EUROVISION 2002 ;)

So do u know what are your countries cooking for this year’s eurovision contest?
-do u think the songs should be in english or in each countries own language?
-a nice idea would be to have a song by a famous artist every year but not being a part of the actual contest (Roxette for example :P)

The intro of one of the Swedish competitors (Annika Ljungberg - Sail Away) is practicly the same intro as in Run To You...

In Spain there was a really successful TV program to choose who will represente Spain. We’re not sure yet who will go of the 3 winners of the program, but if the song is good enough be sure Spain will win. (Rosa 4ever)

I think next time Roxette is invited they should really SING and not just mime to playback! Sure they were great but how better it could have turned out live, huh?
I think Eurovision lost its prestige and is not an objective contest anymore. Certain juries in certain countries support each other by voting and so on. To make it a real European contest every artist should sing in his/her mother tongue. That’s my opinion.

@Gyllene_tjej: Isn’t it the viewers who vote nowadays?
And I think it’s OK that everyone get to choose the language they sing in..This year one of the Finnish candidates (not a winner though) sang in Italian (you know, Italy won’t participate at all) but that was AWFUL (the tune was nice but...well, no one really liked it).
gyllene_tjej said on February 15, 2002 08:50:
@animalkingdom: yes, of course it is viewers who decide, but nevertheless it doesn’t seem to be a fair voting. Neighbour- countries will always support each other, take Scandinavia ( and maybe exclude Swedes voting for Norwegians and the other way round ;-D) or German Switzerland and Austria - they do back up one another. Regarding languages, I really think it is more personal to sing in the one which is your native. Otherwise Eurovision becomes so dominated by English. Where is the European part of that then?

Yea & Russia supports all the former socialistic countries or which were part of the USSR... -)

Have u heard Finland’s song? Laura’s Addicted 2 U?
What do u think?
By the way, Roxette is mentioned on the official Eurovision website (www.eurovision.tv) in the part “Saku Suurhall” (where the contest will be held). :D

vaxjoe said on April 14, 2002 20:10:

hej vaxjo, i published the same asking about Eurovision some weeks ago.

In my opinion the singers and bands have to sing in their language like some years ago. ABBA was one the first bands who may sing in English instead of Swedish. I like the other language. Those give the contest a “multi-culti”-flair. English is just simple.

Hmmm .. that’s not right ... in fact Switzerland, Austria and Germany give each other hardly some points ...
For Scandinavia this is right but not for the german-speaking countries :-))

Its funny how the UK never takes Eurovision seriously....even when we win it ;) for the rest of you guys it seems to be a big event ;)

ok isnt it a bit awkward for sweden to be represented by a black band? im not a racist but come on! i dont know about u but when i think of swedish ppl thats not the image i have in mind....i talked to many swedish friends of mine and they re quite annoyed by this choice too...
vaxjoe said on May 10, 2002 18:17:
daniel sssssh :P BUT REALLY i dont mind im surrounded by cute blondes . the point is when some1 represents a country he/she/them should at least give the image that they actually come from that country...

vaxjoe said on May 10, 2002 18:29:

Roxette was singing last year on Melodifestivalen in Malmö and it was really great. The best song in the evening not only for me but also for many other that were watching it.
