point is....... what a great place to stay!!!! :-p

Ha, ha!

I’m from Sydney and I travelled to Sweden in 2007 (part of a European trip) for the ’En handig Man’ Tour and I loved it although my bank account was less than impressed ;) I too wish my only dilemma was a short trip to another country! We have to fly at least one day to get to Europe, if you know what inhumane torture it is to fly that long in economy you’d understand how difficult it is for us! And that’s not even thinking about the price of the flight!

I don’t know why Mr Gessle and Co can’t do a club tour of Australia, I mean everyman and his dog do one and I see no reason why Per wouldn’t get a decent crowd. I’d easily do Sydney and Melbourne :) I’d love to see another English Rox related tour again! Go on Per maybe later in the year, please!! You can fly first class to take the sting out of the trip a bit ;)

Wishful thinking I know ;)

At the very least I hope we get a DVD!

OK. I have to add myself to the thread. I also put my name down on the list of people who would like to see Gessle come to Oz.

I was originally going to suggest we all converge on Sydney to make it easy for Per, but hey we would have to make it worth his while to fly all the way down here, so I think perhaps every capital city and maybe a few regional centres. If he does, hmmm, 6 or 7 places then surely we could get people along. We would probably even travel around and go to several nights :). And he could make a side trip to South Africa and New Zealand. Could make a holiday of it as well. I’m sure the family would love to come down this way for a holiday.

I too have looked into the possibility of heading over to Europe for the tour. I was going to do it for Room Service, but didn’t and regret it. Unfortunately, timing is out for me. If it was this time last year, I’d have been going for sure, but now, there’s too much going on to get the time off work.

Per:- If you decide to come to Brisbane, we’ve got some great venues you could try out :)

Per, if you add Perth to your Australian tour I’m sure konstpaus or myself can let you stay at one of our joints. I can even be your personal slave and carry your bags everywhere. lol I know you and the Rox band enjoyed yourself in Northbridge in ’95.

Aussies know Roxette very well. You’re not forgotten and some future promo work and/or small capital city tour here for a solo release would be a guaranteed winner. Come Back Tomorrow (And We Do It Again) !!

Ok ok ok ok... let’s not overwhelm Per by asking him to visit small rural towns like Perth :-p

The point was, get him on our damn continent and then we can all travel to where he is. Therefore Sydney or Melbourne would be the logical choices. But I don’t think Per is a fan of rain or mobsters, so maybe Sydney is better :-p

Anywho, I think it’s working guys, Per’s about to crack, we need to convince him that Roxette always pops up on the radio down here and he and EMI would be pleasantly surprised with the attendance and interest in such a tour.

If I know Per, which I don’t, I know he’s losing sleep over this thread having recurring dreams of Crocodile Dundee, Olivia Newton-John and Steve Irwin! He has to snap out of it and visit Australia.

C’mon Per, maybe just come for a Holiday? Bring the family and an acoustic guitar, we’ll meet you at a cafe for a day, give us a few “na na na na’s” and we’ll pay for your raisin toast... it’s win-win!

:-p

Don’t know if anyone saw the segment on Weekend Sunrise, but apparently all the big artists (Pink, Britney even rumours of Madonna) are coming over the next year for tours.

Why should they get all the limelight? I think Per needs to come and upstage them!

Maybe Per could hitch a ride with Madonna on her way down?

Felt like it needed a bump or two ... :-p

Just a thought, seeing as it is a club tour it can’t be that expensive logistically speaking.

There’s no huge sets, no huge entourage for stage setups etc. Apart from PG, the band and equipment, and the few others that there needs to be, it can almost be seen as a working holiday!

BRING ON THE GESSLE!!!!

Raëlian: As mentioned previously on this forum, South Africa is scheduled with a release. As far as I can recall, South Africa falls somewhere in the south.
