which is the country in the world with more Roxette fans?
jorgeojeda2004 said on March 11, 2008 04:37:
hello people!!
the idea of this new forum topic is NOT starting a “war” among the countries, I´d like to know where are you from most of you...
Jud (moderator) said on March 11, 2008 06:55:
I always thought Roxette (and I mean, Rox, not Per or GT) had the largest number of fans in Spain and in Germany. In number and in % to the population.
At least all Rox shows in Spain were always sold out ;)
I come from Spain.

Definitely, Romania has the most fans out of those countries where Roxette never showed up, neither for a promo, nor for a concert.
Just for your information only (management in the first place), we’re still alive and kicking:

I can´t forget to mention my country, Argentina! We´re a lot here...
I noticed that there is a new generation of Roxette younger fans here, too, obviously, not too many, but still alive and kicking...!
Keep on Roxin´forever!!!

I think Southamerica has most of the fans, the vidoes from 91-92 in Buenos Aires, oh my god! Well, I’m from the Rox country; Sweden.
CRIZ said on March 11, 2008 19:13:
Okay: Question to Mr. Per Gessle. Where do you sell most of your (ROXETTE)-records? Maybe that would make things easier! ;)
(I maybe know about 20 fans from my country but most of them don’t appear in any Rox-forums, so you can’t count them I’m afraid)
ettexor said on March 11, 2008 19:34:
hi
i,m a fan from italy, and i think my country is not the state where roxette have more fans, but i’ m one of the big fan from italy.
Breathe8 said on March 11, 2008 20:39:
Of course the large countries with a lot of population like Germany, Spain but Roxette also have many fans in Czech republic with 10 000 000 population. They were here in the spring 1994 for the first time and then 2 concerts during C!B!B! tour and one show during RS tour.:-)
realsuga said on March 11, 2008 20:44:
wow@Czech Republic...possibly a chance there. I was in Buenos Aires in January and I saw a guy wearing a Roxette CBB T-shirt....I couldn’t believe it. I was ecstatic

Latin America is not a country ;) In these terms then I say Europe ;)

I have no idea. Maybe… Russia? Huge country, lots of loyal fans. Btw I’m from Kazakhstan.
2 Perekopsky: I don’t know about other CIS countries, but here many people like Rox, but the majority of them don’t give a damn to get international releases. And it’s a shame I guess that’s what you mean by the word “fake”. Btw I’m true fan, honestly!!!

@ Judith
Hate to be meticulous but the Barcelona 2001 show was nowhere a sellout. I think the place can hold up to 20,000 spectators where Roxette interested only some 7000.
I believe Germany could be the right answer to the topic question.
Jud (moderator) said on March 12, 2008 22:01:
I wasn’t in Barcelona’s show 2001, but as far as I remember there were no tickets available the week before, as a friend wanted to join the show last minute and couldn’t find any tickets? Maybe I’m mixing it up, it’s years ago ;)
Anyway, 2001 tour wasn’t the best selling, Germany was bad, Austria was bad. I think Sweden did well though.

Interesting data! Nice report!
but I still think that the most of the fans we are here in Latin America!
or, at least we are so many like in Europe!
AURYTE said on March 15, 2008 09:06:
I’m from Lithuania, Vilnius :)
Well, Roxette have definetely the hugest fanbase in Europe and in South America, but it’s very hard to indicate the countries. For instance, you can hear Roxette very often on the radio in Sweden and Lithuania and I mean also the new songs! But I don’t think that Roxette sell a lot of records in Lithuania like all foreign bands. It’s too expensive to buy albums. Lots of my friends call me nuts when they find out that I buy original records. They think it’s a waste of money as you can download the albums for free.
However, the most trustable resource in this case, I guess, it’s concert attendance. But then again, Roxette haven’t visited many countries, where they are popular.

Maybe Tev or Judith from TDR could query the registered users database and give us a number ... I know not every living fan is registered in TDR, but we could have an interesting metric anyway ... Visitors-per-country would also be interesting to see.
AURYTE said on March 16, 2008 09:55:
@PiR: I doubt you can say that the country that has the most registered users on The Daily Roxette or any other Roxette site, is the country with the most fans. That country just has the most active fans, like hard-core fans or how can we describe them... I guess, a great majority of Roxette fans are adults and I guess, they don’t have a time to register to some Roxette forum. Maybe they even don’t know that these forums exist!

It’s the power of brasilian fans :) !!!

I think Visa posted a couple of statistics in the past, I will see if I find the topic
Edit: Couldn’t find it. Only thing I could find is lots of crap written in the TDR discussion.
But anyway, the numbers wouldn’t be 100% significant, as many people have registered twice, there’s even a guy from Argentina who has I think 4 users, at least 3 ;)

I think if Roxette played in South America in 2001, countries like Brazil or Argentina for instance could easely beat any other country Rox played in. But I won’t change my opinion about Russia too. M&T&H was song of the year in Russia and Roxette was pop-rock group of the year in 1994, and that maybe tells smth. Btw I doubt TDR statistics helps, it’s only drop in the ocean
AURYTE said on March 20, 2008 14:05:
Talking about South America, what a madness there was when Roxette came for promotion in 1999. I think, Roxette could have sold a lot of tickets in South America back in 2001!
