It’s oh so quiet! Seriously, what do you think Per is working on since last summer? He can’t have only shuffled songs for the TWATG rerelease since months! What do you expect, SOAPII in the fall?
7-Twenty-7 said on April 29, 2008 23:12:
There’s no news about The Beatles, Queen and ABBA either. Get used to it...
Roxryder said on April 30, 2008 00:22:
Most of the bands you mention have splitted or members died and neither of them is the case of Roxette.

I have absolutely NO facts about this, but I agree - when Per is this quiet something is going on... Mind you, this is not a fact.

If there’s news, they’ll tell us. Until then, chin up and wait. Just don’t get your hopes up too high, I’d hate for you to all suffer a major fall...

Roxryder, even if the bands I mentioned have splitted up, they are still more ’alive’ than Roxette, believe me. I don’t know why people is so worried about it, everything comes to and. The same rule applies to Roxette, everybody should get used to it!

It happened some time ago... A group that gets into the studio to record 1 or 2 songs every two years -to be included in ’Greatest Hits’ packages- is no longer active, in my opinion. No full album since 2001 (that’s 7 years ago, the longest gap between 2 Roxette albums if we ever get a new one), no tour, no promotion. Only a long string of compilations, some TV appearances and some singles that, letting Sweden aside, get almost no airplay. That’s far from the Roxette we had in the early 90’s.
But no complains about it. They are still making music as solo artists - if that is good for them, it’s good for me too. Maybe this is what they really want, they decided to follow a different path. I understand it.

for me a new album is possible, maybe no a new tour, or a big promotion....

I m not waiting anything new anymore,I lost all hopes I had about it.in my opinion Per’s retired, just remaking old singles again and again,it means that nothing to play, write, already too many hits one man,and one chorus.Roxette is already legend, much more better and great than Abba were..
7-Twenty-7 said on May 1, 2008 17:21:
Roxette was good, but their songs will never get to the level of ABBA. There’s no way to compare “Real Sugar” to “Dancing Queen” or “Bringing Me Down To Me Knees” to “The Winner Takes It All”. We should not mix the things up! I like both, Roxette and ABBA, but there’s no point of comparison regarding arrangements and -specially- lyrics...
Roxryder said on May 1, 2008 22:40:
As far as i know this topic was about Roxette no longer not who’s better than Roxette.
I’m getting off this bus now

@7-Twenty-7: ...and “Dancing Queen” is no “The Look” and “The Winner Takes It All” is no “It Must Have Been Love”... it’s all relative. I certainly hear IMHBL on the radio 18 years after it was a hit far more than I ever heard “TWTIA” 18 years (or even 5 years) after IT was a hit...
Anyway... Rox will rox again, sooner or later...
ket-ket said on May 2, 2008 10:43:
we can make comparison between another songs, and its mainly depends on music taste, but I think roxette was better, its just needs time to be sure thats its truth, years will show.
7-Twenty-7 said on May 2, 2008 12:51:
@ roxtexanet: You are in Canada, aren’t you? The fact is Roxette was stronger in North/South American than in Britain. Roxette had four #1 singles in the US but never had one in the UK, while ABBA had only one #1 in the US but nine in the UK. So your statement makes sense after all.
Anyway, nobody can compare ABBA with Roxette. In the same way we can’t compare Roxette with Ace of Base (yikes!)
ncurran said on May 7, 2008 22:04:
I wouldnt agree that they were bigger in the US than in the UK. Sure they had some singles success in America for a few years, but they were never huge. In the UK they were moderately successful, but they actually did better with their albums. Indeed, Look Sharp went double platinum. Joyride was platinum, but as far as I remember it was quite close to double platinum as well. They also managed to sell out arenas on The joyride, summer joyride and CBB tours, when they could only play at smaller theatres in america
